John Calvin said the same thing. I see someone in the church distorting the truth and also deceiving the mass bringing shame to the name of Christ by worshiping Mary when the scriptures are so clear, it’s so frustrating!

Jesus said to HIS disciples "He that would be great among you will come to you as a servant. " The pope is not coming to people as a servant. He lives in a castle and sits on a throne the Cardinals kiss his feet. He is one of the richest men on earth. That is not coming to disciples of Christ as a servant. Pope's wrote the Bible only in Latin. Pope's created the Inquisition responsible for torturing and killing millions of Protestants. Jesus says to love your enemies. Big difference. Do you follow Jesus Word or the Pope's?

Hey Pastor Matt! While I understand why the reformers would take the position of the pope being the/an antichrist, the position is untenable. First, as mentioned in first and second John, the antichrist(s) deny that Jesus is the Christ and that He came in the flesh. Did the reformers or can you name a pope who has done that? This would completely undermine their position and office, so it wouldn’t really make sense. If it isn’t what they’ve actually said, but how they act or something to do with their claimed position itself, it makes equal or even much more sense to consider the Roman emperors instead. What they’ve done to Christian’s historically lines up almost perfectly with these and the other texts in Revelation, adding especially the gematria of 666 working out to Nero Caesar in Hebrew (and the 616 fragments working out the same in Aramaic). Caligula is also a good example. Next, the Vatican is actually outside of Rome and is not on one of the “seven hills” of Rome, so that makes even less sense of this position. Last, as Protestants we don’t take the position that the papacy goes back to the earliest centuries, so how could this be what John was referring to? I personally take a partial preterist view of the Roman emporer being THE antichrist, as well as acknowledging there have been many other similar or typological antichrists in history like the leaders of Russia, Nazi Germany, and China, as well as people like Muhammad and Joseph Smith. 🤷♂️

Oh, I forgot to mention about Catholics killing Protestants, which you seemed to connect to the church being associated with the state. Catholics certainly did these things, but you failed to mention Protestants doing the very same thing. King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I were anti-catholic Protestants guilty of doing the very same things. We should be happy both sides aren’t killing each other any more and not make it seem one sided. If you want to make a distinction by numbers, then the Roman emperor and other secular governments interpretation of the antichrist should carry even more weight.

The antichrist is the opposite of Christ , and as such , he is an alter ego-if Christ love sinners , his counterpart , the antichrist hate sinners...and he is coming into the world to destroy all evil works of sinners...

In Greek, anti means "in place of." The pope is considered VICARIUS CHRISTI, meaning he has the place of Christ on earth. The papacy is indeed the seat of antichrist, just as the reformers all told us.

Who/What is the Antichrist? "The Lord Jesus Christ is the Head of the church...neither can the Pope of Rome in any sense be head thereof, but is that antichrist, that man of sin, and son of perdition, that exalts himself in the church against Christ, and all that is called God; whom the Lord shall destroy with the brightness of his coming." [1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith; Ch. 26, para. 4]. *see also the Westminster Confession, chapter 25, sec. 6. Dr. John Gill's (1697-1771) Commentary on the "man of sin, son of perdition" of 2 Thes. 2:3 "...nor is this to be understood of a certain Jew, that is to be begotten by the devil on a virgin of the tribe of Dan, and who is to reign three years and a half, and then to be destroyed by Christ, which is a fable of the Papists... ...here it intends the whole hierarchy of Rome, monks, friars, priests, bishops, archbishops, cardinals, and especially popes, who may well be called "the man of sin," because notoriously sinful... ...this haughty creature antichrist assumes to himself all power, both in heaven, earth, and hell. Angels are sometimes called gods, Psalm 8:4 because they are sent of God, and sometimes represent him; the popes of Rome have exalted themselves above these.." This is Historic, Bible-believing Protestantism! Shame that so many who call themselves 'bible-believing Christians' today are being deceived by Futurist and/or Preterist nonsense and false teaching concerning the identity of the Antichrist. *Soli Deo Gloria*

You make a good point that once you know who Christ is then you wouldn't be deceived to acknowledge a false Christ. Then why do you believe in the Trinity which is a doctrine central to the Pope but not found in Scripture? 1 John 2:3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love. John specifically points out who God is. God is the Father. Christ is the son of the Father, ie. the Son of God. John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. Jesus has a God. Jesus' God is his Father. John 7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. Hebrews 5:7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; Jesus' victory was acknowledging God's authority and submitting to it through perfect obedience and holiness. Through his victory he is able to be a mediator between God and man. 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

You quoted John, but you failed to quote the very first chapter of the book of John where he lays it out plain as day that Jesus IS God made flesh.

