A shaky head is a great summer technique. I use them in deeper water with a floating plastic like elaztech. I also pour my own worms that float, so that shaky head stands up more on the bottom. Works great for me!

@LowBrowFishing
@LowBrowFishing Жыл бұрын
@@Darkfire889 A ned rig certainly can float and stand up, but generally they are used with a much smaller plastic. You usually want a shaky head to have a long tail so you can "shake" it and get the tail to wiggle and have action - hence the name "shaky" head.

Thanks Matt. Shakyhead is great when the bites tuff. When that technique first came out I thought it was the greatest thing since the Texas rig. I have since gravitated toward the neko, it just gets more bites. Neko rigged worms have a modified wacky action that bass have to eat. Have you ever seen really small fish pick at a earthworm? They bite the worm in the middle and swim backwards. Bass see a wacky rig worm and think they are stealing it from other fish. That's my theory on wacky and neko working so well.

I like the Xcite bait Maximus , it's also bouyant so it stands up on a Magnum Shaky head. I also fish it as a Neko rig with a 3/16 oz Mustad Tungsten screw in weight . It's accounted for a few 20 lb plus limits which are real nice fish for SW Michigan where I live. I also have Senko shaped worms poured with no salt in them so they stand up , typically pair that up with a 1/4 oz shaky head .

Matt, I didn't have to go further than the title of this video to say to myself resoundingly, YES! In fact, it was never really alive with me. I can do all the bottom damage I need with a Ned Rig. Most of the bass I caught this spring was on a shaky head. The baits that worked the best for me were the trick worm and the roboworm fat. The best color was junebug by a mile. I like the Picasso Rino jig or the Davis Bait shaky head. Instead of a screw lock they both have a notched keeper. The worms just last so much longer. The shaky heads aren't going anywhere. I will never stop using a shaky head-- which is just an oversized Ned when you think about it- or is a Ned an undersized shaky head? Idk which came first but- I love them both. Trick Worms have always been special to me because they were the first thing I learned to fish and caught a bass with. And I kept catching them over the years- my personal best came on a Junebug trick worm fished on a shaky head. I throw a lot of creature baits on them to- they never get hung up because the hook point is covered, they fish in and out of the light cover around the banks really well- and they get bit. It keeps your craw standing up in a defensive posture. The Missile Baits Quiver works really well, and if you like magnum shaky heads check out The Wormser.

The big bite baits Squirrel tail worm is money on a shaky head The tail is slimmer than the body of the bait and it has a bulb on the end of it that floats. Even when you are not moving the bait the tail gets pushed around by the water so you get great movement even when it is sitting still.
