I did pick. I chose a V8 R8 manual and never looked back. As you said, it's a subjective choice. First of all for me, it's go manual or go home! So Gen 2 was out (even if I could afford it lol). The extra horsepower bump of the V10 doesn't bother me as my 306HP Nissan 350Z was more than enough on English roads. So it came down to looks, sounds and price. I do prefer the flared out side blades of the V10 R8 but I've always been a sucker for the low roar of a V8. The sound won out and as a bonus the V8 was about £10k-£15k cheaper than the V10 counterpart. By the sounds of it on the vid, that was a stock exhaust and look how much you was smiling. Trust me the exhaust is sooo muted out the factory. Whack an aftermarket exhaust on there and Oh. My. God! I swear it is ear-gasmic!!! In short, even if I had enough money to buy the 2023 R8 GT, I'd still buy a manual R8 V8.

@@crouchingtiger9108 - Congrats man, bet you're well chuffed! I'm sure you're going to have so much fun as I have in the last year and a half of ownership. £38K with 32K miles, that's a nice find. I did mountains of research and got mine for £40K on 40K miles, mint condish, also with F.A.S.H. and came with a Capristo exhaust (possibly more expensive due to residuals of the COVID price hike at my best guess). Being a London Lad, living on the outskirts, I do enjoy the Kentish country roads but damn I would love to take her out on some mountain road driving, so jealous! You're so right, she feels so planted even at high speeds you don't even notice it. Doing a convoy event to Brighton once, following a heavily modified MR2 and an R35 GTR on the motorway who were gradually getting faster and faster. As soon as I realised that I may possibly be breaking the 70mph speed limit, I looked down and saw 113mph on the clock! I need my license so I slowed right the hell down and left them to risk it, but it's crazy that I didn't notice it and especially the fact I still actually felt safe at them speeds.

I drove my Daytona Pearl Grey 2009 R8 4.2, gated manual to the grocery store earlier in the day. As I was loading groceries into the frunk, one of the attendants asked if mine was a 2017. I smiled. He was shocked that an R8 more than twice the age could look that good. It's a solid car, fun to drive and (knock on wood) has been very reliable.

A gated manual is on my list of cars I wanna buy. The original R8 is so underrated and doesn't get the love it deserves. I hope it stays that way so prices stay as they are 🤫

v8 manual with an armytrix titanium exhaust is an absolute banshee. never gets old.

Must get an aftermarket exhaust. Also, the V8 engine feels so much more torquey than the specs indicate. It's a legendary engine that should get more acknowledgement.

Agreed. Awesome car

I agree the original looks better. I would buy an original V8 manual for the purity

@@stepbystepsurgery3616 Likewise with me, cheeky Londoner with a V8 manual. But let's face it, it's difficult not to smile when you're anywhere on the other side of 7,000 revs in that car.
