Tudor lives rent free in Mike's head!!😁 Re: Zulu Time. It is a fantastic watch both for the money _and_ quality. The dial is quite intricate, and it's incredibly well finished overall, especially when viewed under a loupe where the precision of the raised minute track and surrounding details become extremely apparent.

I really want to enjoy a Longines Zulu time. But since I've seen the shaky GMT hand, I can't unsee it. I know it doesn't affect the daily function of the watch, but it just bothers me to the point that I can't purchase the watch with the confidence that I'll enjoy it.

Back during the time when I did not know anything about watches, I passed by some Tudor boutique and was immensely attracted to them. Currently owning 2, and I'm not ashamed to say that it is my favorite watch brand. However, I know my budget limitations and currently have more watches than I actually need, so I would rather have a cheaper alternative the next time I try to add something to my collection. Also a proud owner of Oris Diver 65 (thanks for mentioning it). Glad that I was able to buy it for just around $1,100 before analog watches got an insane price increase

Hi Mike: Comparing watches in different price ranges that you want to wear for certain occasions is an excellent approach, as long as they fit your budget. My choices have been: - The Ranger was on my list but I already had a Sinn 556i and love it for everyday wear. - The Black Bay Chrono lost against a Sinn 903 ST II HB, which I was lucky enough to get last month. It was actually supposed to be a Hanhart 417 ES. This remains on the list. - My diver of choice is the Sinn U50 DS - even if not everyone likes the scratched dial, I love it. It will remain a watch for rough stuff for a very long time. - As a sports watch, I decided against the BB 36mm and in favor of the Nomos Ahoi 36mm Atlantik. - Dresser: 1965 Vintage IWC, serviced by IWC this year. Priceless. Nevertheless, Tudor is still on my wish list. But at the moment I don't know which model would fit into my collection because I’m poorer but happy. And sorry for the long comment. 😉

In India Longines is hugely popular, of course Rolex is number 1 here also, swatch group leads with omega just after Longines and rado.sinn is brand I would love to buy but not available in India. The German brands more readily available are Nomos,Junghans, Mulhe glashutte, and Glashutte original. Thanks for the video. Of course Breitling also popular here.

Like you I have this tendency to compare watches from different price points as long as they give me similar vibes. Your propositions are very interesting and transmit those vibes. Now I'm not rich nor poor. I got myself a Rolex Sub last July - I am in very good terms with my AD, because I have a long history with them. This Sub is a very important watch for me since my young adulthood and is my first Rolex ever. I love Tudor as well. I have the Titanium Pelagos 39 and the thick GMT S&G ( rootbeer). As I was blessed with a 7.9 inches wrist I think I can dwell with this beast. I will go for the 41 Monochrome in the near future because it gives me the vibes from old. From the old Tudor Sub of course. I don't own any Omega Seamaster but I positive drool for the No Time To Day as well as for the Aqua Terra Worldtimer. I have a Speedy also. The Reduce from the late 80s. Watch snobs criticize them. I just love it. By the way a small watch isn't (almost always) too small for a large wrist while the contrary is true. I have since 2006 an Hanhart Caliber II with assymetric pushers to the crown and a 7750 (Workhorse) inside. I'm glad you've mentioned Hanhart because I think they knockout many out of the park and are still very affordable. Sinn is another brand I much appreciate while not having none at the present time. There's almost an alternative to everything in life, watches included of course. Once again you were right, Tudor has sometimes some models that for that price and specs one must think for a while before getting a viable alternative. Overall there's the vibe, the passion, and if there is an unsurpassable urge then beyond the specs and within reasonable prices one should get That watch. The one who fills that void. Cheers Mike

Thank you so much for another interesting and helpful video which, as always, was delivered in a relaxed conversational style and at a pace we europeans appreciate. If I may highjack the discussion slightly, or rather approach it from a different direction and make a few suggestions for Tudor, which might just increase their sales? 1. Pelagos 39mm incorporating a date as does the larger Pelagos. 2. A 39mm BB 58 GMT, but with a more restrained aesthetic. 3. As per 2 but but in titanium. 4. An update to the 39mm BB Pro in a thinner case similar to that use on the 39mm BB 58 GMT 5. A version of the BB 58 925 which retains the Taupe aesthetic but avoids the tarnishing issue of the current model by using a titanium case. In short, three developments. The inclusion of a date option on the Pelagos 39. The introduction of a 39mm GMT, preferably in titanium, which retains the aesthetic of the current BB Pro, but in a thinner case and finally, an option for the BB 58 925, which avoids the reported tarnishing issue. No doubt purists will decry the suggestion to include a date but as I think most commentators have said, very few of these watches are used for their intended purpose and the convenience of a date complication is very useful. Thank you for indulging my thoughts and by all means comment as you think fit.

I agree - I'll choose a watch because it makes me feel something specific, that my other watches don't. Price doesn't factor into the decision when I'm grazing at a baseline of 5k and upwards. Just because something costs more, it doesn't mean it's better. Just like rare doesn't always mean uncompromising. Some enthusiasts need a specific brand, others below or above a certain threshold, whilst others go with their heart, and a fair few seem to think they're good investments. Whichever your motivation, what matters is that you are following your inspired choice, for the reasons you need to justify the costs of ownership. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, as long as you are happy. In my humble opinion, authentic horological enthusiasm is a celebration of choice, storytelling, and legacy.

As one with owner experience, the Hanhart 417ES is probably the greatest value proposition in the entire realm of chronographs. As for Sinn, the brand has been owned by Lothar Schmidt for the last 25 years. Mr. Schmidt was chosen by Gunter Blumlein and Walter Lange to serve as the first technical director of the revived A. Lange & Sohne. The horological engineering at Sinn is far beyond what most people would ever expect for watches in the relevant price categories. Sinn does not just drop in third party movements and call it a day. As an extremely happy owner of another Longines Heritage reference, the Majetek would be a fantastic choice for somebody who wants to experience something more unique than a high production volume reference from Tudor. As a super huge Swatch brand globally, Longines has rights to ETA movements modified per Longines specifications which are exclusive to Longines.

Regarding the 1926, I think it is a very good option for those looking for something akin to the Datejust aesthetic. One thing I think people can easily lose sight of it the 1926 is actually under 10mm thick and is an automatic. That's not all that common. The Tangente suggestion is significantly thinner but as a manual wind I would expect it to be (and personally I think the Bauhaus look is not an ideal comparison to the 1926 which is far more romanticized with its waffle dial). And given this model still uses 3rd party movement tech its pricing is pretty low compared to the bulk of the Tudor catalog. Disclosure: I did own a 39mm 1926, but let it go years ago (too many other watches filled the same need for me in my collection).

I originally really wanted a seamaster but due to my small 6.25” wrist, I ended up getting the black bay 54. Fit like a nice glove.

Alternatives are what make me prevaricate so much when choosing, and the bane of my life.
