As much as people focus on wheels, there are so many options for pedals with such varying levels of mechanisms that i would be interested in seeing you try to rank some of those as well
@DJYeeJay2 ай бұрын
Honestly my opinion of pedals is Haptic pedals >>> Load Cell >>> Potentiometer pedals, the differences between brand are a bit arbitrary to me. Would love to try higher end pedals than V3s to see that difference though

I noticed a lot of pedals don't come with a clutch. How are people racing without a clutch? Is there a hand clutch like in F1?
@marlonwool1060Ай бұрын
@@biggiebagel Most games have an automatic clutch in game that just stepps in when you ask for a different gear. If you dont have an H-Pattern shifter, you first of all probably don't even need a clutch pedal because odds are you're using the paddles on the wheel to shift and in that case it makes more sense to just have the in game clutch aid turned on. Most cars who need a manual clutch in real life (for gears other than first) don't tend to have paddles anyways so by using paddles for these cars it's already less realistic anyways.
@marlonwool1060Ай бұрын
When I refer to paddles btw I'm talking about the ones for gear shifting. The clutch paddles on a wheel are still pretty rare in real life save for F1 and only neccisary for immersion on the sim.
@biggiebagelАй бұрын
@@marlonwool1060 I am really looking for both I think. I am used to a clutch pedal in my car and would like a H-pattern shifter so I can practice my driving. @@DiariesOfABadDriver the iRacing sweatlords are real and many people are drawn in, so the logic is that it's the in-between point from formula rims and round rims, it's still a stupid choice given that it inconveniences mostly the people who want to do everything that requires a round wheel with no real advantage for the flat rim people. The one factor you did leave out was just overall durability. The G29 is dated technologically, but as you can attest it's one you can use for many, many, many years without it breaking. Always nice to upgrade later based on your own timetable and finances as opposed to when your old wheel breaks. The belt driven wheels don't go as long and Fanatec and Moza are known to have a higher-than-desirable number of issues over time.

Nice list, the DFGT was my very first wheel too, back in 2017! Picked it up used for $80AUD (which is roughly $50US) because it was pretty much the cheapest force feedback available, and I mostly used it for Dirt Rally. While it certainly worked and was reliable, I ultimately wasn't very satisfied with it and I'm not sure I could recommend it, at least for rallying. Driving older, RWD cars at their authentic wheel rotations was nearly impossible because the maximum rotation speed was pretty slow. And of course it was noisy, the rim is pretty small and the brake pedal was awful (way too soft). Not all of these flaws might matter as much for either driving styles, though. Quite happy with the CSL DD that I have now, by comparison it may as well be alien technology.

Hello! Im a first time viewer, currently searching for my first sim-wheel. This video was pretty good in terms of information but i got some feedback on the video, not to be mean or anything. 1. Appearance 4/10 You are kind of leaning forward to the mic for some reason. Not so important but seems off when watching you. Maybe move the mic forward so you can sit more relaxed? Make yourself more appealing by for example open the first button on your shir or fixing your hair. The lighting isnt really on top so fixing that could be good too, same for the video quality 2. Audio 10/10 Honestly really good audio. You sound kinda like Andrew from the waveform podcast (really high quality podcast abt tech). 3. Information 8/10 I understand that a person cant buy every racing wheel there is, specially if you dont get them for free hah. Would be nice if you included the G293 since the most new sim setups i see contain it. Also maybe explain a bit of what Direct/Gear/Belt drive are (i googled after so ik by now). It might seem obvious what these things are but since you are reviewing newbie wheels, i would think there are quite some people out there who dont know such things. Since you bring up the pedals a bit, can you use different wheels with different pedals and how does that work? A big plus is that you keep things short but still include about everything you need to know abt each wheel. Im sorry if i in ANY way offended you. Ofc you dont need to these things, just sharing my toughts :)

Agree on the appearance. My camera setup is something I’m gonna work a lot more on throughout the year. The camera is just a Logitech streamcam which I’m gonna upgrade eventually. The reason im leaning forward so much is because that’s about how far the mic reaches out, definitely need a longer stand, and for this video where im not just talking to the camera but interacting with the screen, i definitely hunch forward more. Interesting side note though my belief with KZbin is audio quality >>> video quality for the most part (obviously would be best to have both) so I’m glad you liked the audio

I got my PXN V10 for $220 and i think its pretty great, adjustable force feedback and you get paddle and a stick shift and a clutch witch most wheels dont include

My first wheel was a g920, but that broke, and since it was out of warranty the best I could get from Logitech was a discount on a new one. So I got a brand new g923 for less than what a referbished one would've cost. With trueforce I definitely recommend it for anyone who cares about the sensatation of driving more than being competitive.

Never let bro rate again🔥🔥🔥 when you were talking about g29(gear driven): "I could really feel the gears and it wasn't smooth." vs g923(same thing as g29 but it has new software): "This wheel is belt driven and when I used it I could really tell the difference because it was just so much smoother than the g29."
@TheRealEvilSink26 күн бұрын
Moza R5 can be had for cheaper on the used market if you take some time to look for it. It is hands down the best "cheap" wheel. If you cannot get R5, get a G27/G29/G920 or a thrustmaster t300/t500, and start saving up for a Moza R5. Any other belt or gear driven wheel is not worth the price, unless you can get it for pretty much the same as a G29. Pedals on the other hand, is the most important upgrade you will ever do. T-LCM will do the job, but i find myself wanting more range to modulate the brake more easily. When trailbraking, it can be hard on the T-LCM, but way better then what any stock pedals will ever do. Absolute minimum you want to be competitive, is Load cell. No need to go for over 100kg loadcell, most road cars do not have brakes that need a pedal pressure of over 70 - 90kg to fully lock up the brake system.
@TBolt1Ай бұрын
I guess what matters first is what sort of racing you do. Oval: any wheel can work well. Road: from personal experience, if you mostly do Road racing, just buy the best direct drive base you can afford. The car control with a direct drive base is instantly obvious.

