Learn about the lost history of the New Founding Fathers of America, or the NFFA, the dystopian political party known for creating The Purge!
► Subscribe: goo.gl/DT39UP (Don't forget to turn on deathbell notifications!)
The New Founding Fathers of America, or the NFFA, (also known as The New Founders of America or NFA) was the fictional political party that took power in 2014 in the world of The Purge. They are most infamous for their stance on crime; they claimed that aggression is a part of human nature that must be released every year, and created a holiday called The Purge in which all crime was legal for 12 continuous hours.
Of course, you already know that, but you may not have known about the party's storied past detailed on their New Founders of America website and the many installments of The Purge movies and TV series.
In this video I'll be covering the ENTIRE history of the NFFA and The Purge, from their initial election with President Bracken and Chief of Staff Arlo Sabian, to their most notable Purges in 2022 and 2023, to the introduction of the Mercy Cult in 2027, the story of surveillance agent Esme Carmona and the momentous 2040 election involving President Caleb Warrens, Minister Edwidge Owens and many more corrupt and duplicitous politicians.
I'll be analyzing each character and the organization as a whole as we go along.
This video will effectively outline the entire Purge timeline, so I'll also be filling in the gaps of the years not seen on screen, theorizing about timeline placement of each entry and ordering every event in the franchise chronologically. This is the ultimate Purge analysis!
As far as we know, everything is canon, so I'll be including The Purge (2013), The Purge: Anarchy (2014), The Purge: Election Year (2016), The First Purge (2018) and The Purge Season 1 and 2, and the contents of the NFA Website as part of my analysis.

I really like how when the Purge became a popular concept the writers decided to have a movie that responded to critics saying people wouldn’t just straight murder. They said, yep you’re right, people would party and steal not murder. That it was the government who pushed for murder and can’t be trusted. The expanded lore really worked to develop the potential that was only touched on in the first movie and it’s appreciated

In the First Purge the crowds largely just treat the whole thing like a street party. This disappoints the NFFA organisers, who want people to kill each other to reduce population levels. Eventually the organisers despatch mercenaries into Staten Island with orders to kill public housing residents and make it look like the residents started spontaneously killing each other. This nasty bit of manipulation plants the idea of the Annual Purge as a yearly murder festival.

The problem with the Purge movies is that they propose that people follow laws purely because the government enforces them. Laws exist because groups of people MUST have order. If you actually had a purge in a city, you wouldn’t see everyone turn into monsters. Within hours you would see communities band together, create their own rules, defend each other, and mete out vigilante justice to the few psychos who’d act like the nut jobs in these movies.

Yea but still doesn’t help that this government essentially gave the people power that their supposed to return after the end of the event. Not realizing that giving them this sorta power, the people would rebel and end up overthrowing the government and destroying the country as we know it. It’s basically what happened in the Forever Purge. Though I do agree with you Kwayne, their should’ve been more robbing and junk. But their might’ve been that in the Forever Purge

Texas is actually very strict when it comes to crime in general compared to California. Texas (840/100k) has over double the rate people are incarcerated per capita than California (310/100k). It makes sense that Texas wouldn't want people to be legally allowed to commit crimes longer. It would be fair to say Texas would be more opposed to this concept as a whole than California since California likes to just let their criminals go or not prosecute them. And add the social experiment/awesome 70s tv movie called “The Wave” (based on a real experiment) in which a high school teacher turns his class into fervent, violent Nazis within two weeks. The students had argued that the German people were idiots for believing in Hitler’s propaganda. So the teacher approaches it as an experiment. Of course the teacher renames the stated goals of their group’s project but maintains the key ideals, such as the notion that the class of students is the most privileged group in the school, they have formal, elaborate social rituals that show “respect,” and they get all sorts of special favors while outsiders are just “lesser” and must be called out and humiliated for their inferiority,. The “humiliations” become horrible “punishments.” In spite of their initial belief that they would never have “fallen for” Nazi propaganda, the students lose their inhibitions and fall into it with stunning enthusiasm and even naïveté. The Purge universe is creepily intelligent and aware in its literary/pop culture/historical references…seriously, bravo Purge creators.

Not sure this was mentioned before but yes that study that they had Adams do actually had scientific evidence in the real world. I’m sorry I cannot sight the real study but it was found that repeated exposure to violence including imagery and sounds can cause the brain of some to actually crave more violence. A similar study conducted through anger management has found that acting out the emotion immediately caused people to have more violent responses. If the person is allowed to cool off or calm down, they were more likely to not have such adverse reactions. A common reaction was found in words: Allowing people to act violent when they are angry resulted in words like: kill, harm, hurt, etc But allowing them to calm down resulted in different words: Kiss instead of kill, happy in place of hurt or harm, etc.

running man is a variation on purge Purge is we do this once a year, and we purge and then comeback next year running man is a every day situation , also running man seems to only purge victims that it deems as criminals... In a sense Running man . and the video game smash TV on Nintendo are bringing back Roman like Gladiatorial sports.. but its a choice future people can make... do we do a purge , or do we bring back gladiatorial sports ? in gladiatorial sports we can purge every day or perhaps every week on sunday.. any given sunday is gladitor games instead of NFL football but only those that our society deems as criminals and misfits and then purge them and the rest of society is safe.

