I just tested the pre-haptic Pint X vs Pint X with S firmware and It produced surprising results! As always great camera work and editing! Loved the sound effect when the speedometer popped up!

Yes! I watched that video. I also tried it for myself. The firmware is a noticeable improvement. And thank you! I saved the settings for the speedometer cutout as a preset. And since it takes less time to make it, I figured I would add some extra sauce with the sound effects.

Not being a 20 mph board is unfortunate and a deal breaker! For that reason, I'm glad to have the Pint X... I can upgrade the tire and footpads at my leisure!

Yes! The firmware was a big win for Pint X owners. The footpads are worth buying. The Performance Treaded tire is good, but there are also good aftermarket tires.

I agree. What's funny is that they write on their website that you should always slow down when you encounter pushback and Haptic Buzz. If that's the case, you should never reach the top speed on the Pint X/S.

I have the XR+ and going to upgrade to the new PINT S. Had a ride on the PINT X over the weekend and it was great. The smaller form factor for me is great and then to have all the latest offerings on the S without having to change tyres or pads it makes it really worth while for the price. This is the kicker. I dont want to spend all the money on the full fat GT or GTS as its almost double the price.

Nice review! I liked adding the other riders' takes, so we can see a variety of experiences on it. Agreed that it doesn't really merit a different model name. If anything, something like they did with the rally edition, to acknowledge the accessories without claiming better motor. The software probably took a lot of work, so I can see a push to get some acknowledgment on that. As for your next step, at your height and weight, I think you'd probably have to pick either torque headroom and speed, or nimble form factor. Dropping a GTV kit in your gt is a great board, with plenty of speed and torque. But it's not light and small. You could sell your GT and have Mario build you a lighter XR board (VESC). But even if you vesc the pint you won't get confidence at 20+ unless you're 150 lbs! 😅 Good luck with the decisions, and I look forward to seeing your journey online!

@@followdon I haven’t built on the Pint platform, it’s not really something I’ve yet been into. Just did a couple of GT builds, one of which I have a long video on coming out this weekend. Pricing ranges, a full build can be between $2400-3200, a GT conversion to VESC can be between $500-$2600 depending on how much oomph you want to put into a project. There’s a good array of parts from different places that can come together to make something pretty hefty.

@TheBoardGarage I don’t feel like the GT S-Series is lacking in anyway that would make me want to invest in something more powerful. Extra range would be nice, but it isn’t a priority. Same bro...I am 123lbs & I notice pushback right around 18 as well but it's really Suttle in custom mode but in Pacific & Skyline it's more pronounced but I've gotten her up to 20 in all 3 modes & it wasn't too sketch for me but it also doesn't feel like I want to try to push for more like I can with my Gt but I do love the ride feel better with my pS over my Gt even though I have over 1k+ miles with my Gt but it still has the stock 6.5in hub so maybe with a smaller hub it would feel better but it still wouldn't be lighter like the pS...I love both of my boards very much but the ride feel of the lightness & easy to throw around with carving the pintS is really dope...I can carve with my Gt really good as well but the pS is easier & a nicer feel...its almost like the pintS rides itself compared to other boards imo but that's just my opinion 🤙. Very happy I made the move to purchase the new Ps & still keep my Gt I've had for 2 years now. Definitely love the pintS especially beings I have the same performance tread tire on my Gt so I'm already used to that tire but dam does it feel better on the pintS for sure & absolutely love those flared foot pads 😎 so dam dope 🔥

What was your psi tho? That makes a huge difference my pint x pre firmware update with the 18 mph top speed would buzz at advertised speed with the psi they recommend in The manual, (17-20) otherwise if you have lower psi then increased rolling resistance... and then the pint x would buzz at 15 to 16 so the speed was there...

@WyattPhillips-zh4kc I’ll be sure to check the PSI before my next test. Thanks for calling this out. Are you able to hit 20 on your Pint X now? I also had a lighter rider, @mygoalfaster test. 1. Learn to jump off the board with both feet at the same time. This way you can jump to safety at a stop or very low speeds. 1B. Turn on Simple Stop to start. I found that the hardest thing starting out was getting off the board, and that’s when most beginner injuries happen. Once you’re comfortable on the board, start trying the heel lift or even quick stop. But that comes later. 2. Lower your tire pressure to make the board more stable. Rule of thumb is your weight in pounds divided by 10. But you might want to lower than by 2-3 psi when starting out for more stability. Get an electronic air pump if you don’t have one, they’re handy. 3. Practice putting pressure on your toes on one foot, your heel on the other (counterbalancing), and viceversa. You can practice and get a feel for it off the board. You’ll do this subconsciously in no time, but for now know how you can twist and balance on the board. Lastly, wear a helmet! 😊 Have fun!

