Coming back to OSRS after a two year break and sad to see this. I thought it was a fair weapon because it always cost quite a bit to use. Plus it was an affordable way for mid level players to get into high tier content. A $4M weapon that can be on par with $40M-1B weapons was nice. I wish they kept accuracy the same but maybe implemented the damage nerf?

@@rambow70 Yeah I was amazed at how different the prices were since I last played. DHCB is like 60m now and I wanna say it was like half that before lol. So I just stuck with the TBP. Tbh it wasn't too bad for the one task I did real fast while I was home earlier. It was only on wyrms.. But my accuracy seemed decent with 87 range and full void. I was hitting 18 max hits but there was a few times where I was like "wtf, hit" 😂 I still think for mid level slayer and stuff it is better/faster than say a crossbow. But it does hit a lot less than before

Hydra has low Def so the nerf doesn't affect as much as the damage isn't that different because the darts strength was increased. Against Bandos, for example it is useless. For Jad also I believe its not the best anymore.

If it was priced between 30-60m it would be reasonable, but it’s quickly approaching 200m and most likely will rise even higher in price. That doesn’t make it an alternative to the acb. It makes it an alternative to the twisted bow. Ultimately there is a void left in ranged weaponry now that the nerf has happened. They need to update crossbows, whether that’s increasing their accuracy some more or increasing their speed a bit.

Yes, it gets close to the tbow (and rarely even outdpses) the tbow in some situations, but the blowpipe is still way better at lower monsters, in practice the blowpipe is still great for non-boss monsters. It's a good addition to the ranged meta, you have the blowpipe for minions and lower defence targets, especially with amethyst darts right now. Crossbows for straight accuracy, bow for even more BUT giving up the shield slot and specials (Although the range is the ACB on long range, which helps a bit with Zuk for example) And the Tbow for higher magic defence targets (and a lot of other things because it's one of the strongest items in the game) This creates more variation with gear progression and choices based on what you're killing (like melee) So I'm a fan.

I’ve been camping Vorkath in budget gear, using a dragon (not hunter) crossbow or a blowpipe (amethyst) in blessed dhide. My pb is with blowpipe and some really good BGS specs, even without the spec I get about the same kill speed. All things being equal I prefer the crossbow because I take less damage and prefer the slower attack speed.

The nerf was a bad idea, for 1 reason, it didnt need to happen, jagex didnt need to make an unpolled nerf that only hurts the player base, they really cant afford to lose the players they just pissed off, just like rs3 jagex made wild rash changes in the name of helping but all they did was kill their own game and didnt give 1 f, they nerf blowpipe which was used by 100% of players who dont have 1b for a tbow for really no reason, they economy is in shambles from botting and gold farming, bots with 200m xp all over youtube videos, bots spamming and scamming ge in every single world, were losing player count and gaining bots and gold farmers so heavily the counts actually staying the same, even though jagex said they ban 30k bots a day.... that's literally 50% of the player count on a given day if they did that all at one time.... theres much bigger problems and issues and I think it's a horrible idea to nerf items, instead of good fun updates besides the fishing boss all we have gotten is nerfs, jagex is running off the player base anyway they can, they did the same thing to rs3, kept changing things "for the betterment of the game and players" even though the majority of players didnt want or like the changes, I can understand 1 or 2 changes a year with good explanation, but we got sooo many, and yet so many issues mainly economy tanking, by bots and gold farmers who also clogg up high lvl money makers for regular players.... nerf was and always will be a terrible idea, we have set a bad trend of nerfing items to add a much needed tier. Take melee for example, u go from steel scimitar or whatever lvl 1 is, all the way to a whip around 70 in ur combat stats and u could spend 2.2m, then to get 1 level higher ur gonna need 100m, 150m or even 500m, all those prices are for basically the same dps. The rapier, saeldor, and nightmare mace I forget name of. Point being the tiers are kinda messed up because jagex is so worried about power creep that they refuse to add any new powerful weapons to the game, for maxed players like myself it becomes and issue, u get bored theres no new raids added or new content for end game which a huge majority of players are doing, theres alot to complain about honestly but I love the game I hope it does well I just see the direction jagex took with rs3 and it just feels like were falling into the same hole again. Jagex is going to get forced into a corner and make rash wild changes like this and kill off the player base.