Who do you think came up with the idea? Google "Operation Northwoods," it's just one of MANY "contingency plans" the government has to deal with "unexpected" problems. (To be fair, that is part of the purpose of government, but human nature: You must prove your worth. Must get promoted, or at least keep your position. How do you do that? More and more contingencies, but also: more and more risk from the citizens, since government is misappropriating funds. Rome fell the same way, so did Byzantium. We're next, if we don't do a HARD reset. FedGov sees American citizens as the problem. Not the ones rioting... Not the ones looting. Not the ones burning and murdering. The ones who are working, and believe in hard work, and the Constitution. Believing in limits on FedGov is HERESY! And they will send The Spanish Inquisition! Cue Monty Python. Had to lighten it up. Look up what we KNOW they've done, that is evil. And soon you realize: NOTHING is beyond their range of activities. Murder and targeted assassination, medical emergencies - like a pandemic - black sites like in Chicago... Dosing citizens with LSD... Milgram experiments... NOTHING is off the table with these people, they would happily make Hell on Earth, just to profit from our misery. Nothing new under the sun, in that sense. Wheel of History turns...)

1971 refers to the Attica Prison Riot. The 1986 Postal shooting happened in Oklahoma when an employee turned a gun on his co-workers, killed 14 and wounded 6. It is the shooting that coined the term "Going Postal". I think you do a great job, I had to go find "Person I'm Married to" to say "SEE! I am NOT the only person who digs down this hard and looks at EVERYTHING in the shot to build that character's back story OR to figure out "WHEN" this takes place. It makes Person crazy when I do this and I am so damn glad you are out there breaking it down and showing a timeline. I work as a writer in television, and nailing down dates and making sure "WHICH Civil War are you talking about? Because I know five that are still going on!" is my job. The Staten Island experiment is similar to C19. Why would they choose Staten Island and not Manhattan in the movie? Well "according" to New Yorkers, [their quote not mines] and this is real "We don't represent Staten Island as a borough", so for it to be disposable in the experiment, it was fitting. NYC was the 1st experimental State NOT FEDERAL, to force their citizens to get the Faucci ouchie shot. So there's my interpretation of when Hollywood imitates real life.

You know what would be cool? Would if they make another one, named ‘The Purge: Empire’ Where the NFFA has managed to conquer Canada, the rest of North America, and because most already knew how horrible they were, only those who are registered NFFA citizens are the ones that they see as contributing to society. And because they still need to deal with even more poverty, they allow the purge to last for one whole month. However, during that month, it would only be legal during night time so that everyone can get break. Eventually it gets so bad to the point that for another story, ww3 starts in America, or ww4 if ww3 already happened during the time it would take place.

New American Order Population: 685,000,000 Capital: Washington D.C Ruling party: NFFA Government: Authoritarian police state Largest city: New York City After 33 purges since 2017, the NFFA sought to expand their Purge ideals far and wide across the Americas, and in 2050, Canada was first. A global coalition forms to stop the NFFA, thus beginning WWIII. For the duration of the invasion of Canada, the Purge was to be postponed due to the need for manpower on the battlefield. Due to recent military advancement to strengthen their grip on the US, the NFFA was able to sweep through Mexico City and Central America, as well as the Carribean. With Europe not being able to match the technological and military might of the NFFA, they sign a humiliating peace, practically handing North America to the NFFA. Realtalk: it would be interesting what the world thinks about the Purge thing (not only on the first test). Especially after 7 years. I think the US is more or less isolated in this timeline. I could also imagine that the UN no longer has its seat in New York

I think most Cdns would view it as crazy and would either offer people an escape route so they didn't have to participate or we would close the border so the crazy didn't escape across to us. Not sure which one we would do.

In the tv show they talked how everyone is doing business in the world while American has to lock down buildings and such and that they had to do everything online. Realistically I think American would just fall at that point especially with all the problems in that universe they had before, and yes if America does survive then they would be VERY isolated and probably be one the worse countries to live in.

I would love a game where we could choose whether to be a person fighting back against purgers or the person killing and having a great timeline where we have to stop them and then having an online mode where you choose to be a rich person purging with a high bounty or being a poor person who has to fight and gain the rich person status
