Hey Wes! I love what you do! I've heard of you from many Christian KZbinrs channels, such as Mike Winger. I'm a Ukrainian immigrant to America, and I became a born again Christian in America. I used to be a short term missionary work in the Eastern Ukraine Donbass warzone! I now do full time ministry and evangelism at the university of Arizona and i share the gospel and do open air Preaching. I also teach churches, businesses and groups of believers in Apologetics and how to share the gospel, and take them out to the streets to evangelize! I heard your testimony and I was so amazed at what God has done through you!! I also am a KZbin creator and i make Christian evangelism videos and apologetics videos! I would love to interview you or come on your channel, and talk about apologetics and our testimonies! I also used to be a college track athlete, I was a Decathlete!! So i think we would have much to relate to together!! God bless you man. I look forward to hearing from you!

One of the biggest errors in most English translations is the continued use of the unscriptural word "church". 99% of Pastor's will tell you that the Greek word for church is ekklesia. But if you look in your Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words you will find ekklesia has been translated as both "assembly" and "congregation". They are synonymous terms. But when you look under the heading "church" you will find no correlating Greek word listed below. Why? Because the actual Greek word for church is kuriakos/kuriakon, a Greek word that is not found in ANY Greek manuscript of the New Testament in reference to the follower's of Yeshua the Messiah. It's just not there! And when I talked in person to the leading Greek scholar at Pensacola Christian College (rabid KJV Only!) he admitted that the word "church" was used only for "theological matters". When he realized that I had cornered him into this admission, he quickly retreated to his office! The "theological matter" this Greek scholar was referring to is foundational to Christianity (universal) as well as Christian Identity (denominational distinctions) as the word "church" is used in juxtaposition to Israel. Regardless of whether it's Supersessionism (i.e. Replacement Theology- the Church supersedes and replaces Israel) or Dispensational Theology (Church and Israel), the use of the word "church" conceptually created a false dichotomy that can be generalized in the following way: OT/Jews/Israel/Law/Bad VS NT/Gentiles/Church/Grace/Good However, the view that the "church" is a separate and distinct entity from Israel falls apart when one realizes that the Septuagint/LXX translated the Hebrew word qahal, which was used appropriately 98X in reference to those who were "called out" from Egypt (i.e. Israel), with the Greek word ekklesia. Seeing that the Septuagint was completed around 132 BCE, the hellenized Israelites/Jews in the Greek-speaking synagogues would have identified themselves as the Ekklesia (Gk. Assembly/Congregation). And so when we come into the New Testament and see this same Greek word ekklesia being used in reference to the same people group, what are we to conclude other than they are one and the same! The Ekklesia in the OT is the same Ekklesia as in the NT. They are both Israel! The fact that Paul writes in Romans 9 through 11 that some, not all, Israelites have been cut off because of unbelief in the Messiah and that Gentiles are being "grafted in" doesn't change the fact that they are identified as Israel or as Paul puts it "...the Israel of God"(Gal.6:16). Christians desperately need to come to grips with their true identity in the Torah-observant Torah-teaching Rabbi, Yeshua HaMashiach!

At 9:20 you say the early christian communities were dominantely female. As far as I know, the modern gender gap in Christianity came much later. Do you have any additional info on that?
@WesHuff
@WesHuff 9 ай бұрын
There are a few ways we can tease this out. We know from a few written sources within the 2nd/3rd centuries that discuss the demographic disparity within the genders along with the fact that Celsus specially describes the Christian movement as that of “slaves and women,” due to its habit of giving agency and advocacy for those two groups. Pliny the Y. when investigating the movement of early Christianity specifically interrogates two female slaves who operated as deaconesses. Although there were key male figures within the leadership, a number of sources when commenting on Christianity within this early period note the strangeness of so many females being part of the group and religious life of the church.

