This is a load of rubbish. Just purchased this piece and im blown away by the fit, the dial and the colourway. This is a one a done. Got rid of all my rolex pieces as ticks all the boxes imo from diving 200 metres, ant magnetic metas certified.this channel never mentioned that so i thinking hell be running back to shop he returned it.. Honestly this piece is a one and done and ive finally found it. Dont get brain washed by all the channels online talking about gilt dial etc. Its absolutely stunning. See it in person. Try it. This blends a yactmaster rose gold dial with a gmt coke. Imo the gmt coke is brighter and more bland. This burgundy dial pops and perfectly executed. My advice get it quick before you cant!

@gongkia2000 I know pal. Strong statement. See it in person, wasn't a fan of any of their stuff before, especially when considering value retention. Check it out though. This is a piece for the future. The dial and colour combination are on the nail. Its a 126610 in a 39mm case without the cyclops and it has a ceramic ball bearing clasp. Making the dial smaller imo gives it a more refined look. Rolex maxi dial cases on the new models imo are too large, hour markers I mean and ceramic bezel is too blingly shiny and looks bland. Why had one, sold it, never looked back. Arguably this is rolexs version on the new sub 126610ln in a 39 case without cyclops, a glit dial, gmt function, diving 200metres water resistant and anti magnetic to 15,000 gauss. On paper it's a one stop shop and done, then I saw it, bought it and now realise this is a piece. Remove all the influencing on line, where everyone has the same script, regurgitating it out like sheep...bah bah! go in try it on! Over and out.

I think your introspection about your watch desires/needs is a learned approach to watch collecting and may come with age. I'm 59 1/2 and have recently found that my initial enthusiasm about a watch is tempered when I consider the niche it fills in my small collection. The other thing that I often consider is how much wear time it will get. I love your JLC and I've been tempted many times to buy one myself - and I still may - but I don't know how much wrist time it will get compared to my Speedy, SMP 300 or even my Ball Engineer III Legend II. Anyway, good video. I liked your journey of thought.

How does this "not offer anything above" the GS GMT? - A rotating two tone GMT bezel to track a 3rd time zone - A METAS certified automatic mvmt, vs a ticking quartz mvmt (not even spring drive). THIS cheapens the collection way more IMO - Enough lime to actually read the correct time in the dark instead of an approximation - A comfortable, solid bracelet with fantastic T-Fit micro adjustment - Decent residual value Seems like an absolute no brainer to keep the BB58 GMT and ditch the GS, but ymmv. I tried the BB 58 GMT 2 months ago and I prefer the original. Fits better on my big wrist and I prefer the silver on hands and markers and the red on GMT hand. Great video, I really appreciate your frank thoughts and advice, regarding the GMT. I recently purchased the original BB58 with the red triangle that you featured, with the brown leather strap. It won me over instantly. I heavily considered the GMT, but the red really wasn’t working for me. I hadn’t thought about the glossiness of the bezel, good point. Perhaps if the red was substituted by black, or maybe even that bronze/gold color, I would have liked it more. Your observation regarding the smaller crown helped confirm that I made the right decision. Thank you again and all the best to you and your family!

I know what you mean - the same thing happened to me with an Oris and a Longines. If it doesn't fit in your lineup then it's better to part with it. BB 58 GMT is an excellent watch (and would make a good candidate for a one or two watch collection), but if you have watches you actually prefer to wear which perform the same function then there's little point in having it. We are not going to live forever so it makes sense to get maximum enjoyment from our favourite possessions while we can.

I still believe the BB58 GMT is still one of the best Tudors in the catalog right now but seems like most of your reasons for returning the watch are more... personal. Completely understandable of course if a watch doesn't simply click or have no place in your current collection. Like for me, I could never get this watch because I already own a Pepsi so it would be too redundant to own two GMTs that have very similar colors.

At least you tried it Andy, you might have walked away and pondered the what if you didn't find one again. A great watch without doubt but sometimes we need to have a little time with a watch before we decide if it's a keeper or not. I have the 41 GMT for some years now and I think it's OK on my 7" wrist, it's thicker than the new 58 GMT but also a larger diameter so the proportions may not be too different. I guess aesthetically I prefer my 41 over the new one as the guilt bits over power it a tad compared to my old one. I certainly cannot justify both in my collection. If I didn't have my 41 I would certainly give it a try though.

