I got my T300RS near launch and I agree with almost every point raised other than about the T3PA pedals in the GT ed. Yeah the stock 2 pedal set is garbage, but the T3PA's were far, FAR better, the conical brake gives you so much more confidence on the brakes as you have a physical resistance at the end of brake travel, when set correctly (i.e. when just touching the cone = 80% of full braking force) you can FEEL where the lock up point is instead of just guessing by foot/ankle position alone. Yeah they're practically identical to the G series pedals but that mod alone makes them night and day better, (speak from experience here, DFGT-G27-T300 and beyond). Is it worth $400US though(or £380 in the UK)?? Not anymore imo.. ESPECIALLY not with the 2 pedal set. The biggest plus of the T300 is it's almost double the power of the G series wheels, anyone who owns a T300 with the 2 pedal set and is thinking of upgrading their setup should seriously look at the T-LCM loadcell pedals before anything else, why? I went from T3PA's to a set of V3's from Fanatec and the difference was STAGGERING! Yeah I loved the T3PA's for the 3-4 years I had them but within 2-3 days of getting the V3's I was managing trail braking far easier than with the T3PA's. On top of this the inherent design flaws of BOTH Logitech and TM's basic pedal sets is the risk of dust/dirt and foreign objects fouling up the mechanism leading to pedal flutter and a need of strip and clean them out every 6-9 months. Both T-LCM's and the Fanatec Loadcell pedals all use Hall Effect sensors instead of Potentiometers linked to the pedal with geared mechanisms, magnetic field sensors with no moving parts so they don't wear out like Pots do and there's no mechanism to get gummed up. The BIG plus of both options is they can be used via USB to PC rather than plugged into the wheelbase meaning they CAN be used should you upgrade your wheelbase (sorry console owners but you don't have this option sadly). IF I were buying today I'd DEFINATELY still consider the T300 but I'd do the same you did get the base alone and choose the T-LCM's and rim I want. Logitech wouldn't even get a look in, Why? because they're STILL selling 14-15 year old innards without making significant changes since the G27 adopted helical gears, other than that the G series has been unchanged ever since, all the G series wheels since than are identical internally yet the pricing goes back to the previous models launch price or even higher. I only recently upgraded to a CSL DD and given the price difference for the wheelbase and McLaren rim vs a brand new T300RS GTE (I paid £640 for the Fanatec vs £380 for the RS GTE) then imo look for a 2nd had T300 before you even think about a new one, if you WANT new then save them pennies up and forget the T300 or even the TS-PC OR TGT II. I play AMS 2 (A LOT LOL) and even with the T300 and T3PA's I was able to hold my own vs guys with full direct drive rigs e.g. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYHJZ4Fpl9h_oZY Myself vs the 3rd fastest guy round Nordschleiffe and he's got a CSL or CSW + V3 pedal set, motion rig and plays in VR, he also posted the same race on his channel kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2O9o2audrOgl5o So you don't NEED all the bells and whistles to be competitive, I KNOW one of the fastest guys in AMS 2 is rocking a TMX with the V3's from Fanatec and he held over 200 records in AMS 2. At the end of the day you need to balance cost vs playtime and work out "Is it worth the cost?", if you play 1000's of hours in racing games then go Fanatec CSL DD. If you are a casual gamer? Then look for a 2nd hand T300 base + rim and get a new set of T-LCM's, (it'll work out about the same price as a T300RS GTE). Avoid Logitech at all costs and you'll avoid "Buyers remorse" 2-3 months down the line...

@@SimRacingVeteran Sorry but I have to disagree it's far far from a shit product. with my T300RS I've held several world records in AMS 2, plus several other games where I was regularly in the top 10-20 in the world, hell, on my old DFGT I was 2nd in the ESL 1 vs 1 drift ladder in the original Race Driver Grid till codies killed off the MP servers with no warning. I've also had races where I've beaten some of the fastest drivers on the planet. At the end of the day it's NOT the equipment that makes you fast... It's the individuals skill and familiarity with whatever they are using. Hell I'm part of an AMS 2 Time Trial community on Discord and 2-3 months ago our series champion was a guy on a controller! Over the year we've been running I'm the highest scoring player in our little group, having won outright 5 times on a T300RS. Many of our members have full DD setups like Podium DD1 and DD2's. So yeah the T300RS ISN'T the best wheel out there by ANY stretch of the imagination but it's "good enough" to go toe to toe with some of the best out there. As I mentioned above the guy recognised as the fastest in the game (And an Esports champion) uses a TMX with V3 pedals and is practically untouchable...

