Dr. Eben Alexander had one of the most astonishing Near Death Experiences. Today he deeply believes in an afterlife, but for most of his life he didn’t believe in any kind of God or a soul. This is the story of his incredible journey to the afterlife and how he was changed forever.
Dr. Eben Alexander was a neurosurgeon who spent 15 years as an associate professor at Harvard Medical school. After operating on countless patients, he came to believe that the brain is really just a kind of machine. And that when the brain dies, everything about who we are disappears along with it. This is a worldview often called materialism, which leaves no room for a soul or for any kind of consciousness that survives after we die.
But all this changed after he was infected with a rare form of bacterial meningitis that put him in a coma. In his book “Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey into the Afterlife” he describes how bacteria attacked his brain, and completely shut down some of the most important functions we think of as making us human. The real mystery is that our current scientific understanding of the brain tells us that Eben shouldn’t have been able to perceive anything at all. And yet, somehow, he had the most vivid and elaborate experience of his life.
This is the story of how he crossed over, and visited a world so real that it makes the one we’re living in now seem like a dream by comparison.

In 1990 i had the classical NDE I had my last rites and went out for a small amount of “time” . I ascended upwards through a swirling tunnel of gases like clouds which was populated with glowing bodies until I reached a plateau of light where a central being of light was surrounded by other beings I recognized as all my loved ones living and dead . I was given a choice to come back to full fill a purpose or mission but was warned that my life would be filled with hardships . I obviously chose this path . Somewhere before or after I saw the ER and my mother and the medical team working on me from a vantage point above and all around. I heard all their conversations. I was rocketed back into my body and remember the nurse saying he’s back . Shortly thereafter I was stabilized and then went out again until I woke up a day later in the critical care unit. What’s truly amazing is this was before I ever herd any stories about NDE’s . This was before people were talking about them . I have had many psychedelic trips there after actually as I was a dead head lol . Ironic nickname really and I can say that the experiences of high doses of LSD are very similar to what is commonly described as higher consciousness and after life experiences. The earth is a place where gravity and electromagnetic forces combine to create the phenomenon of what we call life . Outside of this everything is floating in space. This thin layer of gases and organic material can be illusory and create a sense of totality but when you step outside of your senses you can clearly see that what we call the body is nothing more than a chaise for consciousness. This consciousness is broader than we realize. We are all extensions of a vast consciousness and we are the nodes or little fruits of a cosmic web of infinite or boundless consciousness. This includes all life . We are ever present in all living things and have been from the inception of the universe and will evolve into a super consciousness aka God before starting over in another cycle I believe. Our ego fools us into thinking in very limited and small terms . That aspect is probably part of the filter. A necessary element for earthly evolution but some of us are chosen for this higher purpose to be messengers and guides for all the others . We are a special family who are here and have had these experiences. 😇😇😇 thank you for such a great video

@@ModernIntuitionist my pleasure. We really are all on the journey together. I really think these experiences are meant for us to share with the rest of mankind in order to awaken them from the narrow vision we all at some point suffer from. Many beautiful synchronicities having occurred, had my mother and father visit me, very powerful as well as having had my dear beloved deceased pets visit me also. Love your channel, very uplifting and comforting! 👼 👼👼👼👼

😇 A dark shadow held my hand. The perspective was totally wrong, the person holding my hand was quite a way in front and was quite small in the distance, but non-the-less this person was leading me by the hand. The place was spheres of purple on the outside and golden-yellow in the core.... towards where I was being lead. I remember a feeling of total peace. I was absolutely calm and bliss comes to mind.... I was in awe of this place and did not feel at all scared. It felt like absolute love. It slowly faded away as I could hear my name being called and as I looked back it all disolved. I came back to this physical world. I felt at that time that there is something else, but the feeling of absolute peace made me realise the stress and drama of this world that seems to be constant. I didn't see anyone there apart from this shadowy figure....