Everyone is sharing great tips here! I’ll add some things about mindset that I think will help. I sucked at Onewheeling for a solid week before things started to click. I was worried I wasted my money on a board I couldn’t return. Give yourself grace and some time to push through the learning curve. Definitely master your dismount as a first priority. Jumping off with two feet at the same time - ensuring you get off of the sensor pad on the front with the light on it is really important for safety. Simple stop was helpful for me in the beginning. The heel lift took me another few weeks to learn. I tell beginners NOT to “try to balance the board”. The board is self-balancing. It will handle the front to back balance. You’re responsible for heel to toe balance. When you try to balance it, you give the board new inputs to respond to. It responds quickly to shifts in weight, so it’s best to stay relaxed and only make subtle moves. Be mindful about your foot placement. Evenly distribute your foot with equal toe and heel overlap on the footpad. If you’re too toe or heal heavy you’ll have to overcompensate to return your balance to center and you’ll fatigue faster. Keep your center of gravity over the tire and shift your weight using your hips. Keep your eyes focused on where you’re trying to go. Not on your feet. Turn your shoulders and eyes in the direction you’re headed. Tumbles will happen. Please wear a helmet. Elbow pads and wrist guards don’t hurt either. Definitely try dropping psi below 14 if you haven’t and it will be a lot less tippy. I like 12.5 psi at my 160 lb. 11 is even smoother but I lose a little pop on bonks if going to low. I know others who ride as low as 10psi.

@followdon
@followdon 3 ай бұрын
For stability, the GT S-Series has the advantage due to the wider tire, footpads, and the perceived stability that comes from the torque. The prices are vastly different between Pint S and GT S. The Pint S will feel the same as the X at its core, but the footpads will give you more room for your feet. No matter which board you choose, you’ll want to practice to improve your stability.

The performance treaded tire on the Pint S is better than the slick. But I wouldn’t say its characteristics make it more stable. The GT S-Series is a different class of board. The wider tire makes it more stable than the Pint. It’s the best Onewheel Future Motion makes for a rider like me that enjoys the speed and torque advantages.

As someone who has a Pint S and GT, I can confirm it's not hitting 20 MPH. It's not like the GT where you'll hit 20 MPH and not even know, because you're not thinking about it. As an 180lb rider, I'm typically cruising at 16-17 MPH which is ok given it's a Pint, but it's not the 20 MPH as advertised, which would've made me not buy this board TBH if I had known. Unfortunately, I bought it when it first came out so there weren't a lot of videos to watch on it and the ones that did exist mentioned this issue, but said it could just be lack of a software update, which doesn't seem to be the case...

It’s definitely a 20mph board, just have to learn how to push it to 20mph. I’m 196lbs and I was able to push a pint X with S firmware to 20mph. However, it still sucks at hill climbing compared to a VESC pint. It really isn’t a pint S it’s a rebranded pint X with a tire that sucks and foot pads that also suck.

It does seem like blatant false advertising. The Pint S seems to be priced fairly. It’s the original price of the Pint X before the 10th-anniversary discount, and it has a much better default setup. But it’s just a rebranded X and not a new product-just a new tire, firmware, and rail color.

16mph at 12 miles and 113v means it's only around a 2500wh battery. They are making huge margins and the QA is probably minimum.. Not worth four-figures. GTS and X seem to have the same motor as S with different controller and battery; all frames handle 275lb When they do 20 miles at 20mph with a 250lb rider I'm in. The LiM battery exists to do this at 400wh:kg; I'd go 3 phase pmsm ac brushless with custom ecs for efficiency and durability. The tech is out there to do better ev is too for profit right now..

I have a pint x and I have had a blast on it but honestly this type of thing is really frustrating to me. It's just false advertising which feels dishonest to me. Plane and simple. Do I need to go 20mph all the time? No. But if the limit is 18 just say it's 18! I didn't even know that the top speed was accurate on the other boards (GT platform) until watching all these videos and I feel cheated honestly. There is competition out there that is starting to look very enticing. It's a serious bummer as I wanted to love the Future Motion company and support made in California but with the battery pack wiring issue coming out and the false advertising on speed it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Hells No on the S for you, how you ride it will not be enough board/range/power. You carve, but most often you just FLY nose heavy like your late for something. I was suprised when you got the GTS being the range was not as good. I think if you want one just pick it up and tell yourself it's for friends when they come over to justify it. And let the stable grow!
