for short trips around town it's my preferred car. but it sucks on expressways, the aero isn't good coz it's a box so there's wind noise, roof rack noise, and m/t tire noise. not to mention engine noise coz it's a 4spd so RPM is over 3000 at 100kph. needless to say it's not fuel efficient at highway speeds

You missed the point. The car is a proper 4x4. It's meant to tackle your weekend adventures on the roads less travelled. It's a grown ass men's toy not your ordinary grocery getter. It's like saying your mtb is too slow for the pavement.