@@jamescrumbaker3169 You may be thinking of John 1:14 and 18 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. 18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. The above is the text as found in the King James Version. Modern versions have corrupted verse 18 and made it make no sense. 18 No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known. NIV It says that no one has seen God, but then the bit added in the modern version goes back on that - "who is himself God". This adds total confusion when examining the beginning of the verse - "No one has ever seen God" No one has seen the Father. People saw Jesus though, and that's because Jesus is the Son of God, but not God himself. Jesus shows us who God is. He was sent to show us who his Father is, what His purpose is and what His values and character is. As previously stated - John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. Jesus has a God. Jesus' God is his Father.

@@homevids Yes, but in John 14:9-11, the Bible states: 9 Jesus said unto him, I have been so long time with you, and hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me, hath seen my Father: how then sayest thou, Show us thy Father? 10 Believest thou not, that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? The words that I speak unto you, I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. 11 Believe me, that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me: at the least, believe me for the very works’ sake. There's also the beginning of John 1:1 where it states: 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Jesus is that Word. We're all here because of Jesus. Jesus is God as much as the Father is God. Now that's from the KJV, so I don't know how anyone could argue it was mistranslated. It's even clearer in the Geneva Bible (which I actually prefer to the King James Version). But, if you need more verses that claim Jesus and the Father are one, look no further than in John 17:11 where the Bible states: 11 And now am I no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep them in thy Name, even them whom thou hast given me, that they may be one as we are. There's also other verses that reiterate this if it wasn't clear enough later on in the chapter. Especially verse 22. I don't think the Bible is contradicting itself when Jesus says "I am" in John 8:58

@@jamescrumbaker3169 John 14:9 Jesus showing the Father to his disciples was Jesus showing the purpose and character of God to them. Jesus was reflecting his Father's character. When we receive these teachings and live in them and become transformed then we can achieve the unity that God desires and truly be a part of God's family. The oneness that the Trinity theory seeks to impose is physical. But this is not what is being referred to, what is focused on here is the doctrine of God's glory / character and how Jesus was showing his Father's righteousness and so having unity with his Father. Jesus desires that we have the same relationship with God so that we can partake of the same unity. John 7:16-18 16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. 17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. 18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. Here Jesus quite clearly states that this teaching comes from God alone, and that he is not the source of it. Mark 10:17,18 17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? 18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. Here Jesus states again that he is not the source of righteousness or goodness. Jesus learnt this from God, his Father. Luke 2:40 40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. Here we see that Jesus was developing in wisdom and God's favor was on Jesus. It's not possible to reconcile this with the Trinity teaching. But if you believe that God is the Father, and Jesus is the Son of God, then everything makes sense and is completely comprehendible.

One, I'm not Roman Catholic. The closest denomination I would say that I align with would be Protestant. Two, the Trinity is a core belief in Protestantism, and I believe it is an essential doctrine to Christians. Three, when Jesus walked the earth, he was showing us how to be obedient by making himself obedient. He never admonished people for worshipping him as God. He is the Son of God, and He is one with God. Just as the Holy Spirit is one with God and is God.

The Papacy is certainly the "little horn" (Dan. 7), the "man of sin, son of perdition" (2 Thes. 2), the "sea beast" (Rev. 13:1-10), and the "scarlet harlot" (Rev. 17). The "false prophet" is the "earth beast" (Rev. 13:11-17), a different "beast" than the "sea beast". But they are both Empires ('cuz that's what a "beast" means in Bible prophecy: an Empire).
