These work fantastically well, i can manufacture parts in my shed, make sure it all goes together.... break it down such that it fits in the van then finish assemble on site. No glue... no mess with glue.... quick and brilliant

You should draw a white line down that black side for the centering indicators. It would be much easier to align if the centerline went all the way down to the workpiece.

Handy Tip for those running the smaller Makita plunge routers (RT0700c and the cordless equiv, DRT50): The peanut router bits come in an 8mm shank option and Makita makes an 8mm collet for it's 1/4" plunge routers. The part number is 763618-5.

I'm sure I'm late to the party which is why I'm binge watching all the videos, life kicked me in the groonies. As for the jig, it's interesting for sure, now everyone can have the power of building Ikea furniture kits which is honestly quite intriguing. Now the door... take off all the hardware and take it to your courtyard, put it up against a well, secure it, and add hanging planters to it... you could do something interesting like French cleats which would give you the option of arranging the planters as you see fit. Love watching your videos and can't wait to see more... looks like there's a couple more for me to watch tonight :)

I've been running a Peanut 2 Mini Jig for about 18 months, and even though I have a Domino DF500, this still gets used, particularly when I want knock down mitre joints. My only gripe with the jig is the clamping. If you have a router with a big base then clamps can get in the way. Also no real way to clamp the jig in the middle of a mitre joint, so one has to use the screw holes to fasten to the mitred edge. This takes a little more time, and if one isn't careful to centre the screws they can wander and pull the jig out of alignment to the mitred face. Overall though, great jig! Thanks for the vid!

I love what this jig can do. Please do a strength test on all three of these especially the peanut. Because I love making things I can take apart for moving purposes or storing w the smallest footprint possible.

I've never seen the plunge mechanism on the Triton router in action. That seems really intuitive and smooth working. I may have to go with that brand when I upgrade to a 3hp router.

The Tritons have a reputation for being top-heavy. They're great in router tables, from what I've seen, and that's really what they're made for. For handheld work, the Hitachi one has been great for me over the years and I can recommend it.

A little to much set-up time for me. I have a Jessem doweling jig and a Domino machine already but for the home shop and hobbiest I think the jig would be a good choice. Good job demoing it.

Interesting jig. I don't do any production work, so for me John Heisz settled how to do dowels recently using only painter's tape for layout & it is brilliant. Jigs may speed things up a bit, but John's method is almost free. Check it out

Pretty cool jig, looks very decent! And a very good review of it, Jean! I'm not smart enough to understand why the bush insert can't have the insert in the middle instead of being off set... That would greatly decrease the chance of user error while setting up + using it. Shame that the fence is fixed also, if that would have been adjustable for various thicknesses of wood that would be even better!

The bush insert has to be off-centre so that the peanuts can slot together. It can be tricky, so to avoid confusing myself I make little keyhole shaped marks on the board I'm inserting peanuts into to remind me which side to offset the hole towards.

Great concept and the jig should probably should be simplified a little more. I’d definitely get the loose mortising jig without the other options if it was available. Maybe they should have each individual jig for each type of joinery, including hardware like bushing and router bit. I don’t believe it’s offered in the U.S. and I don’t know how much it is. Keep searching for alternatives to dominoes.

I understand the concept of the peanut fastener and while it would useful in certain situations, but it appears it would be the weakest of the three. Overtime, assembling and disassembling anything made with the peanut joint seems the joint would become loose as the wood itself wouldn’t be strong enough for the repeated movement. Although would work well for it’s intended purpose, I wouldn’t use it to permanently join two pieces of wood. The other joints are straight forward and widely used. As far as strength, the domino is the winner. Although your presentation was awesome, you didn’t inform us how long it took to complete the setup, including the measurements and drawing of your alignment lines. The mortise/tenon might be a substitute for the very expensive Festool Domino, although this jig doesn’t look like it can create mortises on angles, but if the stock is thick enough, you could probably double stack mortises for extra strength. I’m just wondering how much time it takes from start to finish which would dictate if this jig is worth buying for someone that uses mortise/tenon joints. Using this jig for dowels is overly complicated, so I’d stick with the tool you typically use, or just about any other method out there. Thank you for the review. The Batman shape of this is almost worth buying as it. Hmm, I wonder if this is trademark infringement? I live in the states and there is no USD price so assume it isn’t sold here. Oh wait, I found it here but it’s $300+. That’s an expensive jig, but other jigs that cut mortises are about the same. Cheaper than a Festool Domino by far, and it makes three joints, but too expensive for my budget.

I would say with a fair amount of certainty, I would not buy this. It needs some work. Those indexing ticks/guide marks need to be carried down the edge of the jig. The jig is thick. Seems like it would be challenging to line up. Also, I'm sure I would lose one of the components over time. If the jig was clear acrylic...that would be better.

Great review as always. This jig and its purposes is not for me. I do use dowels or biscuits on occasion and use a biscuits cutter and a simple dowel jig for alignment. The pieces I make as well as my shop used traditional joints, dovetail, tenons, rabbits, etc. I prefer screws, but have used nails for smaller projects where appropriate. This is not a cheap jig, along with the special bit needed, assorted extras, and specialized pins is not worth its over all costs. Personally, I think the "Ikea" type of furniture fails after a period of time. Joints loosen and the item can fall apart. I prefer for my woodworking to make items that last and can be handed down generation to generation. Sometimes with easier, and faster methods you lose quality which is not how I was taught in the traditional sense. We have become a throw away society, with the introduction of plastics , it has created a lot of environmental issues. So much added clutter and much less quality in the tools used today has lead to over all poor quality, especially in the tools we are offered today. No modern plain is worth $500 or $600 and higher. If it was a rare antique tool, that would be different. People get to caught up in I want what others have, and that envy leads to debt.

You did a great video describing the jig. That being said, the only reason they do not include additional items for the end user to use is price. At $131US plus plus PLUS, it adds up to a very expensive jig that if you search the tube, there are many alternatives. If you are IKEA, then it may be good for you. Personally, for me, thumbs down! !! !!!