Have you had the chance to use any Simagic stuff? I was deciding between the R5 or Alpha Mini setup and went the Simagic route. What tipped you towards Moza?
@DJYeeJay2 ай бұрын
I have not but would love to one day, with Moza the FFB was just smoother than everything else I have tried in the price range, and I don't use a lot of FFB strength by default already so I have no real need to go up
@kmsthanks2 ай бұрын
Depends on your budget but the alpha mini is twice as strong and the FFB is more detailed. Overall though the simagic ecosystem is a lot more expensive leaning towards mid to high end. From what I've gathered equivalent moza to simagic bases, the moza ones are more muted and feel like cars with power steering while the simagic ones feel slightly more detailed and raw. Just preference and budget really

Got my hands on the Turtlebeach and the Cammus. I am keeping the Turtlebeach but only I because I got it at a open box discount for $316 at Best Buy. At the current price of $400 it is compelling as a bundle but the Cammus wheel alone for $250 and the new simagic budget load cell pedal set for $200 more would be the more sensible option. You make a good point about the Turtlebeach being made for people who don't want to upgrade further. I think that's a bigger market than the enthusiast market so I can see why Turtlebeach made this decision. The trick is finding how much more people are willing to pay for this upgrade from the Logitech G923. I'm curious to see their sales figures since reducing their price to $400.

The Driving Force GT was such a step up from using gyro on Playstation controllers. Immediately reduced almost 30 seconds off of my laps because I could finally feel the car and catch it when I could. Now I'm rocking the T300RS with a PXN A7 shifter, I sold the Driving Force off to my friend who also sim races. My only gripe with these Logi wheels so far was the noise is makes due to the gears as well as it's torque output, hence why I opted for the T300RS thus saving up a bit more. The G923 was tempting due to the leather feel, but I'd rather feel my car's tyres and the grip it has rather than the wheel material. Cheers though, definitely stay away from the bungee wheels 👌🙏

You should revisit the G923. Try it with a 28to 30V power supply, with at least 3A. The 923 was upgraded with higher voltage internals. But they didn't upgraded the power supply. It's a noticeable difference in strength and fidelity.

As a owner of T248 I'd say this, it has the strongest FFB on the market in comparison to other belt driven wheels "it's a hybrid" IT'S WAY BETTER then G920 trust me, shifters are vert nice (loud as f tho) but if you don't mind it it's great entry wheel which can provide much more details then g920 :)

Not sure why you initially put the G923 as "don't recommend", I'd seriously recommend the G923 on sale or used, it is better than the G920, brakes and FFB are better at a similar price. Not all of us can afford DD or belt wheels, so the G923 is awesome on a budget. Logitech are extensively tested and last. Even my old Logitech Momo racing force lasted almost 20 years.
@paleopashaАй бұрын
I bought an open box moza R3 bundle for the same price people were wanting for the 923 on marketplace. I actually think he has a real point here, because it’s too new to be discounted really deeply on used sites which is what you’d want if you’re going cheap for a gear driven wheel. Also the t300 is better than the 923 around the same price or cheaper used. I saw many better deals on the TX/T300 on fb than I did for the 923. So either get that, cheap DD or a g920 for like $90. G923 is in a bad price bracket for its features.

@@ErikForeman That's not a bad deal. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I just saw a decent number of used T300s around that price and I do think that's the better wheel. And I found my R3 bundle for $240 and for me it was well worth it to stretch a little bit for that. Ultimately all are pretty cheap these days and it's probably never been a better time to buy any of them (when used market is included). All are decent, and capable of providing a lot of enjoyment for the cost. I do still stand by the statement that for most people they should try and find a T300 instead of a g923 if they are comparable prices.

I know the hole, "dont buy the cheap option, just go stright to the expensive version", is super annoying, but tbh uts true. I have done that sooo many times, bought the cheap version of whatever thinking people are beeing posh.. but i almost always end up reselling it because its not good enough. Now un this case i couldnt say. I own a g920 and i like if for what i do. But completly understand the wait a bit to buy logic. Its almost always true

Ngl this made me revisit pricing since when I bought my G29 last year it was on-sale for the 10usd more than a T150 so I just went for that. Price availability is a huge issue. I'd say its better to just outright go 200usd being the pricecap for anything that isnt direct drive. with 150usd being the best bang for buck be it either on-sale or used. One other thing is I feel pedals do play a huge role considering you'll be stuck with them while you save up. While none of them are good out of the box, some of them are easier to mod into being decent.

Logitech Driving Force GT - Absolutely not recommended nowadays, especially if you have Windows 11 (drivers issue, without any solution except buy another wheel). And if you want to stick to the official reports, neither with Windows 10. So... this wheel is no go unless you want spend time with tweaking and persuading Windows to work with (obsolete) drivers. This was the reason why I had to replace it with another wheel.

13:30 I agree on the point of getting cheapest you can get if you cannot get direct drive BUT.... T150 is absolutely carbage and I assume that same goes to T248 because of the same gear + belt system. I would take Driving Force GT over T150 at same price every time. Heck I wold even take PS2 era Driving Force with 180 degrees of rotation over T150. T150 is okay until you try to catch an oversteer. The wheel just does not wanna turn and makes an amazingly horrendus sound when you are fighting the motor (and you can overpower it, because it is so week and the belt likely also slips at the same time...). It might be worse than some rubber band resisted non force feedback wheels. It must be basicly free to me to recomend it to anyone