I’m totally on board with the Filter model of the brain. I had a brain haemorrhage 10 years ago (tomorrow coincidentally!) and one of the things I have, as have others in a similar situation, are broken filters. Literally get overloaded by everyday things because everything is as important as everything else which is exhausting or can be. It’s a blessing now as I see it. Forever changed as many have also said. Massive perspective shift

I love to see this. I know it is not a hoax, for I have also had an NDE, allthough not that beautiful,and it is so long ago that I cannot remember much details. What I do remember quite vividly is that I was sorry to have to come back, and I felt this world a «dark» place compared to where I had been. I was maybe 5, and now I am 72. Death is nothing to fear. ❤😊

I enjoyed this so much. I am not a scientist, I only know what ive learnt from my automatic writing and it was all about unconditional love. I am now a messenger for this. I felt how it all tied in. I feel the connectedness but not the vibrancy of colour. Truly beautiful to listen to. ✨😇❤️

I wouldn't call what I had a full NDE but parts do make sense. Long story short was I was in a car accident as a kid that launched me 30 ft down the street. It was soo bad they drew a chalk outline since they weren't sure I'd make it. while in the ambulance out cold, I was met by people who had passed before me. Specifically my mother and grandmother, both comforted me and after a while said i needed to go back. That's when i woke up face down in the ambulance, at the time they did this to not hurt my spine. Thankfully except for a gash that was sewed and a concussion I hadn't broken anything. You tell me, I sure do believe in the after life. 👼

I haven't had an NDE experience, but something happened to me that opened my eyes to the concept of an existence beyond this material world. I was in a car accident with my young children. It was a rollover that blew the windows out and my car came to rest upside down with the roof crushed in. People pulled my children out thru the windows but I was trapped in the driver's seat with my hand very painfully stuck. I heard people saying the kids were alright, and they were sitting nearby. Then I heard them say that gas was leaking from car. I switched from thinking about the hand pain to thinking about how if I was to die in flames, I must not make a single sound. I didn't want my kids to be further traumatized. While coping with what I must do, I suddenly got a sense of being on the edge of a swift flowing river and I was hanging onto a branch. I felt myself being pulled into the current. I was afraid to let go of that branch as I didn't want to leave my children, and yet, the river's call was so compelling. Suddenly, my focus switched to having a really strong sense that someone or something was right behind me in the back seat of my car. It was very, very scary and made me forget everything else. It was so real. I think every hair on my body stood up. Eventually, I was rescued, but I was definitely not the same person afterwards. Some may say I had PTSD, which no doubt I probably did, but I know with certainty that whatever I experienced in that car was more than trauma and has stayed with me even 30 years later. Since that accident, l like I am bound by a thread to another existence that leaves me a little out of step with this material world.

Wow, that is absolutely astonishing, E James. I'm glad to hear that you and your children were safe. It certainly sounds like you encountered a divine presence. I've also read of a number of accounts of NDEs where experiencers describe having incredible clarity and quick lucid thinking in moments of crisis that helped them survive (which is not what you'd expect if these events were "hallucinations" like skeptics say they are). In any case it's a wonderful reminder that every moment we have with our loved ones is precious. Thank you for taking the time to share your story, and happy holidays to you and yours!

👼👼👼 No NDE for me, but when I was 12 or 13 I took an afternoon nap and had a sensation of pure love, acceptance and belonging. It wasn't very visual, except for a field of a crimson red colour that was textured. I remember waking up feeling amazing. I didn't think of it again for many years, but after having been on this journey of awakening for a while now, it has taken on additional meaning, like I understand now what I was connecting with in the dream. Thank you for your videos, by the way, they are amazing, and I'm glad they are here to help people on their journeys.

When I was younger probably around 8 years old I had a bike accident and I was in a coma I think they told me for 48 hours. When I woke up I didn't really remember much of anything and even to this day I don't remember much. My adopted father stayed with me the whole time. I don't believe this was a near-death experience but maybe I tapped into something I don't know. I love your videos but I am one of those skeptical people that have a hard time believing and this unconditional love. I have it for my kids and my grandkids and even my pets. But sometimes the world seems like a very violent and ugly place and it's hard for me to move past that but anyway thanks for another great video! 👼

As a medical driver, I am often on the road 8+ hours per day. I'd been listening to Dr. Alexander's (audio) book, and after dropping off a passenger, I resumed listening. I was driving through a forest on the way to Flagstaff when Dr. Alexander narrated the part when he'd received a photo of his deceased younger sister who he'd never seen before. Staring at her photo he realized that it was she who greeted him heaven four months before. I was so taken by the connection, I almost had to pull over and ponder it for several minutes! Also, in the last five years I had two patients/passengers tell me about their NDE's. Both very believable out of body experiences.

