Once I saw the older Newells, I have just about given up on Foretravel, if I'm going to pay that much for an older RV, I want to be surrounded with decadence, but some of the older special order Newells still comand over 200K way out of my price range, but the WOW FACTOR will knock you dead, the attention to detail, and over the top syling, is what makes these coaches so desirable, especially for the well maintained ones. Newell will also take your older Newell coach, and do whatever that you want to it, from a reapaint, to totally new interior, they are a full service manufacturer, that can keep your coach on the road, probably for longer than you. I hope I can find a good one, wish me luck.

Oh, by the way, I did find a Safari Continental Elite 40 foot no slide, it was either pretty nice from the factory, or someone has done a remodel on it, the inside looks great, the paint job on the all aluminum body is dated, but that's what I do. The price seemed fair, until I started researching, sounds like they have brake issues, dash AC issues, just like the Fortravel, and can have water damage, if not properly maintained, also people were say that the front end floated due to the generator being mounted by the engine, bad weight transfer. I'd never heard of them until the other day. I could make that one look cool, but if it's not a good combination, I will keep searching for an old Newell.

Fantastic video, as usual. I've never seen the Newell air doors actually demonstrated. People mention the air doors but it was nice to actually see them in operation. I would recommend that you pull the slides in for a minute during reviews to show viewers what the interior space looks like while traveling. I've been shopping for a 97-2000 Newell, and am leaning toward a non-side 97 because of lower initial cost, less weight, and less complexity. But the main reason is the extra room for the family while actually driving. We will be mobile more often than we will be stationary. Thanks again for the nice review. Take Care.

Nice review on this coach! Newell's have always impressed me and if I didn't already have a Foretravel, I would have opted for a Newell. Their late 90 to early 2000's were some of the best before pre DEF. The 60 series is by far one of the best engines ever made. I do like my 450 Cummins, but the 60 was just in another class! Very easy to work on and service as well. Keep up the great reviews on these older coaches. Going on 10 years full time!

Good job on the video. It’s nice to see how a quality older coach compares to a newer one. Pros and cons of the engine, basement a/c, ( I didn’t know was a thing). The hidden features that were added, curtain, t-stat, shows the design and build of the unit. Please keep the mix of tech & these older units coming.

my aunt and uncle had a 05? newell.it had a cat 3176 CC which was a great choice it got like 14 mpg .it was stunning.they built a new garage for it . it was their retirement rig. I am only seen it once just before they had a caravan of new rvs to a family reunion in illinois. then it spent the next year in the shop. it was a electrical nightmare. witch included the generator even the lights. they had lawsuits and it finally was returned under the lemon law in Washington. but I remember it it was fancy and seemed well put together except for the electrical system and the cat 3176 was a great under my rated motor had one in a truck it got 9 mpg city pulling a gvw of 105500 . my other trucks got 7 mpg. I actually thought about getting one when I seen theirs until the breakdowns.

The ceramic sinks are more stain-resistant than the Corian, probably why they did that. It seems like the high water mark for many things were the late 1990's- or that just because I'm old? That rear closet could become another cabin for kids.

@timsteinkamp22453 жыл бұрын
In my opinion nothing after the slides has improved motor homes. My first that my dad bought was a 72 Champion 28' which slept 8. We went around the US and to Mexico City in it. I own a 98 Monaco Windsor 36' wall slide. It is perfect. I thought you would say the tub needed a place to sit. I like basement AC. My dual pane windows have failed though. Considering the low miles most get I think a electric motor home may be the next real improvement. I would like to try one out. Cover that roof in solar panels.
@craigkdillon3 жыл бұрын
Basement A/C has a few really important benefits, IMO. 1. With no roof penetrations, the roof will insulate a lot better. 2. With no roof penetrations - you have a cleaner roof -- GREAT for SOLAR PANELS ! ! ! When I get my motorhome, I intend on installing 3,000 to 4,000 watts of solar panels, using linear actuators to tilt them automatically. Seems to me that basement A/C is the only way to go, to do what I want to do.

I wanted to compare my 98 Country Coach Magna 1 slide to this 98 Newell which was likely the very best personal coach of the time. This demo helped but I realised when checking NADA values, you cant even find Newell. I believe Newell also tries to control the resale of most of their products. I also couldnt find on my quick search what it went for new. I have a comporable coach WO the tag, not quite as fancy inside but mine was pretty slick back in the day too. Anyone know what that sold for new? I love looking at new and older rvs, pure Americana! Current is brilliant.

Been looking at a 2002 Safari 32 with 43K and the 370 diesel. Tires are 2016 as is the last real service. Starts quickly, drives, generator low hours. What bothers me is the service costs on this unit. You can see the engine through a panel in the bathroom but in the rear all you see is radiators. They want $40K but I see $10 in tires, service, and whatever is unforeseen. Some de lamination is noticeable. What do you think?
