The team and experts head to Llancaiach Fawr manor, near Caerphilly, South Wales, to investigate an ancient moat. The team's geophysicists feel the site should provide them with the ideal conditions to determine what the ditch was originally designed to guard - but the project soon becomes one of the most baffling investigations in the programme's history.

22:26 You don't always get an opportunity to have archeologists dig on your property, you do always have time to grow more grass, I'm always glad when people don't care about tearing up the lawn for a bit to let these guys dig.

I wish my country had the money, brains and guts to make a program like TT. I secretly think that if we plopped down some archaeologists into any country on the planet, they would come up with some amazing finds and a great show. I guess what I am saying is that I really want to take Phil to Croatia and leave him there with a shovel and some beer :) Edit: Having now watched the video fully, I realize this may not have been the best comment to make on this particular episode. So you can't plop archaeologists ANYWHERE and expect a bunch of amazing finds... but at least it is still a great show.

Thank you for all your comments pointing out the rather glaring mistake in our titling of this episode. In our defence, we've licensed 250 episodes of this wonderful show, so it was bound to happen sooner or later. Look out for the episode about The White Queen soon, and we hope you enjoy The Mystery of the Manor Moat!

I have been watching Time Team and all the specials that go with it for about 6 years now and by not listing the season and episode and showing them in sequence you rob people of getting to know the team over the years and see how the show grows and changes over time. Also, there are several episodes that build upon previous digs and showing them without sequence is confusing. Take a look at how these two contributors handle it to see it done in a way that allows viewers to truly get to know the team best. kzbin.infoplaylists kzbin.infoplaylists

@@happyreeds My pleasure. I have watched all the episodes, time team, time team specials, time team digs, time team live, etc. multiple times and I got to know them through the seasons. Much better way to go. By the way, if you're really into these types of shows maybe this line of shows will interest you too. They are based on experts, historians and archaeologists, living the lives of commoners in Britain throughout the centuries. Secrets Of The Castle Ruth (historian), Tom (Archaeologist), And Peter (Archaeologist), travel to France for 6 months to take part in building a medieval castle as it would have been built back then, living the lives of workers on site. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5XSg3SYpbyZebc Tales From The Green Valley: Ruth, Tom, And Peter In this BBC documentary series we get to follow a small group of historians and archeologists as they recreate farm life from the age of the Stuarts. They wear the clothes, eat the food and use the tools, skills and technology of the 1620's for one year. kzbin.info/www/bejne/moPNYoyPo9h1fc0 Tudor Monastary Farm: Ruth, Peter, and Tom. The same as the Green Valley Series, but in Tudor Time when Monastaries controlled the countryside. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z3yvgpWFrM6Vq9U Victorian Farm: Ruth, Peter, Alex. Same as Green Valley but in Victorian times. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXvCdGaAlpmUrck Edwardian Farm: Ruth, Peter, Alex. Same as Green Valley but in Edwardian Times. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5SlnWeVZ6t9jpY Wartime Farm: Ruth, Peter, Alex. Same as Green Valley but in Wartime- WW1. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eYbWhmipZdSZj9E These series are the experimental archaeology Phil touches on during Time Team episodes played out over years of trial and error. It tied together so much of what I learned from watching Time Team and everything made so much more sense.

New fan! I live in the US and my family have been here for, at the newest, 4 generations and, at the oldest, since my two ancestors who were on the Mayflower. Even though I'm an American and proud to be I have always been very interested in the UK since that is where the majority of my ancestry comes from. According to my DNA test I am 81% English/Welsh/Scottish, 76% of that being English. We also don't have the history over here like you guys do because the US is a BIG place and we have to glean our history from archaeological sites and native folklore. There were no monks here to chronicle our story here. I hope you Brits guard our history zealously, you're lucky to have as much of it as you do.

Here's a giggle for you. There are so many Robinsons because during medieval times, children born after the revels of May Day--those to unmarried women--were known as Robin's son, i.e. the child of the forest, intimating that Robin Hood was the father. Having Robin's son wasn't considered awful, and no woman (that I've heard of, anyway) suffered from having one. Indeed, her fertility was assured, and they were often in demand as wives.

Why is it that both this show and Time Team only gave themselves 3 days to do a dig? Seems like such a waste of time In order to do a proper dig most sites (I thought) give themselves a minimum of 2-3 weeks. Can anyone tell me why TT and Timelines digs are so incredibly short?

Trojanette83 Because television. Drama is part of storytelling, so of course all shows must have drama. See also Big Brother.

This video IS Time Team! Time Team came about when Mick Aston and several others got together to produce a show featuring live archaeology, before this virtually undone. They wanted to bring archaeology to the masses, to both educate them and get them interested. As for the three days issue; Most of the experts and diggers involved have regular jobs and sacrifice their weekends to do this so more than three days in unfeasible. The type of archaeology done here is exploratory, defining the area, the timeline, the state of preservation, and a basic understanding of what the site contains. For instance a Roman villa on an acre of land, 3rd to 4th century, and eight inches below the grass. For all the episode, including TT Digs, TT Specials and other shows involving Time Team, in order and labelled by season and episode these two contributors have it all. kzbin.infoplaylists kzbin.infoplaylists

@@billie-jobenway8658 Is it true? I think I read somewhere that Nick or Mick Aston has since, passed away. Is that true? Is this the reason why Time Team no longer exists?

The fact that they found a piece of prehistoric vase or a very old coin do not mean there was a settlement there for that time - I have very, very old things in my house but I live in the 21st century.

People talk like there was only one evil time for us nope this same thing has went on since before we ever made it to England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Carthage’s are more than likely us not just druids and for sure our bones are under Rome and this time they refer to mid evil because people remember us being burnt alive for our bibles. It wasn’t the first time it happened twice before that it’s what God calls the saints being trodden down by the heathens. So we’re in the half time period. We’ve been infiltrated impersonated and lied about killed. This half time is ending soon. We have what I’ve calculated to be within 50 years as it’s half a time. I’m not sure exactly how long is a time but it’s close to 600 years and now since we were impersonated again it’s almost been 300 years that is almost half a time so their time is running out and they are planning now and have been in the process of clearing their name and making sure people say were evil so lies are told and we’ve become restless. Us and them. So now they’ve made the law Noahide laws they’re ready for a repeat this half time I think they will lose and so it’s half a time. They’re actually in the process of handing our land over to others. Jesus come.

What a waste of time and film. Or, was it. Science doesn't exist to prove your hopes and dreams. It's tough and often disappointing. I'm sure all archaeologists hope to find another King Tuts Tomb.