Amazing video, topic, and break down. Your animation choices are so comforting. My Dog died 3 days ago and I’m absolutely destroyed devastated and heartbroken. I haven’t eaten I’m not sleeping. It’s been extremely hard for me and I don’t feel that I have anymore chapters to add to my book of life this lifetime. I would really like it if you could do a video that touches on our pets. A lot of NDE’s have mentioned seeing pets on the other side and they also mention that when they see their pets they can consciously understand them or hear their pets asking them questions telepathically. Also family members who were present when loved ones were dying said their loved one was seeing their family pet next to their bed side days before dying. I believe Sometimes our pets can guide us to transition to the after life. Anyway thank you for your work. You are making a difference in a lot of peoples lives. God bless you

What are some of your favourite works to look at and or read? Maybe for inspiration or to help better understand our experience. 3. Do you have any other platform such as Instagram where we can follow you? Thanks again and I hope to see you upload more and more. 👼

Hello Sukhwinder, those are great questions, and I might expand on them in a future video if there is interest. To answer your questions: 1. It was one of my professors in university who was very enthusiastic about these topics and didn't take the usual 'materialist' worldview that most of my other professors did. That was the beginning of my investigation into these areas, including synchronicity, near death experiences, intuition, and divination. 2. Some of the authors that really sparked my interest in this area are Carl Jung, Alan Watts, and Terrence McKenna. A film I really enjoyed early on was Richard Linklater's "Waking Life." I'm drawn to all kinds of art and creativity. 3. I do have an instagram which you can find on the top right corner of my KZbin channel page (on my banner). I have had similar experiences, however mine wasn't a near death experience. I had very vivid experiences after my husband died in a car wreck. I was in another realm with him, it is hard to put into human words. I felt this experience was his way of telling me good bye. We just felt each others energy. It was amazing! It changed my whole life!

Hi Lanie 🤗Sorry for your dear Husband. I suppose you must have been closed during his time life. May his soul rest in a beautiful and lovely place 🙏💕have you seen him in another form or just felt energy. Of course i guess it’s maybe impossible to translate in human words. Did it happen long time ago ? And how many times it happens??

@@christinebethencourt6197 thank you! He died almost 20 years ago but the "dreams" that I had seem as if they just happened. I remember that we seemed to be floating, he showed me that he was wearing his overalls so that I could recognize him I guess. We were just "energy" that have always none each other. We spoke telepathically a few words but we didn't need to communicate other than just being with one another. I knew that this was his way of saying good bye. Angels were lined up singing only for us. The "music" was beyond beautiful, it was indescribable. This all happened as I was in bed asleep, all of a sudden we were together, time stood still. I had a few vivid "dreams" like this. Our kids had similar experiences not long after he died.

