Hi Kerry, I used to work for M&S about 20 yrs ago and they were a great company to work for with lots of vouchers for staff to buy the new food displayed in stores then if a customer asked what it was like we could give an honest opinion but not sure if they still do that now also on Christmas Eve after the store was closed to customers they would sell their Christmas food off to staff at a fantastic reduced price. Now I don’t do food shopping there because our nearest one is over 20 miles away since moving to Yorkshire, but still enjoy watching you visit these large stores

I checked out our m&s today , yes between all food are the budget range items, maybe still not Lidl prices. But yes your right you did find one. Remarkable Value Range . It’s not noted as budget range. You had put doubt in my mind. Hehe. Maybe it’s worth if your interested to ask m&s to help you find them . The extra string cheddar is £7.00 for a big slab , but it’s so strong , my hubby loves it.

Hi Kerry, I’m quite close to you, over near Tiptree. Have visited that M&S a couple of times. Picked up some nice sweets for the grandchildren for Xmas last year. It’s a lovely shop, but like you, it’s out of our budget unfortunately. Thanks for showing us round.

Since people have being using Aldi and Lidl the other supermarkets have started lowering their prices to compete with them but they're not reducing prices to the same as Aldi and Lidl prices.

Hi Kerry, i like M&S, i go in every week, i usually buy a boulle, which is a load of bread, 2 currant scones, 1 eccles cake off the fresh counter and a couple of cream cakes for me and my sister. You can get some tins of soup cheaper than Heinz and they are much nicer. Some of the jams are quite cheap as well. I also bought some chicken drumsticks the other week, i can't remember the price but they were a good size. I know you pay more but it is a lot better quality

That was very interesting Kerry as I’m watching from Melbourne, compared with our supermarket prices M&S were comparable, our food prices can be ridiculous, we have to make sure we get the specials. We do have Aldi but they aren’t very big stores but they compete well with Woolworths and Cole’s. I know when I visited my daughter down in Surrey I thought Waitrose was cheap 😂😂

Fruit looks lovely but we don’t have a m and s food near me . Nearest is 20 ish miles away when Aldi is 5 miles and nearest Lidl is 12 ish miles

Kerry, check the ingredients in sausages - Tesco are starting to use bamboo fibre as filler- even in their finest range! Where Tesco go others follow.

Wow Kerry what an incredible range of goods. I now live in Australia and our main supermarkets are Coles and Woolworths. Neither have that sort of range even in their biggest stores. Not much competition here so prices are high. I have to shop mainly in Aldi as a report has just come out that Aldi is 25% cheaper on the basic home goods. I notice the fruit and veg are half the price to ours. Spuds here are mostly $4.00 a kilo!! locally grown. We know these supermarkets are price gouging. Wish we had Liddels. Cheers. I must add that Aldi source their fresh products locally in each state. They have a good free range in meat and poultry and eggs too. I only ever buy 5% fat mince. Never see 20% here it would rot on the shelves.

Off topic but the M&S website has some fine looking recipes. The Tom Kerridge chicken thighs and mushrooms looks good. and the Ribeye steaks with brandy and mushroom sauce They also have a 'personalise your meal plan' which looks good.

The mini pulled pork sausage rolls are delicious £3:99 for 4, but if you buy 3 packs it’s only £8 for 3 packs. So you are practically getting a pack free. They have different sausage rolls so we buy the 3 packs because I can’t eat a large sausage roll. I find Lidle is better quality than Aldi. You are supposed to store your produce in those flimsy Aldi bags to preserve them.

As an American subscriber, it's always fun to see more about British food shopping options. Marks & Spencer seems an interesting concept - a "department store" that also does groceries. We have similar stores, but nothing quite the same - Target or Fred Meyer (in the Pacific Northwest) come to mind. The M&S selection looked quite good and lots of different offerings. Very enjoyable video.

I think M&S have a known name for their budget range. It doesn’t stand out, it’s amongst other bits. In my opinion there is no comparison. Yes I think the name you said sounded right for the budget range. . It’s not something I go for on it’s own , I get what I need . They do go offers on multi packs as well.. I will ask when I go in next week what the range is called for you. You will find yellow stickers every day. As they sort dates everyday . And anything with certain dates with get the yellow stickers. Will def find out the name this next week for you. I will be in there a couple of times .

Prob 3x or 4x a lidl shop I reckon Jen🤪💕 def need a fat wallet to shop there, fair dooos to those that can. Lidl is the shop for me, I don't like paying over the odds for something when I can get it cheaper elsewhere

I saw that quality decline when roaming about in waitrose, thought the building was relatively young as well but just googled it, has been there for 15years! I've been in twice lol, poss not their target market😅m&s food seemed to be packaged a lot more nicely

M&S budget range ?????? Kerry it doesn't taste any better you think it does as it costs more , my uncle always bought his wine in Sainsbury's he insisted it was better I bought the same wine in Asda swapped a bottle of mine for his ( same wine same brand !) he didn't believe me till we compared the bottles ( I'd initialled my bottle ) £2.00 cheaper. I got him to shop in Lidl and Aldi after retirement..

Valerie my neighbour used to shop in m&s and when it closed down, I took her to lidl. She couldn't believe the prices for one thing and was over the moon with the quality 😀👍

M&S are 10 times the better quality food than Lidl’s or Aldi. I find them to be crap. Try M&S ketchup £1 it’s awesome.

Can’t compare m&s to lidl when it comes to animal welfare. Lidl is appalling. The chicken drumsticks show clearly the chickens live in cramped conditions and there areas aren’t cleaned out regularly. And it shows in the taste. The chicken is truly awful from lidl. Pretty sure the 20% fat mince is £2.50 across most supermarkets also. That includes m&s. I’ve had some very nice things from both m&s & waitrose cheaper than tesco. Maybe not lidl but they just aren’t comparable. It a shame you didn’t purchase a few things to compare to m&s. But I think the review will always be biased on price! Also the fruit and veg will outlast lidl. It’s definitely a lot fresher from m&s. Looks more appealing when you walk in the shop. That says it all

That's why I said m&s meat is higher welfare, unfortunately not everyone can afford m&s prices, so shops like lidl/aldi are life savers. Was interesting to check it out nonetheless. But no, it was not necessary to purchase items for comparisons, as vlog was just a walkabout. Price always wins for lidl obv but quality is definitely very good in m&s, that's a given.

Just 5min in & I hear you compare M&S to Lidl a huge amount its almost every comment. Its really not the same quality food though, they are miles apart. It makes this video a poor comparison . If you buy in season the fresh fruit & veg at Lidl can be close but anything prepped or meats is really not even close in quality. People will of course disagree but food is a global market, no one has access to cheap food. The only choices are if the sellers choose to make less money with lost leaders. Every supermarket has them you just need to have the ability to spot them including in M&S. I shop in all the major supermarkets but buy what they are good at. If every single thing your looking at is about price not flavour then stick to Lidl, but they do not taste the same & for most people paying £1 more for food they enjoy eating is worth it.

I mention quality differences a few times as well, we all know m&s is better quality. It was interesting to see they had minimal budget range and waitrose was huge, albeit varied prices. Observational rather than critical
