The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is a beast of a smartphone and at $1300 is certainly in contention for the best Android phone around. However, does it do enough even 6 months later? And is it too clinical to feel special? Find out in my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra 6 month review!

@@seanwilliams9436 Wholeheartedly agree with you on the iPhone. The iPhone has been out for how many years, and Apple STILL hasn't innovated with their UI? Apple on the other hand has been stuck in neutral for years and it's no wonder people prefer Android to iOS.

Well, I respect your opinion, but I think that in this situation, one of the few statements by Steve Jobs that I agree with is: 'Customers don’t know what they want until you show them.' Personally there's no way the s24 ultra should be boring. The problem is we live in an era where everybody has their face glued into a phone majority of the time so if it gets boring it's probably a sign that it's time to start interacting with people without having an electronic device in our ear or our face. That's probably why the battery life on the fold don't last that long because they're trying to get people to have something to enjoy but not consume their life anymore than what these phones already have.

The thing is that these days, people do most of their daily tasks on their phones, so it's natural they spend a lot more time on their devices. And there's nothing wrong with it, you know why? Actually, that is horse and buggy thinking. One plus utilizes 80 w fast charging here in the United states. They overcame the battery degradation issue by developing new technology. Their flagship devices utilize more than one battery cell inside the device. The wattage is divided among that and the heat dissipates much faster. Thus, there is no battery degradation. The problem Samsung and Apple have is that OnePlus owns the patent for their super vooc charging. At the end of the day, Samsung and Apple are behind the times. I have 1 + devices from several years ago that utilize that same technology and their batteries work perfectly.

Got my S24 Ultra a few weeks ago. It's an amazing phone and the best phone I've ever used. It's also my first Ultra phone. Design is subjective, and I bought the phone because of its design, display, and flat screen. I'm a business executive, and this design suits me better. The only downside for me is the selfie camera, but I'm not a camera person, so it's not a big deal. Coming from Oppo's and Xiaomi's, I'm in love with my S24 Ultra. I've never encountered a single problem with my S24 Ultra, be it software or hardware, but with my other phones, it was hit or miss. Hands down, it's the best Android out there, bro, no contest. After having many OnePlus and Oppo phones, I now have the S24 Ultra. The OnePlus and Oppo Super VOOC charging is quick due to having 2 batteries in parallel, but putting a lot of watts into a small space creates a lot of heat, l found battery degradation to be fairly quick. Also the software updates were slow, and only for a few years. I managed to purchase the S24 Ultra using the Samsung shopping app, first use gave me 10% discount, plus I got £200 cashback and a free Samsung 5 pro watch. So with discounts, I didn't pay much above £900, and I got the £300 watch free. I really don't like the camera bump on the latest Chinese phones, I much prefer the design of the S24 Ultra, it's not boring. My son has the Apple 15 pro max, another good phone but in my personal opinion this does look boring. I would highly recommend the S24 Ultra.

Truthfully, I looked at the s24 ultra and the OnePlus 12. Obviously, Samsung is an incredible product but, so is oneplus. I didn't need an s pen and I didn't care about the titanium frame. In addition, I still have oneplus flagships that I purchased several years ago and they all work perfectly. Thus, I upgraded to the oneplus 12. It runs silky smooth and it's stacked with features. I've been arguing that they have, because we are at a "technological plateau", hence most manufacturers heavily marketing the AI features as their USP. One can still use an older flagship, say one made in 2022, and still not miss a lot of the newer features. To most, they are just convenient, not features you'd need on a day to day. I suspect we might see more of modular/openable/ DIY repairable devices making a comeback. That would be an interesting feature to bring back.

Coming from the S21 Ultra and the 10x to 5x lens is noticeable at 30x but tbh images but hardly a show stopper especially as its filled that gap where the s21 s23u were so bad (5x to 9.9x). I feel the criticism here about it being bland has some weight, but not much. Samsung just know they're onto a good thing and haven't changed it up too much (similar to the iPhone). Where Samsung are leaps and bounds ahead of Apple (in my view) is the software experience. Multi tasking on One UI 6.1 is excellent with so many great features and customisations that you just keep finding. I don't want my phone to be more than a tool, from the exterior. I customize my own UI and change it all to my liking; that's the part that's interesting and unique. The phone itself should be a utilitarian piece of hardware, which the S24 Ultra excels at. It's a "perfect" slab phone, and it doesn't need to be more than that. If you want weird and experimental, go for a folding phone. Beyond that, there's not much worth experimenting with phones now. Bad designs just create more ewaste. With 7 years of updates, the S24 isn't TOO good, it's just fantastic, and that shouldn't be a mark against it.

I couldn't disagree more. I always hated Samsung designs, except the Note. The Note was interesting, it looked professional but still a beast, it's literally the best of both Worlds, you can take it to meetings, be super productive with it, and then enjoy all forms of entertainment on it like no other phone. It's what Blackberry should've aimed to become in order to stay relevant these days. When Samsung launched the S21 I almost loved it, but the camera setup just looked bad for me, I didn't like the way it stood up from the rest of the phone, like a different piece of it. Same thing was happening to OnePlus (my favorite brand) after the OnePlus 9 Pro, the camera module just took too much attention and you either loved it or you hated it, I was on the side that hated it. Since the Galaxy S22 Ultra that I have been amazed by Samsung, they figured it out, the perfect phone (at least for me). The design is sleek, stealth and elegant while bursting with power and with all the premium features like the S Pen that makes it stand out but in a proper non flashy way. I completely disagree that it lacks character, it simply lacks the character you are looking for. It's like me saying the new OnePlus lacks character when it clearly doesn't, it simply doesn't suit the character I'm looking for in a phone. I'm now able to have a productivity power house, perfect for taking notes during meetings, working virtually anywhere thanks to Dex, and whenever I'm done with it just be able to play all my favorite games, without compromising on the aesthetics that are so important to me.

