Definitely some type of new something. I’ve never had this before. Cough won’t go away waking me up every night around 4 am because I’m wheezing so bad and it’s hard to breathe. Then I get up take my inhaler and cough for about an hour. This is NOT THE USUAL SUSPECTS! ID SUGGEST DOING SOME RESEARCH AND FINDING OUT WHAT THIS IS. I thought I heard reports about a month or so ago about an unusual respiratory illness in China.

Omg. Same. It is still ongoing for me for over a month and I too wake up at 4/5am suddenly on daily basis. The freaking doctors all say there is no problem and keep giving the same medicines which do not even relieve the problem.

@@schoolsucks4866 Get vitamin B12 and vitamin D levels checked. Low vitamin D will lead to low calcium and low calcium will cause a cough that doesn’t go away. Try calcium lactate for a few days to see if you get some relief.

I started out with a dry throat that would make me cough (didn't matter how much water I drank, I was still dry instantly after drinking). Morphed into a cold that lasted two weeks. But now, it's two more weeks after that and I'm still occasionally coughing up phlegm. It is definitely something new going around.

I've had this odd cough for 5 weeks now First week and itchy cough that isn't going away. No sore throat, just an annoying itch. Second week I start coughing up phlegm and mucus Third week my sinuses become blocked and I have over production of mucus in my sinuses. The pressure in my face gives me a constant headache. 4th week my smell and taste became weak and barely there,my hearing weakened also . I could only taste sugar or salt and nothing else. And I've been using the nasal spray beconase to help me breathe and it's helped a good deal but although I've been on strong antibiotics, I still have this annoying itchy cough and I keep bringing up phlegm colored yellow ISH green. It's felt like I've been unwell for so much longer than over a month. Its left me feeling drained and no matter how much I sleep,I'm always exhausted. Some days my appetite grows large but other days it's normal. I don't care what it is I just wanna be better and get rid of this annoying cough and blocked sinuses. It's caused my mental health to get bad and sometimes I have hope but other times I have no faith and I worry I'll have this illness forever or worse. I've just turned 21 and I wanna live my life happy and healthy as much as I can. But the only thing reliving my symptoms is the nasal spray a doctor advisor suggested over the phone. I hope you all in the comments can find a remedy and get well again fast! Cuz whatever this is . We can all agree that we want it gone. Even if some of us have something slightly different. We want it gone! 🥲💜💜💜 I'd also like to add that I've had allergy testing for pollen and a couple other common things and Im not allergic to any season changes and I've never felt this cough before in my whole 21 years of being alive. So I'm super confused and at a loss as I know what a normal cough feels like.😭

OMG you described my symptoms to a tee as well.... I'm 61 in very good health and in all my 61 years I've never had a cough and sinus/ headache pressure so bad and lingering, along with taste and hearing loss in one ear! This. Is. No. Normal. Sickness! Something most certainly not right. My entire family is suffering from exact same symptoms! Doctors claimed it's just the flu! Be we know no flu can last for months! I'm on day 16 of this. Air pollutants and cigarettes' smoke seem to make it worse. Has it gone away? It's been 8 weeks.

@@darrenwho unfortunately I still have it but thankfully the sinus infection went away with Beconase nasal spray and the itch in my throat isn't there anymore. I only have to cough up mucus a little bit now but being in dusty environments make it flare up for a day or 2 . It's been about 98 days tho ☠️i feel sorry if y'all still have it but I hope you all make a speedy recovery soon,it's not fun. X

@@Luna_Lilith01 I actually got diagnosed with strep throat, so not sure what I had before but getting strep right after probably was the issue. Everything healed up after day 5 of antibiotics except for my left lung which was still producing phlegm up until last night. Seems ok this morning though. We'll see hopefully it stays that way. I seem to get worse later at night. Tomorrow is my last day of antibiotics. I've never had it where it took the full 10 days to heal on antibiotics. Usually it's a few days then you feel better.

Could it be that people are more likely to experience a lingering cough because of the damages that can occur in even mild Covid cases? Or perhaps that we were all being more careful and inside and so our bodies haven’t had to deal with these illnesses as much in prior years? I understand there’s no NEW illness but is there any evidence of an increase in these lingering coughs this year compared to prior years?

Exposure to viruses does not make your immune system better. That is a myth. Getting less viruses just means that you are less sick. This current cough is probably another covid variant. Viruses are always bad and do nothing beneficial for the body.

I’m from India, after the Covid, everyone I know tells me if they get cough it takes more than a month to heal. And there are many who didn’t use to get cough also getting it very easily

I agree. I feel like Covid has somehow physiologically changed my lungs or bronchial tubes. My O2 remains good but I cough so hard my chest hurts, sometimes gasping for breath during a coughing fit. I supposedly have a "cold" but I'm 10 days in and no relief.

That’s a fallacy, my pulmonologist said there is a new disorder that many in Pulmonology are arguing is developing in children and adults in different ways, but it is leading to months long coughing

My son has had a cough for 8 weeks. I'm going to make an appointment this week. Started as a cough turned Into a cold. Now he has a cough mostly at night once or twice but still I should be gone by now. My other kids stopped coughing only him remains 😢😢

There is definitely something different happening in the UK - I personally know several people, including me, who have had a cough that prevents breathing in. I try not to panic and to slowly try to force air into my lungs until it is possible to cough again. It is so scary and every time it happens it feels like it is the end. One person I know actually went unconscious and woke up with cuts and bruises. Doctors do not seem to understand what we are talking about and just send us home with antibiotics... what is even more scary is that it isn't mentioned anywhere on the internet or on the news and doctors don't seem to be acknowledging it. I have never had anything so scary happen to me in all my life. I started coughing in March, at the beginning of April the attacks of being unable to breath started and lasted 3 weeks, I barely got any sleep and I was terrified. It is now May and I haven't had the attacks for a few weeks but I have a constant mucus in my throat and have to keep clearing my throat. I am getting through about 2 packs of Halls a day just to try and prevent coughing. I am not the only one.

I have the same chesty cough now for the last 3 weeks , can't get rid of it im on my second dose of antibiotics and I had steroid tablets as well ,its so annoying and exhausting not sleeping well waking up at 4 in the morning coughing up phlegm to try clear the chest ,bit weak not a lot of energy ,never had anything like this before , have an appointment today for hospital chest X-ray ,i can't wait to see the back of this cough,its very draining,i have a lot of sympathy for everyone who has it , get well soon 👍

I'm about 2 1/2 months and my cough left then came back worse than ever. I'm a singer and when I had my gig it made it worse. Try to not talk or sing as little as you can maybe just do vocal exercises.
