I would also buy the sapphire sandwich model, not just for the scratch resistance but also so I can see that beautiful movement 💙

I pulled the trigger on the Sapphire Sandwich for my 30 Birthday after my Omega AD notified me they received 2 for stock and one was already pre-reserved. The movement is stunning.

I prefer the Hesalite version since the sapphire sandwich makes the dial kinda gray. I want it true black with the Hesalite crystal

I just received mine a few days ago. I love it, but I am not as big a fan of the new bracelet taper as I thought I would be. It’s almost too small at the clasp. I love the way that the Hesalite looks, it is different from a sapphire in a way that I cannot explain. I’m satisfied with my purchase, and I understand why it is said that it could be a first and last luxury watch purchase.

Own one. Love it. Bought a Speedy variant that I also love first. Blue dial complication model with a date hand and moonphase. It’s beautiful, very accurate and it has a rotor. The more I wore it the more I wanted the purest version too. Almost went Ed White for the handmade 321, but couldn’t get past the 3861 with better accuracy, lower wear, longer service interval and 50% the price. Opted for the sapphire mostly for the ability to view the movement, but also happy I won’t need to polish out hair line scratches.

What else is available this iconic or even semi iconic under 8k? Maybe a Tudor but in my opinion not even close.

Speedmaster Professional ''Moonwatch'' is THE MOST ICONIC watch ever made. Second place belongs to Rolex Submariner and third to PP Calatrava. And the best thing is that you can still walk into any Omega boutique and buy a ''Moonwatch'' without waiting list. Even if they don't have it in the boutique, you just order one and it will arrive in 1-3 months from CH.

The standout piece in my watch collection remains highly relevant due to its exceptional aesthetics, rich history, and recent enhancements that bring it close to perfection. While the Submariner is widely coveted (and I own one), the Speedmaster Professional stands out for its refined elegance and, in my opinion, near-perfection.

Bought a 145.022-69 13 years ago and a 145.012-67 5 years ago. I love them with the tritium patina. Both are over 50 years old.

Let me preface my comments by saying that I come from an Omega family. My grandfather had a 1935 Omega pocket watch and my father, a 1967 Seamaster Deville, both of which I now own. I've had my Saphire Sandwich for a couple of months and love it. Agree that it wears much smaller than the 42mm would suggest. The jury's still out on the bracelet taper; its very comfortable and retro although to me it takes a little bit away from the power it may otherwise project.

I agree that 100m WR would be a nice safety net, but not necessary on this one. 50m WR is enough for daily wear. I know I'm covered if I get pushed in a pool or need to wash it off under the tap. If I'm going to be horsing around in the water, I'm picking a diver.

@@chucksneed3339You’re correct that HE should have gotten the hesalite because YOU like it better? 😂 I like the sapphire’s halo, to me it adds another slight touch of elegance by complimenting the look of the stainless steel case- it creates slight visual separation between the blackness of the dial and bezel, similar to the way an unpainted stainless steel chapter ring would.

Is it worth it? I think that depends how much you buy intot he hype..... If your goal is to own an Omega for whatever the reason i'd just buy a Seamaster 300m Professianl. Good enough. From and AD. I mean, lets be honest here, watches are items rarely seen by our friends, family and strangers....it's either covered by a sleeve or are arms are alwasys moving or rarrely still...plus most watches have a generic look...few standout from thecrowd...e.g. dive watches... Plus, also to be honest...if we were bllindfolded...and someone put 5 watches on our wrists..could we tell which is which? Doubt it. They're just marginally heavier or lgihter by 20 or so grames...one tick louder faintly...heh..
