Biggest question is not having the defensive genius Belichick around. With him around, the secondary would always be good because he would figure out a way. That was his specialty. They have more than enough talent for Belichick to make it work. This is where we can start grading the new guys. If the defense struggles this year then we know that Mayo is not much of a defensive mind (at least compared to Belichick which may be unfair). And we know that we have more problems than we thought. Also a bad sign because defense is Mayo's only forte and if he can't make sure this defense is good then he has no reason to be here. The Pats will need Mayo to take care of the defense, Van Pelt to take care of the offense and Wolf to take care of the personnel. If any of them aren't up to it then they should be replaced. It's as simple as that.