When I was around 7 years old, I was struck in the head with a golf club. Not by an adult. It was by my friend. His twin brother was there too. I had never seen golf before. I had no idea how we swung a club. My friend (8-9 years old) took a swing. I don't remember much more than that. I know that the club struck like 2cm away from my temple and that there was blood instantly covering my face. The gash went straight down to the bone. My mom was freaking out but driving us rapidly to the hospital. My mom called my dad. He was unconvinced of the seriousness of the injury and the need to go to the hospital. More on that later. A doctor needed to numb the area or apply some sort of painkiller. They had to stick a large needle right into the side of my temple and eye. My dad's wisdom to comfort me was to encourage me to scream as loud as I could while the doctor applied the needle. I remember being put unconscious for the operation. I am not exactly sure what they had to do. This comes to the latter part of my story. I never got a post-incident check-up. In high school. I foolishly ran into a wall while jumping for a football. For some reason, my gym teacher thought it would be a good idea to play football inside a small gymnasium. I went unconscious. I don't remember how long. I was told. I just don't remember. This brings me to the last part of my story: My memory. I lost my memory / I had problems creating memories... I still haven't gotten my brain scanned. More on that soon. From the age of 7-22 a bunch of very necessary things happened. I won't go into them. In moments of desperation I slowly started receiving insights from the universe. Then... meditation found me. around the age of 24. The effects of it have been profound. In all emotional capacities. It revealed things to me. You learn to center yourself and become grounded and balanced: physically, emotionally and spiritually. I am 25 now. I am out here, in this world with you, trying to feel love, gratitude, inspiration, joy and life. You are not alone. When you're feeling a lack, meditate and open your consciousness. Feel the vibrations around you. Connect with others in that realm. Learn to let Love guide you. It will feel hard. I am still a novice. I am still trying to find it in its purity. However, I know it is out there. I believe. When you find a chunk of Love's light, remember to embrace it and feel gratitude for it. Bring that emotion out and feel whole. Let it heal you like it's healing my brain and body. Let your dreams of such inspiring realities become true for you by thought alone. - Mack

Thank you, beautiful job of condensing his story faithfully, I’ve read his book. Good job. You might have mentioned his 9 year old son screaming at his bedside to wake up just before they gave him a massive dose of antibiotics as a last desperate attempt to kill the infection before they pulled the plug on his oxygen. You might mention that he was out of control dangerous for several days after awakening hitting everyone in bursts of anger before he regained himself. But these are quibbles. Nice film.

I love hearing about NDE's. There are many that I've heard of that involve moving towards a circle of light and into a hole where their loved ones are waiting for them and feeling extreme peacefulness. I can't help but think of the mysteries of a black hole. The event horizon being the light. The strong gravitational pull of the black hole leading their energy/consciousness towards the centre, which is the singularity. Where no physical bodies or humans will know. I think this mystery is where we go to when we die. Crossing the event horizon, through the portal and into the other dimension. Only our souls/energy/consciousness can cross it. 👼

It was the trauma of being hit by an suv while riding my bike. The last memory I had was trying to pick myself off the road.. I was airlifted to a Trauma hspital in Boston. I remember that after coming out of multiple surgeries i had seen a surgeon facing back to me rubbing the back of his neck but I could not speak. I had envisioned myself with a crowd of people reaching for Jesus who was being led into a Gate of Jerusalem at Passover, they were yelling Hosanna over and over again reaching for Jesus I stood in the crowd of people wanting to see the eyes of Jesus because I wanted to know he saw me and felt what was in my heart an overwhelming love. I felt that my soul was being weighed and there was a fight for dark or light to follow him and not be cast aside to the darkness.. I awakened several days later feeling exhausted but alive with a kinder and loving respect for life ." Do unto others " more money, faster cars,, bigger houses can not compare to the true meaning of love.

Thank you, that video is what I needed to see. I'm facing very impossible odds right now and this video was suggested when I turned my laptop on. I haven't had an NDE but had one spiritual experience. As far as further evidence of life after death, I suggest a few things. I watched a filmmaker on KZbin, Dan Bell and one of his friends introduced the whole topic of ghost hunting. The stuff Dan and his friend Rick did led me to watch more of these paranormal videos. I was initially dismayed by a few obvious fake ghost videos. Yes, you have to sort them, especially the ones on KZbin. However, there are a few channels on KZbin that are good for showing stuff it would be impossible to fake. I've been conditioned to be a skeptic, so I'm always going over what I see with a fine tooth comb. I began watching Nuke's Top 5 since the operator of this KZbin channel does make an effort to show things that are least likely to be fake. He always does a disclaimer, encouraging people to make up their own minds, which I respect. It was eye-opening, especially considering that many of the videos he picks were posted online by people with KZbin channels that have nothing to do with ghosts. These random events in normal people's lives are what's worth looking at, not the "professional" ghost hunter fare, since those people have a stake in being "creative." I also think the KZbin channel, "Really Haunted," shows much that would be near impossible to fake. The man doing this owns pets and they react to what paranormal activity happens in his home. These are just my thoughts, make your own mind up about these things.

