The purge is one of those concepts that kinda falls apart under the slightest scrutiny. So much so that they even admit it in the movies.

Haha, was literally going to into the comments to ask why Kyle is so surprised that the one he saw is the worst one considering that seems to be the only time in any of his reactions he doesn't say, "I've never seen any before." But you guys beat me to it.

Ayn Rand was an author whose work included Altas Shrugged. She's also the creator of Objectivism and the main inspiration for Andrew Ryan from Bioshock (The names are a big hint). She's absurdly controversial.

The first movie is considered the worst as the most common criticism being that the whole 'Purge' concept is very underutilized as a backdrop to a by the numbers home invasion film. Whiles the sequels show us how chaotic Purge Nights is general.

Yea like the idea of the purge, I feel it works best when it’s like an anthology type deal with multiple stories happening on the one night

In Anarchy he sorta forgot 2 kills o could have decided it wasn’t confirmed enough. When the “candy girl” in Anarchy shows up at the shop she states that she just killed both her parents before heading to the store.

Was just thinking, the purge would be catastrophic for the economy. Just think of all the business and factories that had multiple employees who were killed and now the business can’t produce the amount of goods it needs to. Or if people with extremely valuable specific skills that basically no one else had. Or just think if they killed like farmers or others that work in the food industry and now there is not enough food to go around

29:10 Lakeith Stanfield is amazing. He played in many important Black films of the 2010s like Selma, Straight Outta Compton, Get Out, the tv show Atlanta, as the lead star of Sorry to Bother You, In 2021 he played in Judas and the Black Messiah and got an Oscar nomination for it.

The Nostalgia Critic did a review on the 1st one and he hated it. He seen the later ones and admitted that they're way better and shows more of the world beyond a rich family's house. The 1st movie said the Purge happens because "It's works" and just that. The later ones admitted that it's designed to kill the lower class

The funny thing is later movies admit the Purge is essentially bupkis dreamed up to cut diwn the lower class. Which makes this whole thing better, because the Purge would be horrible for society as a whole. Not only from killing, but also theft. Yeah, the movies never REALLY address it as it's more about Murder and violence and bleh, but theft would probably be the crime most people get up to, or public drinking. Or public fornication. Or defecation. So yeah, definitely good that the Purge isn't real. But yeah, all that murder would hurt the economy and food deserts prettu hard, because the chances of knifing a guy that plays a role in food/resource production is pretty high, which means that the amount of resources we'll all get is shortened significantly depending on how many of them are killed. That, and if younger people begin killing each ither more than they can reolace each other through you-know-what, then we could cause a repopulation crisis.

16:00 I'm very certain it's mentioned in the film that all emergency services won't be available till the Purge is over. So yea if there's non purge related issues happening? Well sucks to be them I guess

Uh...Googling. It was such a big thing for me but I can't remember the title at all -- Anthem! Wow I barely remember this story at all, even reading the summary. The name stuck with me super strong though. Maybe I'll reread.

I rather like the first movie thw worst for me was the third. I do like action but for me the Purge had a higher psychological and emotional weight which made it more interesting to me. My fav is the second of the franchise of course!!

never watched any of the purge because the premise doesnt really appeal to me as interesting, or it could be interesting if it wouldnt be just an excuse for violence. and like the bits i saw didnt seem good enough, feels like they are not bad enough to be funny and not good enough to be entertaining, so they are just mid - for me. (totally valid if someone feels different.)

Fair. For me personally, the third movie, Election Year is still the best in the series.