Welles recently we got raids 3 announced, that will help but not in the way jagex thinks, u even if 80% of the player base is max level or close to u cant curtail to them because they're already playing the game eventually they'll get bored or leave for one reason or other, were bringing in no new players, raids 3 is good for only 1 reason (and it didnt even happen) new bis gear gives a little power creep, and thus raises the ladder tier, where before tbow or saeldor were bis, if they add a new tier it gives max players new items to go for, it gives nearly max to mid players cheaper items like tbow, that's how u keep a game fresh, but so far last 5 or 6 years it's been just a tbow grind..... alot of players would hate a new bis range or melee but u have to doit to keep new players happy, and mid lvl players, the player base is wayyyyyy off,( instead of 20 being max and 40% being mid, and 20 to 40% being new) we have literally less then 1% new players who voted they been new for 1 month, 90% of players voted they're years into the game, according to recent polls they did during summer summit, that's how u know ur game is dying, as soon as u stop bringing in new players to replace ones who stop playing(even if no one ever truly quits, news flash they do, but even players on a break count as quiting or not playing or providing profit for jagex) anyways alot to complain about and I truly think it's too late. I think the game has a good 3 or 4 years left coasting on the player count it has, the last year or 2 will be no updates, but jagex is massively inflating the player count with bots and gold farmers numbers according to their own stats, so it's no wonder they cant bot nuke or ban them all they'd lose 50% of the player count and that would cause a huge panic and a huge lose of players also

BP strength and accuracy reduced by 50%. If this is not shitty enough, all darts are now +0 accuracy, so you're basically hitting the same hit/miss rate if you're using addy or dragon darts. I would say rune darts post-nerf is similar to addy pre-nerf, but now it cost twice or thrice as much for darts.

I manually updated my dps calculator, just plugged in the new values into the items tab and was able to see for General Graardor the dps trades blows with max melee at least for the gear i selected. For the range setup i selected Full Arma w/ Drag Darts. For melee i selected typical max melee gear with Rapier, dragon defender & fire cape. Blowpipe came in at max dps of 4.452, and Max Melee Came at a max dps of 4.391. (With Potions and Rigour / Piety Enabled). Edit: if you upgrade melee with avernic/infernal you'll out dps blowpipe.

This nerf was stupid and the fact that they released an item that is just as strong as the Blowpipe at a fraction of the long term cost basically just nullified any benefit the Blowpipe nerf had. Bowfa is now firmly the second best option and it costs less than 140m with no upkeep cost, it's actually almost as good as a T Bow at a fraction of the long term cost of a Blowpipe, they've basically just replaced the problem with another problem. I mean Blowpipe use to be broken but now it can be out DPSed by a dark bow using Rune Arrows. It went from being meta to dead content. And they still have the same issue as before, with the best option and the second best option being really close together in DPS but the second best option costing a fraction of the cost of the best, in fact the problem is now even worse than before.

Mystics bofa is bis, then blowpipe for solo, duo or up acb and tbow overtake blowpipe. For shamans blowpipe > bofa > acb > tbow untill eventually tbow becomes best in slot in larger scales due to magic lvls increasing (bofa and acb will overtake bp at some point too). At rope rangers use blowpipe unless again you get into cm or bigger scales

i mean it might not be as good at jad anymore, but imo with 92 range, on task with either mask (i) or slayer helm (i) range pots and rigour and amethyst darts, i ripped through jad, also using budget gear as well. I didnt notice Much Of A Difference While Fighting Them, Maybe A Couple Of Sec Longer, But I Would Say If you Had 99 Ranging, With A Similar Set Up You might Be Able To Still Rip Through The 360s, And Jad With Addy Darts.

As he said I used the bp for the waves and used a cbow/book of law for jad/healers mainly bc bp did me dirty with it’s shorter range getting me melee’d by jad. Take your time, 1 action per switch, aggro the healers (not kill) and focus your prayer. He doesn’t have too much hp so don’t even bother with it he’ll die pretty quick if you get the healers aggro.

It's still viable at most bosses with amethyst and higher darts. I still average sub 2 minute kills like 80- 90% of the time at zulrah with it, granted I am maxed stats using imbued heart, full ancestral, full armadyl, assembler, and sang staff. Pretty much max gear besides the twisted bow. All this update really did was make it so you practically couldn't really efficiently do high end bosses without being at a high level and with good gear, which makes sense. Too many gold farmers qnd bots at zulrah and zulrah was accessible way too early.

The most of the players cant efford the Items and the 30% of the Players are Ironman! so they dont even have DWH or high gear armour! I've tested the Blowpipe in cox and other bosses. But im midlvl Ironman, no big Gear and no Rigour. The Blowpipe sucks as FUCK! even the MSBI is better!!! Bosses have range too. When you solo bosses it makes a big difference as you have to tank and deal dmg because you don't have anyone to tank for you. You can not safespot bosses.
