When James start Talking about Genie I thought of this quote for Dr.Doofenshmirtz "You know what I never understood? Genies. They tell you to wish for whatever you want but then they add some terrible twist. Like you wish to jump high so they turn you into a frog. Why? Who gains from that? The genie? Where's the benefit?"

The point, like any mythological antagonist, is the moral lesson: nothing is free, everything gained comes with a price and the bigger the instant gain is, the bigger the price is. For horror sake, this version of the story results in the death of the wisher regardless what they wish for. So I especially appreciate the writers adding in the time-old example of a djinn wish gone wrong with the guys mum dying as the price for him to instantly gain $1M.

I love this movie, but I can't get over how the Wishmaster can twist the most straightforward wishes, yet he just gives in to the protagonist's wish to change the past. Like, he could've said, "Okay, the guy didn’t drink that day, but he smoked crack instead."
@weeping_me362

I think how much a wish can be twisted depends on the wording. Alex was very specific on the wording of her wish, the Djin couldn't really do anything else

7:24-7:27 "He's no longer Kid Buu, he's Super Buu" Fun fact to any Dragon Ball Z Abridged fans. Cell's voice actor, Takahata101, has mentioned that one of his inspirations when doing the voice for Imperfect Cell was the Wishmaster. As well as the original Funimation's Cell voice, and Zorak from Spaceghost. I've never seen this film, but when listening to his voice, especially 8:47-8:56, I can definitely imagine it. 16:03 ...because remember: just like james said in the emesis blue kill count, in order for mass event kills to be counted, the disaster must have some sort of visual representation AND a serious in-universe number given to account for all the kills. That was what allowed the DBPM 3 kill count to take the Kill Count Championship with its record of 4295 kills back in 2022... before the emesis blue kill count broke (or more accurately, OBLITERATED) that kill count's record with it's JAWDROPPING 800,054 kills last year.

@@brigidmadden5577I wouldn’t call it alive and kicking. It’s only got about 100-200k followers left, most of them live in either India or Iran and in Iran it’s for the most part practiced in secret or private. And that number drops every year. I love the Zoroastrian religion but it is definitely on its way to being extinct in the next couple hundred years unless something drastic changes

You know what, I definitely see it, too! JC is like the scrawny sub-species of Djinn lol Fun cannon: what if JC was a djinn that lost their power/'lamp'? Still being a dimensional being, it's body keeps rotting away as it's stuck powerless in this foreign realm. So it found a way to harvest body parts from the realm-native beings to replace his own degrading ones, and goes into extensive sleep cycles to preserve energy between harvests. It's drawn to "fear" because, as a Djinn, it'd be drawn to humans who are in particular emotional distress cause those are the easiest to get wishes from

James said he didn’t care much for Alex’s storyline, but I disagree. The Djinn playing off her trauma and empathy for others made for a more tense story. And it was so rewarding when she was able to take a moment at the climax to figure out how to outwit him, in spite of her sister’s life being dangled before her.
