I just got the new Model S last week and I found the optical parking sensors work much better than the ultrasonic ones on my 2022 model S. I was constantly hitting the front spoiler on curbs because sensors would say you had 18 inches and then suddenly jump to 24 inches as it looked over the curb. Ehen the optical says to stop, I know to stop. Pretty accurate.

When we first got our model 7 seater Y, it felt so much bigger than our 3. We traded in our 3 for a X Plaid and it feels so much bigger than the Y. The best thing about the X is the falcon wing doors - so much easier to get the kiddo in. Additionally, accessing the 3rd row is so much easier. Putting up/down the seat to climbing in is a lot harder with the Y compared to the X. Agree with the roof rack - we always take a cargo box and hitch on our Y b/c we bring so much stuff (inflatable paddle boards, inflatable boat,etc) on our mini trips. Overall they’re both great cars - the Y steering feels a long more fun(smaller steering wheel) but the X Plaid acceleration just doesn’t stop - definitely noticeable when merging into the highway.
@DirtyTesla Жыл бұрын
Yeah I miss the falcon wing doors more than I thought I would... getting in and out of the Y for the kids is more clumsy and cramped. But of course it's a much lower cost vehicle!

Zero ventilation for third row passengers. We bought a sub $50 12-volt fan to plug into the rear 12-volt outlet and the suction cup to the underside of rear trunk lid glass and it works well, but had to cut a slit in the rear glass shade fabric sun shade to get it all working. It works, but it would be better if there was just one air vent per side for third row passengers.

Oh my goodness, where do I begin. I bought my first Tesla in 2018, and I still have it. 105,000 miles on it and it still drives and feels like a dream. I will have to go outside and check and see if there is no paint on the inside door :-). I got FSD and paid $3000 for it. All my friends thought I was crazy :-) A couple of years later I bought my 2020 model Y. I loved that car, but when Elon Musk offered to allow me to transfer FSD to a new 2023 model Y, I jumped at the chance. So, I have the exact same car as you, same color, same everything , except for the seven seats. And, of course, I am checking the progress of FSD (now worth $12,000 and transferable) and I believe I just got the same version as you. And I’m having identical results. Since I live in the state of Maine, and my driveway consists of a half-mile of dirt road, my car looks exactly like yours :-) I am not having the same problem using the vision to park the car, I am not missing the lack of the sensors. I do think the car rides much better, much smoother and seems to be quieter as well. But there is no question that it is not as much fun to drive as my bright red 2018 model 3. It is a perfectly adequate, perfectly logical, high value for the money, #bestz in class long road trip type car. Since we have exactly the same type of car, I am certainly looking forward to your next video.

The back row on your 7 seat Model Y is similar to the 3rd row in our Mazda 5, which has sliding doors and a little more headroom. The Mazda has less space in the cargo area with the 3rd row flipped up tho. I'd love to see a Model Y microvan with sliding doors. I could open one side and move 1 seat forward and buckle both kids into 5 point harnesses in the 3rd row by kneeling on the floor. It's hard to beat a "full size minivan" like the old Town & Country. Or the big old (pre-Sprinter) high-top conversion vans. Props to Hoovie for showing you can tow with one.

Have a rattle in my passenger seat belt bottom brand new 2023 Model Y Performance, if the seat belt is attached then the rattle stops. Don't even get me started on the smart summon with ultrasonic sensors. I had not even had my 2022 Model S plaid for 2 months when I was using smart summon to get it out of the garage. It actually blew out the front inverter and the emergency squib under the dash that kills the high voltage in a crash. took over a month to get it repaired. If she loves it and uses it all the time, then buy it after trying it out...its that simple.
