About 10 years ago I went through a really bad divorce. About all I had left was a gas guzzling 4x4 truck and my kids now lived 100 miles away. I decided I would find an economical vehicle. I sat my budget at $13,000 (this was 10 years ago) and I couldn’t bring myself to get into a 4 cylinder sedan. So I ran a search and ended up at that time with a bunch of Impalas and Fusions. Kinda settled on the idea I’d end up with something like that. Then there was this ad for a 07 red V6 convertible (just like the one in this video). I wasn’t looking for a Mustang so much as a decent V6 car. So not being a GT V8 didn’t matter to me. It was good on gas so I bought it. It was perfect for that season of my life. My kids loved it and we have so many great memories from that car. It literally brought me out of a dark time and changed my life and my kids life. Loved that car.

Pretty embarrassing for a kid to school us adults on how we act on each other when we clown each other’s cars. I for one don’t discriminate. I like a four banger civic just as much as I like a v10 viper. It’s about appreciation. He’s right , I don’t want to impress some guy that hates v6’s. Those guys are never ending with their builds. It's not embarrassing in the slightest. He's not addressing the older guys that just joke around harmlessly, he was aiming more at the ones that turn their noses up and throw out a bunch of specs to make themselves feel all high and mighty. Not saying the younger ones don't do it too, but the older ones can definitely be ruthless to people just starting out with lower caliber vehicles. He was very mature about it and at his age he's right for calling it out as it's probably happened to him before as it does a lot of us.

It's honestly one of the best first cars to get. It's not a fast car by any means but for a v6, it's got some get up and go still. The thermostat housing always cracks but just get an aluminium replacement and your good. Parts are plentiful and cheap, and aftermarket support is amazing, platform is easy to modify and they are pretty reliable too so long as you maintain it like all things. I did a lot of suspension upgrades to mine recently, including lowering springs, GT500 front and rear control arms, shocks struts, new Panhard, tie rods, sway bars, and more. Handles more like a sports car should if you give it some love. Throw on a Flowmaster axle-back to give it some bite, and it's a fun cheap weekend or daily driver. I absolutely love my little v6 to bits. A simple car for simple means, and looks good while doing it. Next time tho, I'm getting either a 2014 GT.

I’ve had my 2005 V6 since May 2005. Supercharged it in 2006. Have been running it for 17 very enjoyable years. With the right mods you can take one of these to around 400HP, and with the current low-ish prices, you can build one that’ll take a non- blown GT pretty affordably. The way I have mine set up, with a TR6060 manual, 4.30 rear gears, and plenty of handling mods, including a Watts link, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Just straight up fun to drive.

Ive modded mine to an extent that it sounds good, gets up to speed quick with new gearing, and I never really stomp on it to make me want to feel the aggressiveness of the V8. My biggest reason for buying a V6 Mustang is the OBNOXIOUS noise I hear on the road from other Mustangs. Some of those have V6 engines with rumbling exhaust systems. If you actually want to have fun with a car and test it's limit (and your limits) you need to buy one as cheap as possible. If you wreck it or hit a curb while sliding you don't risk much. I decided to buy a rear wheel drive and wanted one with 4 seats. I also wanted it to be as cheap as possible as stated above. The Mustang V6 2008 is what I ended up with. 4K Canadian dollars. I owned a VR6, Gsr, WRX and a Civic in the past but the Mustang V6 is the most fun I ever had with a car. Being cheap really helps as I said because I'm not stressed of loosing loads of money if I mess up. The rear gets loose eazy on dirt road or snowy roads by the way :). Going fast in a straight line gets old pretty fast. Anyway Ford say that the v6 will 0-60 in 6.5 second vs 5.0 seconds for the v8. Big deal! Both will get your lisence revoked fast enough if you get caught :P

I will honestly say that it RIPS. I drive a 2013 Mustang GT Premium and on some days we will swap cars and I am never mad when I'm driving her V6. It legitimately goes! She got this car for 10k with 58k miles 2 years ago and she never wants to sell it. Ford definitely did right by the v6 with the S197 models 4.0 and 3.7.

Just bought an 09 that needs a transmission, doesn’t have reverse, drives forward, body & interior in good shape, not bad for $1000

Man that was a good point of view, I have a 2015 v6, it has sway bars, coils, big brakes wheels and tires and that thing keeps up just fine when things get twisty. That’s all that matters to me

And then in 2011 I believe they came out with the 3.7L V6 with a whopping 305hp & 280tq.. the engine I have for my 2014. It doesn't sound like a V8 but moves similar to one! And with some mods you can have it going faster & sounding better! B)

Some1 hit me & I got $3700 for it after buying it for 3k like 4 years & 100k miles ago lol best deal ever. Never had any problems besides needing an alternator. Well I put about 1500 in aftermarket body parts and wrapped it myself. Now it looks great. Only problem is I bought a '15 Challenger rt but I don't wanna sell the mustang anymore lol it has a completely different look

alot of v6 mustang owners are older & had several V8 mustangs in the past. the 4.0 manual trans is plenty quick enough for people who no longer care about fast cars anymore.there still a HELL of alot more fun to drive than a minivan or camry.NOT everyone needs or wants a V8.the 4.0 is adequate.

I have a 07 stang ragtop v6 with 36 k never seen rain or snow I live in the north the top goes down in the spring goes back up in the fall for storage fun in the sun that v6 is a solid engine much better than 4 ecoboost in the new ones yeah it has more power but how long will it last

Sometimes i feel like i am the only one who would willingly chose a v6 over v8. Idk about US, but here, there is basically no difference between price of a v8 and v6 and even the insurance is the exactly same. The reason for me being the sound, which i like way more with v6 option, while that 360 HP are more than enough, maybe more ideal, for country road experience.

I decided on a 2013 3.7 v6, which absolutely blows the 4.0 out of the water. It has 312 horsepower stock with 93 octane. With a good tune and fbo it beats the 5.0 coyote off the line. The fastest one right now has ~600hp and a 9 second ¼ mile. The 4.0 is still good, but if you're gonna get a v6 id spend a little more on the much faster and better 3.7. All of the mustangs are cool and should all be respected.
