Been watching the vids for 5 or 6 years now and really enjoyed switching up the festival type with this one. Was interesting and engaging, standing out from the recent music festival vids that can be hard to differentiate. The suggested idea at the start mentioning covering different types of events other than music got me excited.

Good Morning Ben! I used to live in Edinburgh and really miss this madness on my doorstep. You guys did it just right! You have got to see the show that just misses the mark, the hidden gems, and all the have a go heroes. I've seen so many comics that were starting out and went on to be really famous and just such rich talent.Our group was lucky to have a friend in our circle who did reviews for The Scotsman and gave out Fringe Firsts, which would immediately sell out. We had the inside line and could buy up tickets to see some great stuff, but the best was always the random basement gig.

I completely agree with Rob on this one the festival is very cool in terms of what they do but you definitely get the feeling the comedy is catered to a certain type of person. I like edgy comedy and the kind of comedy you get there caters to your more woke sensitive types.

Great vid. Used to go to the fringe every year and a lot of nostalgia here for me (inc Guru Dudu - it burns a lasting memory). Mary’s right you need another day at least. And the gotchas you fell for - running around too much, getting overwhelmed by booking options and missing shows - are par for the course on a first visit. There’s methods and tactics. You pick them up after a few visits and the logistics get easier.

You guys missed the best areas to go, Bristo/George Square or The Pleaseance! Live music, food stalls and bars, totally your kind of vibe. You are right though that it’s getting more difficult to just turn up to shows, and needs planning unfortunately

Another good video about something that's actually quite hard to cover properly. I totally agree with Rob at the end that the comedy is very samey at the Fringe and that anything 'edgy' falls flat. It's been getting like this for a decade at least & I know people who work there as well as booking gigs & it's a massive issue to find comics who are actually funny, will draw an audience and won't alienate casual punters. The other problem is that the Fringe (and Edinburgh generally) is so expensive for people but that's another video for another channel. I've just realised as well you're going from Leeds Festival to Burning Man. You're all insane but I can't wait to see the results. When we went we arrived in LA about 6 days before Burning Man started. Got the RV & bikes in LA, went to Vegas, spent a day around Area 51 before heading to Burning Man so we didn't rush things, & managed to slowly get used to being in the desert all the time. My big advice apart from get lots of water, is put some clothes in a sealed bag for when you're travelling back from Burning Man. You're coated to be coated in dirt, & although there are parts of the festival that has showers, they're not common like a Glastonbury or most other European festivals. As there's no infrastructure at all there on the playa and everything is brought onsite there's a limited amount of facilities. Hence why we got the RV that had a shower. We could at least clean some of the muck off each day but you end up getting used to it but you'll be looking forward to a decent shower. Anyhow, good luck, don't lose any more phones and oh, the playa is a dried out sea bed. Much of the sand you'll be getting covered in is actually very tiny fossilised sea creatures...

As an Edinburgh resident born & bred who maybe goes in to town once all month at the festival (if at all) its actually so good to see an outside perspective and see the attraction of why people descend on the city every august coz genuinely every year I always say "why would anyone waste their money coming here when its a nightmare?" But actually, as someone whos loved music festivals since i was 16 like you guys do (im now 39) its nice to actually see people come to edinburgh and embrace the vibe in the city coz as A local who still needs to work through it day to day I've never actually seen the "tourist" side of it. Thank you for shedding a different light on something thats done nothing but annoy me most of my adult life. Next year im defo gonna try and embrace and enjoy the fringe a bit more

Should come to Denmark for Copenhell in Copenhagen this summer. What an awesome festival. It had its 10 years anniversary this year. There is camp there or cheap hotels wirh shuttle busses from city cenre to the festival grounds. And come to my country Norway and do Tons of Rock. You can go to both since they are so close. one each week. And they have the MASSIVE hands playing. Come to the north. We have better summers than Leeds do or Wngland. Come do Tons of Rock and Copenhell.
