Is there a new Canon Pro-1000 being released this year Fotospeed | Paper for Fine Art & Photography

Canon have released 5 new printers with Lucia Pro II pigment inks.
Does this mean there is a new Pro-1000 coming with the new inks?
We do not know as yet, Tim is looking at the new printers and how they'd fit into an upgrade on the Pro-1000.

A Pr0 1600 with the new inkset and a roll feature would be amazing. Cutting and loading paper for panoramas is a pain in the a**.

I don't think I'll be upgrading from my Pro 1000 because to be honest the longer lasting ink won't matter i'll be long dead and also the scratch resistance doesn't matter to be I print and frame all my prints for myself and clients.

I just wish for more progress with laser printers but constantly failing inkjets with their overpriced inks are more profitable i guess.

@@lindacunningham3005 Hopefully the new version will be out soon. The Pro 1000 is 9 years old already. While I was considered the Pro 1000 printer, I found out that Canon came out with the new ProGraph 2600 for the new Lucia II Inks. The new inks are supposed to have darker blacks which was a weakness for the old Lucia Inks and better colors. I weighed the choice between waiting and spending about $1500 for the new version of the ProGraph 1000 whenever it comes out or spending $2500 and getting the new ProGraph 2600. It took me a long time to decide. The Pro 2600 is huge and heavy, but it gives me the option of printing my landscapes larger, which I really like, and it uses rolls instead of sheets, and it cuts the roll sheet automatically after it is done printing. So, I decided on the 2600. If you can't wait for the new version of the Pro 1000 and have the space and money, you may want to consider the 2600. However, it really is huge, heavy and requires a lot of space. The Pro 1000 uses 80ml ink cartridges which cost around $600 for a set and the minimum size ink cartridges for the 2600 is 160ml (PFI-3100 series) and cost about $1200 for a set. So, you have to consider that too. I just received my 2600 and I can tell you the colors look great on the Canon Semi-gloss 13 x 19 sheet paper I have. Yes, it can do sheets, but they have to be placed manually one at a time in the machine. I have not printed B&W yet. But I have high hopes for the Lucia II Inks. FYI - The 2600 requires 2 very strong people (or four average people 2 on each side) to lift it and place it on the supplied stand. That's another thing, it comes with a rollable stand and it's great. The printer unit by itself weights 187 lbs (more than twice as much as the Pro 1000). and with the stand it weights 223 lbs. As soon as I make some more prints, I'll try to remember to post my opinions here.