Thanks for the recommendations, Nicole! As the saying goes "the universe isn't just stranger than we imagine, it's stranger than we CAN imagine." I believe the paranormal fits in this category, and I've witnessed too many strange happenings not to take it seriously. I appreciate you!

My hubby went to the grand canyon and him and his brother went past the wall onto the rocks by edge of the canyon. His brother had a panic attack so he stood inbetween both rocks so his brother could make his way back to safety. His brother accidentally pushed him while he jumped across out of fear..then my hubby said he was falling back swinging his arms trying to catch himself and right before he fell, he felt two hands push against his back bringing him back to balance on his feet. That day he would have fell down the canyon and i wouldnt have him in my life.

If what you state in this video is true - and I believe it - it raises several questions for me. 1) Do people who carry out truly evil crimes in this life (e.g. Hitler) still feel the same unrequited love in the next life? 2) You talk about where our souls go to in the next life, but where did we come from? Is there a previous life as well? Anyway, your videos are fantastic. Thank you for your efforts.
@ModernIntuitionist
@ModernIntuitionist Жыл бұрын
Hello Streptomyces, those are great questions! A lot of the NDE literature shows that many experience what's called a "life review" where they re-experience many of the events of their lives, and many also describe seeing and feeling things from other people's perspectives. For example, in my last video the case of Tom Sawyer explains how he felt the pain he inflicted on others during his life review in a very visceral way. It's a tough question, but I do ultimately believe we are all connected, and people who carry out great harm in this lifetime will come to understand the consequences of the harm they caused, and it's also one of the implications of having free will. The question of where we come from is also a fascinating topic on its own, and may deserve its own video in the future. But briefly, there are also many accounts of people who give detailed descriptions of past lives they've had, for example. Thanks so much for your kind words and support! You're so welcome, and big love to you and yours.

I’ll be starting my journey tomorrow morning towards becoming an ascended being with the aid of a psychedelic experience. Language is a system like us, which has and will continue to evolve as we do. Many of us find it challenging to read Shakespeare even though categorically it is still English. Words and even ideas evolve over years, centuries and even generations. I think words like atheist, believer and even the concept of God is are a reflection of our current understanding and limitations of what we think of is reality. This might be controversial but in my experience nearly all large religious institutions are run like a businesses sometimes even nations on to themselves with their own private financial institutions with the difference being the product they sell are emotions and community. There’s nothing wrong with that. Many find meaning and growth through these products and systems. But often like everything else it is often abused by those within them. Take the case of Catholic priests and the abuse that they had done on innocent children. There are many many more cases of many religions institutions abusing the power the accumulate as a result of the businesses they operate, but are intentionally hidden or silenced, as that’s bad marketing and diminishes the power they currently hold. Religions institutions were the original government institutions designed to organize and manage other human beings. The seeds they all grew from, no matter how different they look now, as they have evolved like languages over the centuries, are nearly the same. The founders of the religions, nearly all of them, from Jesus, Mohammad, Buddha, Krishna, Odin, and Thor to were all preaching LOVE, because they had accessed transcended states of being where they saw, experienced and even learned from a different state of reality. Psychedelics is one way to access those states, but it can also be reached via near death experiences, meditation, certain forms of yoga and even some forms of prayer. I think people should be cautious of gate keepers that preach they are the only path towards these states and they have to give x, y and z or even change their behaviors drastically, that mainly benefits them, do get there. The moment you find that you are taught and conditioned to act on HATE in its various forms, that’s your cue to RUN or even bring them down as the reporters that shed light on the abuse of the Catholic priests did. I’m excited and a bit nervous what I’ll experience and learn though my psychedelic experience. One thing is most likely as many who have gone through those experiences can tell you, we are all surround by an energy of LOVE! 😇

Beautifully said, as always, my friend. The message of love, peace, and connection are so ancient and at the centre of every spiritual tradition.