The seven years of software support really is a big deal. As someone that has used iPhones for years simply because I know I can use them for 5-6 years without having to worry about security updates running out, this is a big Samsung selling point for me. It makes handing the phone down to a family member much more viable and helps hold overall device value. And I like that the phone styling is boring and minimal. Fits my personality, haha. I'm really tempted to pick this up for my work phone. There are already some decent deals to be had for it so that's not helping my temptation. This just feels like a really solid overall device that, if cared for, will last for years.

It has matured as a phone and a system that you feel familiar with it, that feeling of opening/getting a new phone is gone as people so not switch brands as often as they are used to. They are locked to the ecosystem of each phone manufacturer.

Why would you buy this phone if you're not using the SPen 90% of the time? It's a phone in its own league. It's from the classic note series of phones that the legacy is tremendous. When you talk about the S24 Ultra, you best be using the SPen. It's a productivity and creativity beast. The slab industrial design language is exquisite. The flat, sharp edges, corners, and surfaces make this so gorgeous. If it were more like the Redmagic 9 Pro, then oooooo perfect. This is for the creative prosumers.

I have been with Samsung since the Galaxy S8+, S21U, S23U and this the very best by far. It's and a very sophisticated pocket computer while having a great phone reception, which mean a wonderful radio from Qualcomm. This is a keeper for minimum of 3 to 4 years easily.

Obviously, it's a technological masterpiece. However, that masterpiece comes at a ridiculous $1,300-$1,600. Frankly, that price makes me want to check my birth certificate just to make sure that I wasn't born yesterday. Seriously, if I were in the market for a flagship Samsung I would choose the s24 Plus over the ultra. Samsung gave the plus series some much-needed upgrades this year. Best of all, the s24 plus comes in around $1,000. Unless you need an s pen and some bits of gimmicky titanium it's a much better value.

So your argument is that the phone nails all the fundamentals and even packs in excellent extras for some niches and yet you’d like it more if it had goofier design like the Pixel or ‘character’ or other intangible stuff that the majority don’t care about. Okay, as a boring iPhone user, maybe I just don’t get it.

My honest opinion..I'm into these huge screen, very minimal bezels phones and this s24u (n the Nubia z60 ultra) fits d bill perfectly...problem is the s24u is absolutely expensive (at least where I come from...) and it "only" offers 12gb ram (even d Nubia offers 16gb)...the op12 offers 24gb ram 1tb storage for much lower price...even price for the "latest" Xiaomi 14 ultra n Vivo x100 ultra is lower than the s24u...but minus the screen of the s24u/Nubia z60u that I love.. So technically my only issue with the s24u is the price and the "only 12gb ram"...but it's a gorgeous GORGEOUS phone...

While your tone sounds negative for a lot of viewers, I can understand your point though. I got mine because of the heavy preorder deals. Coming from a note 10 plus, the biggest improvements for me were the video recording (the stabilization is pretty much the best among android phones now) and slightly better image processing. The best feature for me is the anti-reflective screen. I wish all smarthones would adopt this soon. Apart from that, it still feels very similar to my Note 10 plus albeit being snappier and the battery lasting longer, but it's not like my note 10 plus was a turtle by any means. Had the updates not stopped, I would've stayed until they ran it out. The last Samsung phones that had that wow factor for me in terms of design was the S8 and the note 10 plus. It's been pretty stale after that.

I'd choose the S24 Ultra over anything else, it's screen is finally Flat and the corners are barely rounded off, it's bright AF and the hole punch is super tiny, no one can touch it, a multi tasking beast, Good Lock combined with your launcher of choice(Nova for me) it's heavily heavily customizable, the Camera module doesn't stick out obnoxiously far, the whole package is so clean, I use the S-Pen a tonne for notes, drawing and remote shutter and it's blandness, I feel it's simple and streamlined, for me it's not bland because of how heavily it can be customized(when most people pick up my phone they are like 'wtf bruh🔥' which is mostly due to goodlock) and for the exterior it's so popular that the case range for it is one of the highest for Android phones. I feel this opinion on the S24Ultra is either Clickbait/comment seeking or user error

I feel like reviewers say that there's nothing special about product X and product Y because they got so used to and numb to the high end products. Products that are "Too Perfect" just becomes average and boring to them. Hence, why they're so amazed at products that are half the price that does what its supposed to. But for a person like me that's using the OnePlus 7 and iPhone 12 Pro Max, I would love to sell my phones and get the S24 Ultra instead. It has so much going for it but gets severely downplayed mainly because its "boring". Also, the photos and videos are fine. You can shoot in manual mode and output raw, and edit them later on. Not using Manual Mode isn't a reason to complain that the pictures it takes as a whole is not good enough. This is just a user not exploring the capabilities of the phone. No ProRes Log? Lets be honest, the percentage of people that actually use that are so low anyway to the point its negligible. If you're a professional or wanting to be a professional you'd already have a camera that does a better job anyway. Also I've seen so many videos about S24 Ultra being used to shoot cinematic videos with the right equipment, setup, and most importantly, knowledge. It seems ignorant that you didn't try or mention this. "I really wanna love it". But according to you its "Too Perfect", what else do you need to love it?

Through all of these upgrades, the only thing noticeable is the Cameras(obviously), extra storage and the addition of the S-pen. The rest is all cosmetics.