@Mike direct drive is definitely better, and I would say Thrustmaster is better than Logitech. However, Fanatec already have a cheap direct drive wheel base available, but you would have to spend more than $700 most likely to get the base, a wheel rim and pedal set. If you’re not 100% sure that you’re going to enjoy the wheel and use it a lot then I’d go for Thrustmaster or Logitech. Glad to see this. Bro I’ve had two g29s. The first one broke over the course of five months. The second took 24 hours. There’s a plastic connector attaching the rim to the base and when it gives, you loose a good chunk of force feedback in wheel wobble. The t300 is WAAAYYYY better, but still flawed. There’s a random button pressing issue that some get and some don’t. Mine store but I bought it used and got six months with no complaints. Even when it did, there are adaptors you can get to use a normal rim for an actual car. They however suffer from that same wobble as the g29 with said adaptor so you may have to mod the connection with glue or appoxy to stop it wobbling front to back. If you can, start at a ts-xw or a csl dd. The fact is you try this and like it your going to buy the upgraded stuff out our pursuit of feel and feedback. Just save for the purchase the first time or you’ll be making the same one after buying $500 in g29 rim and shifter and handbrake. That’s a csl right there.

Ok so I bought the Logitech g 923 and the shifter. The very next day I decided I’ll go for the thrustmaster instead because I really wanted the better shifter so I paid 250 on Amazon for the th8a ( only way to get it quick was to pay the premium) and I got the t248. I’ll say they were both solid wheels and I actually miss the extra force effects from the true force in the Logitech wheel but the thrustmaster is a clear upgrade to me when it comes to the fbb and especially this amazing shifter that mind you can swap the shift knob with real universal shift knobs for cars. Now my complaint is the wheel itself feels kinda small on the t248 (same size as 923) and considering I originally wanted the t300 gt but it’s impossible to find at a good price but finally I just caved. I got the t300 rs and the T-LCM pedals which will compliment the T8HA. After watching this video and several other even though the t300 is older it’s still the better wheel.

I purchased the t300rs gt edition and was able to find a kit with a shifter as well I’ve had it for 4 years have made multiple additions to so and love it I’ve used the Logitech and compared to that the thrustmaster is by far the better wheel in my opinion one of the best bang for your buck to enter sim racing

I also do agree with the desk clamp just bolt it waste of time

I have had the t150 for a very long time now about 2 years. it has done me well but i dont like the cheap pedals that come with it. I can drift with that wheel in forza and asseto corsa, but since it has no clutch, i cant use the thrustmaster H shifter with it. Thanks for making this video and i think i will get a T300 RS GT since it will be a big step up and will last me for years to come
@pawelkusmierek1092 жыл бұрын
A TX user here. You missed two points. TX, even though technically identical to T300, offers 900 degrees of rotation not 1080. While the screw hole for the clamp is directly connected to the wheel's internal rigid structure, the two bolt holes are not. Inside each of these holes there is a tiny metal plate which has no direct connection to the internal structure, only via the external case. Which is plastic and not very rigid. Thus, for rig mounting I recommend using both the two bolts (to prevent sliding) AND the clamp for rigidity.

You do not need to remove the screw to complete the quick release. You only need to unscrew it until you can start rotating the locking mechanism (called ring in the user manual), making the steps way easier than what you are complaining here...
@OCRacing2 жыл бұрын
Doesn’t change the fact that you still need to go out of your way to find a screwdriver and retighten/loosen every time…
@NaturebyGus2 жыл бұрын
@@OCRacing Wow. How difficult is that? Sorry I guess you can get a hernia for so much time and effort :)
@OCRacing2 жыл бұрын
@@NaturebyGus like I said, a real “quick release”, like the one shown in the video, doesn’t take more than mere seconds and sure doesn’t require a screwdriver. So, yes… certainly still a downside of this wheel (and all TM wheels with it) albeit maybe not as dramatic as I made it seem

I’m actually thinking of upgrading to a T300, I’m currently using a T150 which I modded myself. I want to use other wheels so I 3D printed an adaptor and then bought a regular sized car steering wheel and 3D printed a GT/F1 wheel. But in exchange of that, I lost all the original buttons. I did not know that there’s a ‘wheelbase only’ version of the T300, since the base model available in our country is the T300 RS GT version. I might order from amazon and ship it all the way here, since I’m heavily considering it now after watching your video. Thanks!

I've watched your video and bought the wheel. After 10 minutes of playing on 80% FFB the FFB was weak (overheating issues). If I played on 50% I could play like an hour before weak FFB was happening. FFB 40 % was reasonable, no FFB loss. So, if you dont like stronger FFB you could buy t300rs and be happy. Otherwise this wheel don't meet your expectations. I'd say, it is not worth it. Yes, 4 nm of FFB max? But playable is about 50% of that, so you can go direct to logitech g29 and be sure, that no overheating issues appear. The force will be the same. And The price is half of t300. Both wheels are entry level.
@IJFJJAJI2 жыл бұрын
you can change the fan mode on the t300 to always on and that way it won't overheat.