If you're a young man or woman looking with a few grand saved up and wanting to get a new watch with a ton of features from a decent brand... Tudor is here for you. But if you are established with a large or growing collection of higher end brands, then it doesn't always work - it's too expensive to be a no-thought purchase (like a moonswatch or something might be).

Would you say that let’s say a vintage 25 year old Pepsi with holle centre and end links; an aluminium bezal and a more basic moment selling at £12,000 with no box and papers is an entry point to the luxury watch market. Or a rattling old Paul Newman Daytona at 50m. You’re chatting elitist nonsense

A $4,600 master chronometer with a traveler’s GMT complication is an “entry point”? Come off it now, a Hamilton Khaki Field is an entry point. The BB58 GMT could very well be the pinnacle of someone’s collection. Especially if that person had no interest in spending more than $5k on a watch.

I have now come to a point that I get easily bored with most new models that arrive, they are just a slight variation of something I know very well. What interests me now is generally vintage watches, great models which also has developed some kind of personality, all it patina, maybe an interesting story behind it, whatever. Also of course I am looking at more traditional brands like Breguet, JLC, Patek, Lange, but also older Speedmaster, Heuer from 60’s and 70’s, plus obscure watches from for example Zodiac, Perrelet etc. Still a vintage Rolex with the right vibes is always interesting! hmmm.. i kinda understand where you're coming from. You are at a point in your journey where the watches you would like to wear/collect are off a certain standard. So lets just use brands as an example. You are past the Longines, christopher ward, tudor, oris type and currently in the Omega, IWC, JLC phase. I myself have a 10 watch rule and i can only wear so many of my watches, so I'd like each watch that take a slot in my watch box to have a meaning and purpose. In that sense, I can understand your perspective. But.i do leave 2 slots to fun pieces (such as my studio underd0g watermelon and my Zerootime M1). I don't think its a good idea to be too rigid with your watch collection. Some exceptions can be made, because sometimes we might just love how a watch looks despite the brand equity. I think the Longines spirit zulutime 39 is one of the best watches out there right now. Amazing design and value, But from how you are describing your watch collecting journey, that piece is not going to be up for consideration for you. Which is fine but I think it can limit your choice alot going forward. Then again there are plenty of choices too in the JLCs, IWCs and Omegas. Love the video and always look forward to your videos.

Anyway, I took it back and bought a Grand Seiko Shunbun, which is a really nice watch, a keeper (for now, LOL). I also have the 6.75 inch left wrist and I'm tending towards 39mm's. Recent purchases are the Tag Glass Box Panda (39mm...great watch), and several IWCs (Mark XVI and Mark XX) along with a couple of Rolexes that were offered. But I'm changing the way I do things as well. I just have too many watches that are never worn. What a waste. Someone could be enjoying them and I could buy a Lange One or even something more interesting if I got rid of the extraneous ones. I'll continue to buy from the AD when they have something Rolex as I consider that a good habit. I've sold a few off over the years as they became old. Always made money unlike other brands. Anyway I have considered this watch that you returned and for some reason I'm shying away. I've been offered one and just did not respond (blast text so not discourteous of me). Hmm. Interesting. My BB 58 GMT and the BB 54 are by far my two most worn watches. In fact i don't plan on buying another watch for quite some time now that I have those two in my watch box. Too bad it didn't work for you.

The black bay 58 GMT didn’t offer anything above the GS quartz GMT?😂 right…

Having tried both watches on and owning one of them watches I don’t really think the difference is enormous. the sekio is as well finished as anything that Rolex make but the bracelet and clasp is not as good.

When it comes to fine imitation watches, MAMACOO delivers. I've bought from them several times, and I've never been let down.

Nothing wrong with that Tudor, but honestly, if one wanted a really nice GMT watch, they could do a lot worst than picking a second hand IWC 3251 UTC, which can be found for GBP 3k or less. It's also a lot less conspicuous than any of these Rolex GMT Master based designs, so you can actually wear it while traveling (or walking down the streets of London).

Playing with SEO, tags, etc to see if I can work the algorithm better. Clearly titles matter, and sadly click bait or shock titles seem to win.