Actually, the 73 books are specific to Catholic and Orthodox traditions, while the 66-book Protestant Bible follows the Hebrew canon of the Old Testament. The additional books in the Catholic Bible, called the Deuterocanonical books (e.g., Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch, and 1 & 2 Maccabees), are considered questionable by Protestants for several reasons. First, these books were not part of the Jewish Scriptures, which were finalized in the 1st century AD. Protestants argue that if the Jewish community, who authored the Old Testament, did not recognize them as Scripture, neither should Christians. Second, many of these books were written in Greek rather than Hebrew, which raises doubts about their authenticity and connection to the Jewish canon. Third, some teachings in these books are seen as inconsistent with the rest of Scripture. For example, 2 Maccabees 12:44-46 promotes prayers for the dead, a concept not supported elsewhere in the Bible, and Tobit 12:9 suggests almsgiving can atone for sin, conflicting with the New Testament's emphasis on salvation by grace through faith. Additionally, these books lack clear claims of divine inspiration, such as the prophetic authority seen in other Old Testament writings, and 1 Maccabees even acknowledges that prophetic voices had ceased during the time it was written (1 Maccabees 9:27). While some early church fathers like Augustine accepted these books, others, like Jerome (translator of the Latin Vulgate), considered them valuable for moral teachings but not as inspired Scripture. The Catholic Church formally affirmed these books at the Council of Trent (1545-1563) in response to the Protestant Reformation, which rejected them. Protestants continue to align their Old Testament with the 39 books of the Hebrew Bible, viewing the Deuterocanonical books as useful but not divinely inspired.

Would love to see the same session format but talking about the Old Testament. My understanding is that the oral tradition was not written down until the Greeks forced the Jews to ascribe authorship to their scripture in the Hellenistic era, hence why we might have to Hebrew translated from Greek for Old Testament?

Yes we can trust that scripture is still accurate today. It's a pretty lengthy study in its entirety but if you question this like I did go get yourself a Briggs Brown driver Hebrew Greek Lexicon and just translate for yourself. My ESV student Study Bible is almost literally word for word with a more accurate translation of the original languages then the KJV Bible that I've used my whole life❤🎉

Wes is a facts presenter. I can relate. We are only to teach what we can prove. The Pharisee were theologians. Billy Carson on the other hand stated among other silly statements, that you couldn't get 8 billion people in the time span between Adam and Eve and today. Did some research and 200 years ago there were only two billion people on the planet. Now as far as the Bible goes. Neither the word, the concept or a prophecy exist in the pages of scripture. Scripture and scriptures is found over 50 times. For many years now they've taught that Paul stating all scriptures givin for a reason means that God gave us a single book. The first century Christians did not have a Bible. Political world figures like King James do not decide what is scripture and what isn't. I do like doing word search with the KJV. However it was written with a literal physical bias. Peter never said we needed to be baptized in water with the name Jesus chanted over us. Filled with the holy Spirit what Peter actually stated is to be baptized into the name of Jesus Christ.INTO. because there's no other name under heaven and Earth by which a man might be saved. The water baptism rituals absolutely pagan just like when a witch stord a cauldron and chants words. Did Paul the apostle to the gentiles believe in water baptism? He thanked God the only water baptized a few. 1st Corinthians 1. One of the least quoted verses by fundamental Christians. Trust the scripture not theologians . Also read acts 21 and see that the followers of James wanted to kill Paul the apostle for teaching the psychological truth of Grace by faith.

Hi Wes, great presentation. I do have a question regarding the word “Jew” in the bible. It has been my understanding that that particular word was added for nefarious purposes to mislead. Can you address this please? I am thoroughly enjoying this presentation. Thank you

Most people like the ESV, English Standard Version, because it's literal and readable. The same can be said for the NASB version. Both are great bibles to read, hear, and study. After you are familiar with the whole Bible (after many readings, 5 maybe?), try to read the Young's Literal Translation (New Testament) for an English read closer to the original Greek, but it is more difficult to read.
