Is this better? Neat Microphones King Bee 2 vs Shure SM7B - Affordable vs awesome?

Very nice review, and you have a great voice. Since getting my King Bee 2 I no longer have microphone envy. I have it on the Elgato low profile boom arm, which gets out of the way nicely when I don't need it and swings right back to perfect position when I need to record.

Condenser mics are superior imo in audio quality. Dynamics has better background negation.

Just bought the bee II to replace my rode nt usb mic. Should be a great upgrade.

They both sound awesome, but seems to me you should be able to keep the King Bee 2 a bit further away considering it's a condensor. Even in the video the bass from your voice is much more noticeable on the King Bee, almost to the point of it becoming muddled, but not quite there yet. I think another 5-10 cm away and that'll be the sweet spot.

Hi! I could use some help! After watching many reviews, I decided to go with this mic, but I'm very confused, because I feel like it's picking up WAY more sound than it should be...if that makes sense, lol. This is my first experience with an XLR mic, and I have it connected to a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd gen. The gain knob is right at the halfway point. I have the mic positioned at the corner of my mouth and about 6 inches away. I'm using the included shock mount and pop filter. So far, I've just tested it out using Voicemeeter, no added filters or anything. It really picks up a lot of mouth noise, breathing, swallowing, clothes/body shuffling, ambient noise, etc. I know condenser mics are more sensitive to this, but I didn't notice these issues in any of the reviews I watched, even ones with no filters or post-processing used. Does this sound like there could be an issue with the mic, itself, or something else in my setup, perhaps? Thanks!

hey! I know this was a while ago, you may have fixed the problem i dont know, but i suggest using a noise gate, i believe equalizer apo has a global noise gate for all apps and etc.

@@latespringtime Thanks for the reply! I do have various filters on it that help a lot, particularly ones from iZotope RX Elements. I did try equalizer, which is great for a free option, but iZotope handles the noise much better! :) I just wasn't expecting it to be so intense, given that I didn't hear those issues with anyone else I watched. 😅

I've been using the Neat Worker Bee (the first model) for well over a year now and it's a fantastic mic. Overall, I'm very impressed by the quality of my mic, so I hold Neat in high regard and have no doubts about this mic either! Take that with a pinch of salt though, I'm no audio fanatic, but Neewer and Yeti mics were astoundingly terrible IMO back when I was looking for a mic. It makes me wonder why so many streamers used them 😄

Yeah I might have to try the other Neat mics at some point. The Blue Yeti mics are ok if you tweak them and have a good environment, plus affordable and plug and play but I think many use them because of good marketing.

@@TheProvokedPrawn Ah, I mistakenly thought the Snowball was also from Blue's Yeti lineup, but it was the Snowball I first heard from Blue and also what gave me the negative impression really 😅 I do recall hearing some Blue Yeti mics that were okay. Great review though! I'm usually a quiet lurker, but certainly enjoy your videos. You helped me make my decision on buying both the Audeeze Penrose and the Secretlabs chair ☺

Yeti has imo good sound. Probably better than Shure SM7b. There is huge hype around sm7b. Only thing that sm7b does better is background negation. I dont know why so many ppl hate Yeti.