I haven't had a wheel since my ps3 days, I decided to get the t150 pro basically for the pedals, picked up last year from Amazon on a flash sale for $240.00 with the intent on upgrading to a t300 base at a later time.
@mrmidnight322 жыл бұрын
I really don't think that $200 to $300 price range is fair. I just paid $470 for mine after tax and am fully happy. Because the "other slightly more expensive" combos you listed come in at $700 to $900 when said and done. Twice the price unless used isn't in the same category. For the GT combo under $500 thats the best youre ganna get. Unless you have at least $700 to spend in 2022.

Hello I think it’s worth it if you play on pc. It had a recent firmware update 34 which gives you the option of a boost mode which for me felt like double the force feedback on acc and ams2. But you can’t enable it on console which is a real shame.
@alessiobaruzzo16792 жыл бұрын
Old comment, but i need to say: boost option is useless, gives you more resistence, but it's terrible in terms of actual feedback. Maybe can be fun on trucks simulators, not in car simulators.

I’ve been trying to get the T300 for a year and while I can technically get it, paying $200-$300 usd extra doesn’t sit well with me. I’ve debated buying the base and T3PA pedals and shifter separately. It’s fairly cheaper at the moment but like you said we’d be lucky to find them at that price

@@OCRacing I’m definitely taking your advice and looking for a step up since at the moment it is just a small price increase. Yes at the end of the day it is still a decent amount more but if you’re already overpaying for the t300 might as well pay extra for something that blows it out of the water

2.5 years ago I had this dilemma, T300RS for £200 or G920 with pedals, shifter and then new F1 2019 for £180 Decided that I prefer build quality and value of G920 rather than superior FFB of T300's. I have actually sold that game for £35 making my G920 less than £150 - again with pedals and a shifter.
@OCRacing3 жыл бұрын
Are you still using the G920? How's it holding up?
@EvilijoUK3 жыл бұрын
@@OCRacing It's still going strong. The build quality is second to none, the wheel and pedals look like new after 100s of hours of use. After about a year it developed some squeak when turning right, but that went away after another 2 months of use. FFB is not very quick or strong, I think it works a lot better in tarmac racing like F1 / GT3 etc. For rally enthusiast it's still usable, just don't expect miracles, those motors are simply not powerful or responsive enough for something like Dirt Rally (still better than controller imho) The best part about it is value, I could still sell this wheel with pedals and shifter for as much as I bought it when new.

Depends on where you are in the world. Most of us can’t buy Fanatec gear at regular prices. So yeah, Thrustmaster is the only choice. Fanatec is at least twice as expensive, at least. Sometimes more.
@TOMMYBOY69692 жыл бұрын
I had a Logitech G25, then switch to a Thrustmaster T150, then the last 2 years to a T300. The T300 at around 350$ is the best at this price. Dying to upgrade to the Fanatec DD Pro, but the price jump at around 700 + shipping, customs fees etc. is just too much for my budget. In my opinion, the T300 is a little better than Logitech equivalent but still relevant and good for 2022.

I own a TX, a TSXW, a DD Pro and a Simucube 2. The TX is just as good as any of them, although the TSXW is my favorite. I know, it sounds crazy but TBH DD wheels are kind of a PITA to dial in properly and don’t deliver a fundamentally better experience. I was an amateur driver in SCCA D-production for several years, if that matters.
@MiguelCatalaoMusic2 жыл бұрын
Even with the new pricing on the last 2-3 months where everything got more expensive, I question how can you racionalise the T300RS (310 eur) or the T300RS GT (360 Eur) against the CSL DD with pedals (799 eur) or the T-GT with pedals. We're talking premium prie with the fanatech's (700 to 1000 eur depending the pedals and dd torque level you choose) or at least 650 eur for the t-GTII or the TS-XW. NONE of those alternatives is near the 360 eur of a T300RS GT. That being said, if i knew today, i'd get the T300RS with the crappy pedals and update later to the load cell version.

Personally I had nothing but problems with it. I had two and they both had terrible squeeky pedals. Also as soon as I put the F1 2011 style rim on it the wheel wouldn´t calibrate corrctly anymore and I had to do it by hand. Also I didn´t like the feel of the rubber on either of the two rims I had. The leather on the G29 feels just much nicer and I didn´t have any problems with the Logitech for 6 years now. And I used to use it A LOT in that period of time.
