If you've got the option for anamorphic, what would you shoot next?

in the 2d lockdown (Belgium): a mini documentary about a beautifull (and tastefull) kind of chickens in Flanders that didn't survive the second world war in this country, while this race was exported before that war to America, UK and Australia and is now rehabitated in Flanders. This race of chickens had also influenced painters in the past, and is a kind of cultural heritage of this Belgian region. I have to use the GH5 for this project, because of stability issues with other camera's, but it is great with gh5 you can film in 6K anamorphic mode, and stretch it to 16:9 in post while still having an anamorphic image (bokeh, movement, light effects). For fast moving subjects (chickens) I find it a challenge learning to focus with this lens, but once you nailed the focus, paradise is regained (truly). I am hoping we will all survive the pandemic and move on to more serious projects...

I shoot with this game changing lens almost exclusively since it came out. I have the 35mm pre-ordered, and will shoot a ton with that when it gets here. I love the scrappy technical disruptor that they are with these lenses. I'm super excited about what other companies will do in this space.

Absolutely is a game changer! I can't wait to get my hands on the 35mm either. From what I've seen it looks incredible!!

Thank you for your beautifull footage with the sirui 50mm anamorphic! I have one in my possesion now, and the quality of this lens is amazing. Though, on blackmagic pocket 4K, smallrig offset plate and ronin S, I can't get stable results, which is unfortunately a deal breaker for using in projects (small docu, ...) The gimbal is correctly balanced. With a leica 12-60mm with image stabilisation and blackmagic on the ronin s, I have steady results, but not with this one. The sirui 50mm behaves as a telelens on mft and has no image stabilation... result= non steady footage all the time, unless if I mount it on a camera with internal image stabilisation (GH5), but the pocket has better colorimetry... What do you recommend?

Is the Ronin S strong enough for a BMPCC4K with the lens? Might be worthwhile testing the new Ronin RS2 and see how it compares to the S, as it seems like the RS2 is built for bigger cameras (Such as the Canon 1DX III). The motors on the Ronin S might be straining, resulting in unsteady footage. It sucks though! I've been looking at gimbals, but up until the release of the Ronin RS2, nothing seemed like it would be able to do the job for my BMPCC4K, so I've been going handheld or on a tripod for all my shots. If the S or RS2 can't cut it, then I'm afraid you might have to look at something like the Ronin 2 which is built for heavy payloads but costs a lot more. Hope you find something that works for you! Thank you so much for watching and commenting! Really appreciate the support!

Does it work with the Panasonic Lumix G81 ? I want to buy a camera for filming, friends told me I should not invest in a cheap Lens. Should I buy it (this Lens) with the Lumix G81 or G70 (a camera like the Blackmagic would kill my budget), or should I invest more money in the body and don't buy an Anamorphic Lens?

I reckon it will work on the G81 as it has the Micro 4/3 sensor and mount. I guess it all comes down to what type of projects you're working on and if the use of an anamorphic would benefit the look and feel of your project. Definitely invest more in your lenses than your camera. I would also always advise against buying a cheap lens, but the way this lens is built doesn't give you the feeling of it being cheap at all. If you've got a gear house nearby, maybe ask them if they have one of these lenses for you to test out before buying it.
