Following some impressive recent results in the Autumn tests, is this the smallest we've seen the gap between Southern and Northern Hemisphere sides?

No Ireland is just one of the best teams in the world right now and NZ are going through a transition atm. Usually it is the 3 southern hemisphere teams with 1 or 2 of Ireland, France, England or Wales up there too. I hope the northern hemisphere does better at the World Cup this year, I think Scotland were the only team to when a knockout and even they have improved. I'd rather see the gap between Tiers close tbh, if teams like Russia, Georgia, Spain, USA, Brazil, Tonga, Samoa, Zimbabwe and Japan improved and were able to be more competitive with the 6 nations it would definitely be better and fulfill the ultimate ambition of expanding the World Cup.

@@richardgoode5314 I know that's what I said. It's a shame its one of the best sports in the world after football for excitement and enjoyment but it's mostly only played by the commonwealth.

Ireland are at the cutting edge of defensive strategy, the breakdown and the scrum. Light-years ahead of the rest of the northern hemisphere and the south. But NZ will never be caught when it comes to their ability to score a million tries in open play.

Sopoaga is right. The influence of the SH coaches have had a huge effect on the home nations success. The gap has well n truly closed. All Blacks understanding of the game and how they play are still ahead - only just.

Just so I can be that guy, Gregor Townsend the head coach of Scotland is Scottish. Before Townsend it was Vern Cotter who is from New Zealand. Not sure if it was addressed in the show, wasn't in the clip so. The gap is closing but as mentioned needs to be stable for a few years to be valid. The signs do look good.
