I'm going with one of the Suzuki S40s for my first bike (because big single-cylinder, carbureted engine), but I love these CP2 engines. My second bike is definitely going to be one of the new R7s.

Yep I have a Yamaha V-MAX 1200 and under the rear reg plate there is a sticker Loud Pipes save lives, and I run Supertrapp pipes, I am 65 so an old codger but agree that nowadays even more so you need to be seen and heard. I always liked the Yamaha MT01 still hankering after one but did not sell many in the UK so super rare fantastic bike though would be hard pressed to decide which one to keep if a tidy one came my way, saving beer tokens at the moment to get a first gen Indian FTR 1200 before I hang up my leathers.

I'd think about a Fournales air shock for variable spring rate if your only doing "local" rides.

Got one with Akra Titanium..it sounds absolutely amazing and what is sold it to me. Bad on/off throttle and suspension aside, its just a perfect beginner bike.

Lol, great bike but bad on/off throttle and suspension sucks…umm thats kinda important 😳
@marius933 жыл бұрын
@@greatcornholio5541 Absolutely, but no bikes is perfect, and for the price of the bike and as an overall package, it is adequate. Suspension feels planted on day to day use and when I push it as far I feel comfortable with in the twisties, I dont personally mind it at all. The issue is most prevalent when breaking to a full stop. For me, the throttle is the most annoying thing and is something I will fix with a tune at some later time. It is just a software issue which I cant fathom why they didnt fix with the 2021 MT-07 update..but yeah. By reading my comments its easy to think the MT-07 is a shit bike, lol..the engine is just so good that it dwarf all other issues the bike has.

@@jayryan7473 There is no final answer :p Its all up to preference and how important the individual components of a bike's feature is to you. In their own ways there are many bikes that are better, of course.

Good looking bike. What happened to the front fender and chain guard? If you ride enough, eventually you WILL get caught in an unexpected rainstorm and realize how much dirty, nasty road water is flung up by the front tire. Also, I know this is the topic of much debate over the years, but not sure if loud exhaust pipes make motorcycling any safer. Most (not all) fatal crashes occur when a vehicle turns left in front of a motorcycle. Can the offending driver hear the bike when he doesn't even see it and turns left? It's been the topic of debate for years and not sure even after riding for 30+ years. And yes, I have had a couple of mishaps over the years and have a few trips to the E room as a result! That being said, I'm a Goldwing kind of rider these days.

My guess is the chain guard was removed from its stunt bike days. He said it was a stunt bike from the previous owner

Exactly. This is NOT a starter bike for anyone. This is a left handed gift to himself through his GF. Like buying a 50 LB recurve bow for yourself and giving it to your GF that has never shot a bow and claim it is for her. I don't agree with any of this.

Love the keyboard warriors and motorcycle professionals on here claiming to know what a good starter bike is. Honestly there is no specific class of "good starter bike". What someone starts out on depends on many factors related to the individual so unless these internet scholars personally know this guy and his girlfriend they are just talking out of their asses.

I have a 2016 fz07 and I enjoyed this discussion, but don't say loud pipes save lives, it's pure bs, do your research. It also gives motorcyclists a bad name that we can't afford. If you like loud pipes for the sound and looks, just leave it at that.

Agreed. What saves lives is paying attention, slowing down and having proper training.
