I am so glad you got to witness some of the winds in Iceland. You keep bringing on my memories. Yes, the wind can be strong! We used to have SPs (police) at each bus stop to catch the kids and shove them into the bus huts. Mom took her little Brownie troop on a trip to the BX on base. There were a pair of petite girls that were identical twins, that got caught in the winds and blown down the street. Mom pulled a paper towel box out of a trash can and put all the other girls in it while she chased down the twins, Yep, she did catch up. When the winds blew it was always a 2 or 3 buddy system. Love hearing your stories and I hope your kids come away with the sweetest memories of my favorite home

I think the movie that was supposed to be filmed was called “Vikingr.” It ran out of money and then it was sold off to Netflix for “The Witcher.” As I was watching, I realized a spring trip to the North Shore of Lake Superior in MN would lend some similar experiences. Iceland is more mountains and MN is more forest with tall basalt formations. We have a black sand beach in Minnesota up in Silver Bay, which is on Lake Superior. Incredibly beautiful up there. In the winter we can get those same ice formations and more. Sometimes we even get ice caves that you can walk through. Lake Superior is often like the ocean and never freezes except close to the shore area. Because the waves are always roaring, especially in winter, these sheets of ice come crashing on shore and break apart. MN also gets the Northern Lights! They’ve been active the past year or two. Your trip looks beautiful and what a great way to make family memories! Iceland is on our bucket list so it’s great to see your experiences!

What a great and fantastic adventure being in all parts of Iceland. Seeing icebergs, beautiful mountains, Diamond Beach. That’s pretty awesome seeing icebergs on the beach and seeing the black sand that was soft. This is for a a great learning experience for the kids. Especially seeing the Viking boat and the buildings. Nice you saw a little bit of Northern lights. I would agree that wind was looking pretty strong..But you all handled it pretty well. Great video! Have a great week and weekend.

Yep! That's the one. This is Vestrahorn Mountain (where you see the loose sand going over halfway up the mountain sides). It's pretty epic and also wild to think the film never happened but so cool they left it there and now other things can be filmed there too.
