Is the RIMOWA Trunk Worth the Hype?

Rimowa Trunk
RIMOWA the luxury luggage. In this video I am sharing my thoughts on the RIMOWA TRUNK PLUS luggage.
Trunk Dimensions: 73cm X 44cm (from my measurement is around 34cm) x 36.5 cm
Other RIMOWA luggages behind in this video:
Smaller Silver one- Flight, Cabin size, Manufactum Edition; Dimension: 52cm x 36cm x 23.5cm (39litres)
Pros: the opening/lock is secure, looks amazing, robust wheels, well made and sturdy.
Cons: In some airlines, there is a weight limit of 7kg or 10kg on carry on cabin luggage, then this cabin suitcase by itself is weighted is already 3.5kg, won't be able to fit much under the limits.
Big red luggage: Salsa Deluxe, Dimension 64cm x 43cm x 27.5cm (60 litres). This RIMOWA luggage is made with Polycarbonate.
Pros: its light weight, Secure even with the zip; Double Zipping its unable to poke it opens with a sharp objects. String wheels, Hard to damage / dent / scratch, it can easily wipe it clean.
Cons: can be broken by heavy force or crack, not as secure as the Aluminium suitcase, expensive.
Small red check-in luggage: RIMOWA Salsa Deluxe, cabin size;
Dimension 54cm x 38cm x 21.5cm (32 litres)
Pros: good looking and very stylish, lighter than the aluminium, strong wheels.
Cons: not the lightest check in luggage , if there is a weight limit of 7/10kg, then its not ideal. (samsonite cosmolite is lighter)
The mini RIMOWA clutch , cute little vanity clutch to carry in the luggage.
Overall all RIMOWA has the comment advantages:
RIMOWA luggage have double bars, instead of T-bar. Double bar advantage; when you are pulling the luggage, it sturdier. As I have used T -bar in the past, it tilted side to side when turning.
-RIMOWA wheels are very strong, after 10 years of multiple travels each year. The Wheels are still going very strong, nothing falling apart or not rotating. Their wheels can turn 360 degrees. As I have Delsey and Samsonite, the RIMOWA wheels are more robust.

Is the black trunk you reviewed is the plus or the regular trunk size ??because when you showed the comparison picture in the store it looked similar in height to the XL model.

hi @OSHTVChannel, a lot of people say it is ok to check it normally with Trunk Plus, just not XL.

Went to my local Rimowa store today and compared the original M vs L check in. I wanted the M but side by side the L was not significantly larger. Weighs 1.8 lbs more than the M and is $150 more. The staff told me that the L check in and trunk size are more popular than the M check in ( limited stock). I thought the trend is towards smaller luggage or carry on even for 3 week trips. Now I'm undecided on sizes. My thinking was to get the M and buy a low cost brand L to pack souvenirs and gifts to go home with me. Your opinion, M or L. Thanks.

Hi @user-cj4gt6yw2k, in my opinion I will buy L, because I always pack 1/3 or less than half of the luggage. Leaving more room to buy for souvenirs/ gifts on the way back home 😃 so no need to separate two luggages 👍

I went with the trunk regular because since it is the biggest you could check in without paying extra and you have to check the bag anyway. I actually travel more with my check-in M for trips where I only need to pack a little extra for a week trip. For longer trips, having the trunk is like having a portable drawer and it makes things quite a bit easier.

Thinking of buying the original or hybrid check in M. I like the recessed latches which have less chance of damage when thrown around by baggage handlers IMHO. My concern is theft at the baggage area because it's a Rimowa. Especially some countries you need to clear their immigration before getting your luggage. If immigration takes a while, I hate the idea of my Rimowa sitting unattended on the carousel. What do you think, not a problem or how do you make your Rimowa unattractive to thieves? Don't want to spend the bucks and have it stolen.

Hi 👋 @user-cj4gt6yw2k, I power walk at my maximum walking speed as soon as I get out from the plane to the immigration. Most of the time if the immigration is not extremely slow, I often waiting at the luggage pick up area before any luggages show up on the belt. I also put an AirTag inside each luggage just in case ☺️

Is there a trunk you can hang clothes in?

Hi 👋, GOYARD Armoire travel trunk will be the closest for a trunk that has hangers to hang clothes. Louis Vuitton used to make these as well but I haven’t seen any modern Louis Vuitton trunks with hangers. I have seen the Armoire Trunk in person at the GOYARD Store at Paris and I think it’s too big, heavy and maybe not as durable for air travel. They were made more for long sea cruises or sea travel

May I ask what the sizes are from right to left @0:58? To me it looks like Trunk S, Trunk, Trunk Plus and Trunk XL, meaning you purchased the Trunk Plus? Or did you buy the smaller Trunk in black?

Hi Juju👋, I think the SA told me the first small is essential, and my black is trunk and the one bigger than mine is plus, the XL is out of stock

@@RomeoMamaChannel Hmmm. Please don't take this the wrong way or as that I'm trying to argue, but I think the SA may have been mistaken.... All of the trunks in the picture are "Original" for sure... And the XL is the only trunk with two equal halves so that's definitely the one on the end...and the Plus and XL are the only trunks that are the same height so the black one next to it should be the Plus... Maybe when they said out of stock they meant ones that weren't floor models or in black?
