I live in Africa, I enjoy seeing how the other side of the world lives. I like seeing the shops and the range of products that are out there :) Thanks for the great content.

Our nearest Waitrose is about 25 miles away just outside Glasgow so we've never shopped there,we dropped in on the way home one day but it was quite expensive so we didn't bother getting anything,I'll stick to Morrisons with my staff discount and early access to the reduced items,very enjoyable video again Kerry Xx

You gets what you pays for I find I actually done an experiment I bought some celery from M&S and celery from Lidl both were kept in the same place so same temperature ect M&S I still had a month later the Lidl one was manky within a week . I paid a bit more but lasted longer, I’m also experimenting with Riverford organics right now , so far very impressed by the time stuff is keeping plus any problems speak to them and they credited my account.

I agree with this. When I get chicken from Tesco, it last ages but when I get it from aldi, it goes off in about 3 days

Hi Kerry, we are very lucky that we have so much choice in supermarkets on our doorstep. What you can't get in one you can get in another, for a price. I tend to get most of my shopping in Aldi, Lidl and Tescos. I have had some wonderful bargains with the Lidls boxes, thanks to you. Waitrose is definitely quality but could never afford to do a weekly shop there. I got a ready meal once for quickness and to try from there. It was delicious but not cheap. I like Aldi for their meat mainly. But you do have to shop around. We're lucky as we're retired but for working mums on the go with families, it's no joke😕 Byee 👋Jen 💕😘xx

That's us too Jen😀👍💕have all the main ones plus 3 lidls and 2 aldi's, I prefer lidl because of its app, I get free food! Took home a fancypants rustic rye bread today that normally costs £2.09, + 5x med oranges, all free with the lidl app - woo hoo! Would never normally buy that bread, rather make it myself lol, but free! Definitely yes!

I shop at Lidl, Waitrose and sometimes Aldi and Tesco. There are some things in Waitrose that are close in price to Lidl and somethings way apart. I find Lidl better quality to Aldi, Tesco and Morrison. With the essential bacon you get very little water come out of it if any and the taste is very good. The Essentials Fruit and fibre in Waitrose was almost level with Lidl until recently but is dearer now. The difference is very little if any dust in the bottom of the pack so I buy Waitrose. Waitrose essentials tinned grapefruit does me three breakfasts and is good. Their jars of pickles are reasonable too and second to none. It’s worth trying Waitrose and only buying the things in your price range as you may find somethings taste better.

Hi There Dear Kerry , Thankyou for Showing The difference Prices on the same food comparing the Supermarket this shows that if you shop and be clever you can have the same ingredients and save money for another Day ?

Better quality at Waitrose though
@budgetcookinguk4 ай бұрын
I did say that at the end👍but tbf lidl quality is great as well, maybe not on the level of waitrose but not paying thru the nose for it. Get lots of free goodies on the lidl app too.

Agree...mince for example only get 5% fat as 20 is yuk...I never shop anywhere else as anything from other places ends up in the bin... mince esp is a con in other supermarkets as they put the lean on top on show and under that is thick gristle.. shocking...u get what you pay for...

The Dutchy milk is lovely from waitrose, it’s unhomogenised and from a farm near Perth. Pretty sure the land is owned by King Charles. They also sell unpasteurized butter. I do like a visit to waitrose but it’s not often as not nearby
@budgetcookinguk4 ай бұрын
It is King Charles land you're right, think he has high end tenant farmers/food producers on the land. Tis high quality, waaaaay out of my price range 😀👍

Would love to see a Lidl and Aldi walk about. So different to Australian supermarkets. Can’t believe the price difference between the 2 countries.

Well there is plenty of room to swing a trolly around in there Kerry, the place looks empty, so you can see there are not a lot of shoppers in there unless your in there at 06.00am lol

Even after the price cuts most of the stuff is still dearer than Lidl charge at the full price. It's the overall price of the shopping that I go on so Waitrose and other stores might be cheaper for the odd item but the overall price could be pounds dearer. Within 0.5 miles of me there's a Morrisons, Waitrose and an Asda local as well as Lidl. I find Lidl to be the cheapest overall for my shopping.

I've all supermarkets around me but lidl is best priced and nothing wrong with quality. Love the app too. Got a £2.09 fancypants rye loaf for 0 cost plus free bag of oranges. Today on 'spin the wheel' it's avocados! Have 7 days to pick up my freebie

It wasn't all gloom and doom Kerry Waitrose can be V surprising !!!!
@gwenstone81714 ай бұрын
The prices don’t take into account quality. I’ve bought both Waitrose and Lidl products. The difference in quality is vast. It’s got to be Waitrose every time for me. Even the tinned tomatoes from Lidl were inferior.
@budgetcookinguk4 ай бұрын
I did mention higher quality at the end Gwen 👍 personally I find the lidl tinned toms to be great quality, not so sure the difference is vast - definitely a gap but not by miles

Kerry ~ do you have a "dent and ding" store in your area? I guess it is a grocery salvage store that sells closeouts and "seconds." I try to go to one a couple times a year to see what I can find to stock up on. We do not have Waitrose in South Carolina but we do have LIDL and ALDI. I love to shop them.

@@budgetcookinguk my favourite shop , for food . Hehe. Good luck Kerry . Veg are brill and really last. The only thing I get confused on is they keep there potatoes in a fridge. I never have done that. But they last longer , I will say. I was always not to to put them in a fridge. Not really sure therefore. Hehe

yes..what time was that? lol. well filmed , Asahi beer..?cheapest place..is waitrose. tick. The most expensive place is co op. I find lidl ok, Aldi the worst...because nearly everything is loaded with tons of sugar.. ie ..the pate ...jeeez its like a sweet. Best cheddar.?..that has some flavour? ..Sainsburys organic vintage . i dont mind paying the price IF the flavour is up there.
