Is The Sekimeiya: Spun Glass Worth It?

The Sekimeiya: Spun Glass is a visual novel that is almost pure story and very little gameplay. When 8 people are stranded in a museum with the mysterious Sekimeiya, a stone that is said to have magic powers, strange things start happening. People disappear, and it appears there might be a ninth person trapped with them. How will they get out of this? So let's see if Sekimeiya is worth it!
This visual novel has a lot in common with Steins Gate with the science and format, as it's a straight story with no game play. It also has a heavy influence from 999 and the Zero Escape series with a bunch of unique people trapped in a deadly environment. So if either of those interest you, maybe check out the game!!

If you value game time, don't start a family! Word to the wise hahahaha They do need a certain mood, just like any book does. Instead of playing it, perhaps watch a playthrough, that way you still get the story without having to read it all yourself, you can have it on in the background like an Audio book. It does mean answering the questions might be harder but at least you'll get the story!

Great review! I do want to mention regarding the text taking up the whole screen- that's actually not abnormal for a Visual Novel. In actuality, VNs that don't do that tend to be ADV games- stuff like Steins;Gate & Zero Escape. Sekimeiya is more along the lines of regular Visual Novels, like the Fate series

I have played quite a few visual novels now and they do use a full screen text thing occasionally but the majority of it is in the lower third and that does include Steins;Gate and the Zero Escape series. But other novels i've read are similar with the majority being lower thirds. Now I haven't read the Fate series, it is on my to read list but who knows how long THAT will take lol, so I can't say anything. I think Seki could have used more lower third with character sprites for emotion in the game. Still, what did you think of Sekimeiya?

@@Lytane I really enjoyed it! I don't disagree that the text can be a little in the way, but I also don't really find it that intrusive. I hope more people play the game and can decide for themselves
