If you don't know yet, you can download custom frimware that lets you add different effects from the other ms-50g and ms-60b pedals. I have mine set up with a lot of reverbs and delays but also saturation and fuzz effects so its really a whole pedalboard in one pedal
@rederickfroders197811 ай бұрын
Honestly this thing is worth the money for the reverse reverb effect alone. If you want that effect from any other pedal you'd have to pay way way more. A Hardwire rv-7 is expensive and rare.

I wish they would release a zoom 70cdr mkii where all the effects are fully stereo, and all the delays and reverbs are able to go 100% wet (so I can use it as a send effect), and with 5pin midi in (would love to have the pattern tremolo synced to midi clock [not just the right tempo, but starting on the downbeat]).

I purchased this bad boy back in 2013 plus the Red coloured Bass version. Zoom has still been surprisingly supportive of these decade old units with firmware updates which have incorporated more emulations in the DL Firmware on their support pages. So have a gander to see if you have the latest firmware. I use these badboys for spicing up synthesised tones. Both Zoom units have a rather polished Ghetto sound, beware these are not for tone snobs but.... I personally feel they are more for experimental tinkerers..... that don't require perfectly emulated stale snake oil expensive digital clones. So in a nutshell, it's a no brainier. The Particle Verb is worth the admission alone.

I can imagine this would be very useful for old synths? I’ve acquired a terrible sounding old Korg Poly 800 (!) but I think with this pedal it’d actually sound interesting

@stuffnuns Жыл бұрын
Yep, I the 2 synths I hated back in the day were the Korg Poly800 and Korg Poly6. For me, those were the yuk factor syths. . .but, hey, just my o. But, adding FX to those oldies will really kick em up at least a notch or 3. As for bang for buck, the MS-70CDR is great. Caveat, I agree with several users, the presets are meant for guitar, and don’t necessarily sound good with synths. So, be ready to learn the box and create some magic.

Designer of the Particle Verb algorithm? You guess it: Angelo from Meris. True story!
@johanneschristopherstahle3395 Жыл бұрын
Tried to replicate the idea with my DigiTech GSP 2101. But since you have to feed the signal back from the end of the chain into the beginning of the chain (reverb into pitch shifter + delay back into the reverb) the GSP shuts down the sound completely to avoid feedback. Having the old Brian Eno trick being built into a single algorithm makes it so much easier to use. I'm really thinking about buying an MS 70

Indeed. If you use it in an effects loop/ aux send, and use the effects 100% wet, tone suck isn’t an issue (of course some effects like chorus will sound different with that arrangement)

You say you don't like the reverbs ... I would be buying this for guitar and synth (Behringer Model D and Pro 800). I know a well known Jazz guitarist who uses one and loves it. So, what's wrong with the reverb?
@sub-jec-tiv Жыл бұрын
I think with reverbs, electroacoustic instruments like guitar sound great through so-so reverbs due to their organic overtone changes, whereas synths are more synthetic and can be quite static timbrally, and sometimes reverbs can just come across as grainy or less interesting. You could afford to try this pedal, and if you don’t like it, sell or put it on your shelf. Honestly i’d keep it for the delays alone. Personally i like some of the reverbs in this unit. Especially the weird stuff like backward reverb. I keep it in an effects loop, and i have this pedal, and then send that into a ‘better’ reverb, a short room, at 100% wet. That way i get the strange character effects of the zoom, but i have another reverb there to finish up the texture so it sounds less grainy.
@JeffreySaxophoneTallNewton Жыл бұрын
Thank you, great points! What's the "other" reverb? My main instrument is saxophone, and I want a reverb unit for that, too. TC Electronics "Nova Reverb" is of interest - just heard a great player with one.@@sub-jec-tiv

Thanks ! I had the ocean machine for about a week and returned it about 3 years back. I did not really like it. The reverbs have lots of comb filtering artifacts (metallic sounds) and the reverbs lacked diffusion and good modulation. The delays were passable at best.

As evidenced by the fact that you assume I’m not skilled a propos of nothing; in fact I have many highly developed skill sets - at least one is unique worldwide, and makes me far more money than I need. None of which changes the fact that this is a cheap pedal - cheapness is relative to other items in a class, not whether you personally can afford it or not. Another sign you’re not too bright there.