Us collectors frequently over intellucualise the hobby during our journey through time. The problem being, for me anyway, is that the parameters are constantly evolving, hindering objectivity. As a resolution, I try and return to basics in that does the piece make you smile? I would have kept that watch. For me, it's exquisiteness at a very reasonable price. I respect your views however.....

It was 50:50, but it was the right thing to return it. I did like it in the shop, it just lost its lustre when I got it home. One of those things.

The other observation is that my first impression of this guy's personality is he doesn't seem to have an enthusiastic personality -- even while talking about why he "like" the watch.

As a broke boy and actual enthusiast who wants watch’s prices to crater, MAMACOO is a good choice.

Great content Andy. Tudor great value for money.

my problem with this watch is 1) the color combo 2) the bezel action feels like a diver bezel not gmt.

So buyers remorse then. Bit off returning it as you had second thoughts.

I fast forwarded to the reason you took the watch back because I was intrigued. I thought this is going to be a load of rubbish - I’m very surprised to say I have to agree with you. I now own this watch, but I did some weeks ago before I was bought the bb58 gmt try on the sekio Quartz GMT you have, if I had chosen to get the sekio I would not be interested in also owning the Tudor. if you like something you like it and you should go with that not something else because it’s popular. I don’t particularly care for the Rolex Daytona if I had to choose between that watch and the zenith equivalent I would take the Zenith all day long.

I also prefer the older crown, 12 o'clock triangle and 6 o'clock text

Each their own but I think the Tudor offers more/something diff to the GS GMT: Colour, guilt, rotating bezel plus a mechanical movement etc. Buying on a whim then returning is a rookie mistake for someone advising others on their ‘watch journey ‘ tbh. Ps. I do agree with you on text at bottom of dial though & same colour GMT hand. It’s a nice piece, sure, but not a buy.

Hi Andy, what a story. I would not know what my local watch supplier would say if I would take a watch back after 48 hrs. Does yours have some kind of return policy? I wonder where your ambitions are going up the scale. Time will tell. Cheers Udo

Everyone has criticized Rolex and Tudor for having too much dial text and you want more? I agree that it’s a little imbalanced, but we need a concise message

This was the watch I wanted forever. After having a 58’and wanting a gmt version, I went it to try it on expecting to walk out with it. What put me off? There is too much gold IMO.

I respect your decision, you'll always be right about your own collection but I can almost hear it your voice as you're comparing it to a quartz Seiko that you're regretting returning this GMT.

I’ve been offered this 3 times by the boutique at Gatwick but I want to see it in real life first. I think most people wanted the original Tudor Pepsi GMT in a 39mm rather than this gilt version 🤔
@Paul_F_C3 ай бұрын
I would one as they do look nice , but I want a Rolex GMT and I know I would look at the Tudor and just regret it every time I looked at it as it would delay my getting the watch I really want

Sound maye, go pay the 15k on the grey market for a Pepsi or a rootbeer cus you are not getting it at retail. Thats as low as they will go and at that price you are paying 40% over retail for thre pepso. Its a steel gmt with a load of marketing hype. I’d rather have this at £3000.

I like the Tudor watches in general, but two things really annoy me, well maybe three. The first is the jungle of models that is very similar but with small differences that I never get my head around to understand, with Rolex the differences between the models are much more logical and easier to recognise. Second there is the snowflake hands, I find them awkward and not sleek and elegant like they should be, thirdly I also find that many of them are too thick. I have had several Tudors, now I only have two I think, they are older models, one from 1962 and another from 1999, they don’t have the dreaded snow flake hands and they look elegant, not too thick either.

“Cheapened my collection” reminds me of the archieluxury black bay burgundy moment of shame in a restaurant when a guy walked in with a Patek and a lady the pootiph fancied. Everyone picked on him when he confessed, but now I sort of see the point too. I have 2 Tudors and 36 other watches (I just buy what I like too…so not a systematic collector). To be honest, the Tudors are definitely at the low end of the spectrum, cost wise. Normal people mistake them for Rolex watches (normal people don’t know watches much) so the shame of wearing a lowly Tudor is just in the wearer’s mind (if the wearer knows too much for his own good).
