I finally got the courage to play a big European country the other week, chose the UK. I'd say after the first ¼ of the game you're just sitting there watching the numbers go up.

​@@jeffersonclippership2588 unfortunate symptom of the lack of lategame focus from Paradox over the last decade. They need to be spending more time on endgame mechanics for larger nations instead of the 130th special flavor pack for a OPM that most people won't play

Spain is a great sandbox if you want your game to be fun for longer, they're just weaker and a bit more backwards. They have Cuba and Philippines as subjects giving them places to land fleets and free regional interests. They're also really strong militarily, they just need to build like 50 flotillas and then they can re-establish their colonial empires in the Americas as a fun little thing they can do. Sadly they don't really have any flavour in the game, at game start date, they had a long civil war (the Carlist wars) fighting between liberals and conservative factions and there was a brief attempt at republicanism in the late 1800s. They're a medium frequently played country and European so I feel like the chances of them getting a flavour pack some day is high

I played a cursed game where victoria died super early and Edward became king as an infant, thus creating the Edwardian era and about 160 years later paradox created the game Edward. At least I imagine the last part happened 😁

To use the subjugate interaction the target needs to be of rank unrecognized major power or lower. So even if you manage to pull France into the bloc. You can't subjugate them. Something like the ottomans if they fail the reforms are a nice target though!

regarding selecting principles for your power bloc, dont forget hidden modifier that Tier 2 and 3 of your primary principle also gives +10 and +20 cohesion

Ah, the Thunderdome patch. It definitely makes the France to Turtle Island strategy a lot more difficult. I attempted it once, and the US expelled my diplomats just before I could get the relations to annex them, and they tried to attack me. I only survived with British assistance, and was able to annex them that way. Seems like the only way to make it work is to join GPs in their war efforts, so they have a positive attitude towards you.

Opium wars felt alot harder for me as qing in this patch i somehow got britian to declare for a beijing port and swayed russia in for altai and had to landing cheese to win seems a bit more resonable now due to changes like no war reps fron unincorporated

getting colonial admin mandate to level 3, then rushing nationalism lets you get a ton of infamy reduction, then raise colonial affairs to three and that's -35% infamy by like 1850? edit: sorry - it’s colonization and civilizing mission.

the french construction bunus actually aplies to all french construction rather then as a state modifier it works like copanies if you have wood company in others states you get the construction efficiency

You dont loose buildings if provinces swap owner or in a revolution, only during nationalization. You also gain more leverage if you have excess diplo.

Historically the British were not so concerned with trying to gain political domination over independent countries in the first half of the Victorian era, but rather using its financial power to gain influence via economic means alone (backed up by British military power if needed in case those financial interests were threatened). It's only when other European powers moved to create exclusive control of their economic interest areas and shut the British out that the British moved to more direct rule in places like sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. Would be interesting to see if just playing Britain using the power block to gain financial control without actually making nations protectorates is a viable strategy.

Im playing persia, already in British market for a while.. theres only few states are fully employed on every buildings like Tabriz, but many states like Isfahan - irakajami - Khorasan are not having their buildings fully employed, the case a saw was the goods price is more expensive on the states than the goods on British market, so i start trying to build even more buildings in hope to get more supply and bep the prices same as British market..

Does it worth to annex the subject? Most of the time, i dont have multiculturism, if i annex the subject, the amount of radical will spike and causing further reform become more difficult. And i will have to spend a lot bureaucracy point and 20 years to incorp them.

Imo Qing and France have always been stronger, and USA has probably been stronger since reverse sways were introduced.

@@generalistgaming yeah usa and britain are contenders, although i wouldnt consider qing better than usa, france or britain cause of the laws at start and how easily they could get beat up by russia and britain if you dont play carefully although if you do know its pretty easy to exploit but getting a rev could be detrimental to progress.
