We live in a world so casual and so subjective that dressing well becomes the anti-cultural and rebellious

uh it's been like that for long time. Different styles always existed, and always had your rebel trends, hippy outfits, bell bottoms, supreme hyphy beast, just different periods of time. Suit is timeless piece not a trend. It doesn't matter what trends exist. People are fine to dress casual, I work in leadership and the casual dress code is there to weed out those who do the bare minimum. Your not mark zuckberg or a rapper so being casual or dressing street is not going to help you advance unless that is your persona for your music tour/brand, or you already have established your self at the top. The world is not casual, i've been to Europe and everyone is dressed sharp. It was the firs ttime I went into a custom suit store, the owner said he knew I was american cause of my outfit lol It was the first time I knew about custom and tailored clothes and really saw the difference it makes compared to buying a baggy shirt/suit off the rack at macys

I think we're at that point right now, actually. And we go out of our way being more formal and professional, unlike most others.

3:13 - 3:19 is my motivation for dressing up for work. I have the privilage to teach a very important subject for a living and when asked why I get dressed up by my students or my peers, I respond by telling them I feel it removes many visual boundaries and gives me an edge in conveying the seriousness of what I'm teaching. I believe that a lot of learning is visual and if I dress up, it let's my class feel more at ease about the messages I am trying to get them to understand. My boss also feels this way and says "we dress for the job we want, and not the job we have." I hope the suit never dies, but I agree, it's not every day wear...especially here in Hawaii. Aloha gents!

I work at a major aerospace engineerijg company, and I'm surprised by how casually people dress. I wear a suit and it gets me places and gives me credibility.

My opinion, suits will never die. Maybe because there are so many businesses that are trying to create a more relax atmosphere is causing it to appear that way. But the art of wearing a suit is here to stay. There is no better feeling, well a few, then being well dressed and looking good! I love wearing suits. Wish I could wear them more. Nice video gentlemen, cheers!

NOTE: The Suit Can Never completely Die. Why: For it has always lost and gain popularity over the century. Let's say 50% of people wear suits? Then it drops down to 25% or less. As you said Joshua, some new trend always bring the Suit back. Good Show.

This is THE time to wear a suit! Now that more and more people are dressing casually, those of us who don’t will shine that much brighter. It’s like a stock that’s about to go up.

I've worked in retail for the past few years and started watching KZbin videos on men's fashion. I prefer to wear a suit everyday regardless if I got work or not. I don't think that suits will ever die.

I work in IT. If I'd decide to wake up and straight-up walk to my office in my pajamas, no one would bat an eye. If I'd decide to show up in a suit though, everyone would start raising eyebrows. This is not an exaggeration. In fact, in one of the buildings I used to work at, one of the departments had a policy where you had to exchange your shoes for a pair of slippers when entering the office. The engineers were working literally in slippers and sweatpants.

I have seen the majority (almost all) of people who wear a suit to a job interview get the job. People that dont like to wear suits can respect that fact that someone cared enough to put effort into their appearance.

My opinion is that suits will NEVER die and here's why. If you think about it even way back in the 1600s men wore suits. The waist-coats etc. they wore would differentiate them from others in society, it would be thought of as having a higher role. What we think of as a suit and how it looks, has evolved dramatically over the past 400 years but the role it plays has not changed in society very much.

I hear both arguments but I believe suits are actually on the rise. It may not be with the tech companies. I’ve never seen Mark Zuckerberg in a suit. Maybe once before Congress. But I believe fashion goes with the top celebrities. In the States, athletes and rappers are taking pride in custom suits. I believe with them leading the way it will trickle down and suits will become more popular within fashion. Maybe not on an everyday level but more on a casual wear means throwing a suit. I feel the conversation about suits have been on the rise within the last 3-5 years.

I would say for the newcomers post 2013-14 Instagram boom yes it died, I’ve watched different sartorial channels turn into full blown street wear channels. But I’ve been into sartorialism since a teenager and it’s a lifestyle to me from work to leisure. The street wear trend is here however which it has its place honestly.

I think formal wear is going to change but not die. We may move away from wool into mainstream stretch suits. Cardigans/gillets may become the norm also i see jacket trouser and T shirt becoming a work staple for more low level employees/modern tech companies.

#1 the world is very casual now. i don't think the suit will die, but i don't think it will ever get back to that top position. i live in singapore, where ppl don't wear suits to even interviews for a corporate job. i think being in a suit will make me very overdressed and while a little bit over is good, going too much may lead to ppl feeling uncomfortable/uneasy while interacting. but i very much wish to wear suits at least a few times in a month.
@qarhsi5 жыл бұрын
@Trav not a problem due to the suit. I'm saying ppl will start feeling uncomfortable if you're dressed in a suit at work while they are just wearing shirt and pants.
@IronDrummer915 жыл бұрын
Trav if you’re coming in as a consultant and working daily with clients where it isn’t in their culture, then it CAN send off negatively

@IronDrummer915 жыл бұрын
Trav to each their own, but wearing a suit, or being extremely overdressed in the wrong context can give off an intimidating vibe, and also an insecure one
@qarhsi5 жыл бұрын
@Trav not necessarily. I want to be better dressed than the ppl around me. But that doesn't mean wearing a suit every single time. There is a need to be appropriate. I think it's better to dress one notch or two above what others are wearing, but not something that is very far off. Let me give you an example. If someone is required to wear a business suit to work and he wears a tuxedo, of course he can do it because it is his choice. But that's also not very appropriate. There is no harm and being better dressed than others, I encourage that. But my view is that the ppl I am mixing with should not feel uneasy just because I am dressed too well. It's fine if you disagree, I don't need our opinions to match.

Suits are 90% dead in San Framcisco. Only hotel security and concierge wear ill fitting suits and maybe a few local branch bankers. In my experience traveling I noticed that the suit commands respect and power in the 3rd world where they can barely even afford clothes. Add a little bling and prepare to be trated like daddy prince. Tech industry has turned the bay into pretentious pajama wearing cattle atuck in a comfort bubble. A Patagonia vest with khakis is considered over the top formal and can mistake a techie slave as a VC and thats a no no. The beauty of it all is that i can walk into Harry Winston or Graff dressed like crap and pass security and be treated like a king but only in San Francisco. I can never pull that off in mexico city 😂
