Great review Anthony. I have quite a few fireflies and would say overall I've been really lucky. I've had to do some setup work but nothing major. Still at 200 bucks even if you had to throw another 200 at it I would say if it's inspiring to play then it's definitely worth it. I appreciate your honest assessment and look forward to future videos.

Great playing, great review, great length of the video. I think most people with a bit of KZbin viewing can figure out how to fix the frets, but some folks who are scared to ruin their guitar might not want to try. I have two firefly guitars so far, and have been blessed. No issues with any of them. The pickups can be a bit microphonic, but I don't use a lot of gain.

My Firefly experience...I did NOT even finish unloading it from the shipping box. Stopbar was tearing away from the wood...I certainly hope they did not box up knowingly like that...called Guitars Garden and emailed, bottom line they don't believe much in customer service. You gave a honest review, thanks! For now on, I will never buy another cheap ass brand unless I see a video of the reviewers gigging with that same cheap ass guitar...

Thanks for the video man I just purchased my first Firefly after 6 years of waiting. Issues in life made me wait till now but in that time I've researched hundreds of guitars hundreds of videos. I like your videos on Firefly you convinced me to buy one. I bought a firefly LP cobra burst tobacco. It'll be here in a couple days. I hope I got a good one. They cut the frets to size then round them before installing now like Eart . Your neck may just need a little more relief, but a setup and level are really needed on most budget instruments. FF really are the best bang for buck. It doesn’t take much to make them really great. Time will tell as the wood dries fully as to longevity but so far my 2 year old lp is still in perfect shape. I’m going to wait for the next gen on the new designs. Every run has gotten better than the last.

I bought a Firefly guitar with the same problem. Luckily their return policy is great and I was refunded a few days after I returned the guitar unlike donner guitars who stopped answering my text when I requested a return

You definitely got a bad on I've herd this played and it's killer. Send it back they will no issue replace it. They are way better then most think.

This exact same thing happened to me when I got my first Firefly but was the FFLV Green Classic, and I got it....I'd say a little over a month ago too. Lowered the action, on the 10th fret (Low E, I'm tuned to Dropped C for the record) the note instantly "fretted out". Took out my trusty 'Fret Filing Kit & Rocker". Sure enough, 😆 3 frets raised and/or uneven. Took me about 45 minutes got it sounding....well, where it needed to be! As a guitar Luthier/Tech I'll tell ya, stainless steel frets are by far the hardest frets to level..Great vid, new sub gained! Go ahead and watch the videos on my channel about the Firefly FFLV and all the others

Love your channel brother. Cheap guitars are her to stay. Gibson Fender PRS..... All don't get it it's about getting in the game...... $200 is where you want to be if your exceptional no worries high end guitars are going to be given to you. Rock on! Cheers Doug😎🤘

I had very much the same kind of fret leveling problems that you describe here on my Firefly FFTL model. It really is a shame, because the guitar sounds very good, has a GORGEOUS finish, and so many other good points! I was wondering about the FFPR, because I absolutely LOVE the PRS design, which does a wonderful job marrying some of the best features of the Strat and the Les Paul. Alas, even the PRS SE line is way out of my league price-wise. Overall, I’ve generally had a much better experience with the PRS copies I’ve had from IYV. You might want to check out the IYV IPF-300 (semi-hollow) and the IP-350 (solid body) models, which are absolutely amazing for the money. I just wish IYV offered the range of color choices that Firefly does.

Pretty guitar, and great tone and playing, but for some reason I've never really warmed up to the PRS-style guitars. That's too bad about the frets. That would make me hesitate to buy a Firefly guitar.

Yea They’re good for the 200 bucks that you pay. . Ehh. But I still go to the prs and Gibsons. Not being a snob. It’s just. Why play it when you can play something that is just way better. That’s all. And I hate changing pick ups. I just sold mine for what I paid

The ability to resale these for even money is unheard of on the cheaper end. As for Gibson the pleck job they get before leaving cost more than the FF.

Cool review Boss.. But I'm still buying the Firefly. And buying the brand name isn't a guarantee of no defects. My buddy ordered a custom L5 directly from Gibson. It arrived with fret sprout and some finish flaws. (in fairness Gibson was quick to rectify the issues) But there are No guarantees for perfection in guitar land. that being said? If the video tour of PRS SE factory is true ? it id doubtful you would find one with issues.

Cool vid, and really cool guitar! Honestly... never been much of a fan of PRS guitars. I know they're solid instruments, but I have always thought they were way over-rated. I've had 2 of them. I tried. They were both set up well.. and played OK. But they were boring. They had zero ballz at all. I know... I could have changed out the PUPs. But what's the point in spending that kind of cash.. to have to do that? Nope. But this guitar looks cool. Sounds cool. I've had a coupe Fireflys too - and they were good. I might have to check this model out. I dig it. I had 2 of the Harley Benton PRS style guitars, and loved them both. But traded away both, for various reasons. I want another one. But also might check these out.

Real shame because the look and feel of the fireflys is crazy for the price. Fret leveling, pleking, pickup replacement, tuners and string replacement and you have something awesome.

it sounds SO good.............Lord. PRS are a total rip off guitar brand.........and honestly?......they are quite boring guitars too. yeah, you could ask the luthier to STONE THE FRETS.......which is a very low price Levelling. Luthiers think of "fret stoning" as a job often needed doing on a brand new guitar to lower the "high new frets" and get it more playable...and they would probably LEVEL everything in that job.......... i have had it done on a couple of new guitars and it's a great idea for most new guitars. They don't charge much. that should solve the levelling issue

P.S. fret leveling crowning and polishing? is a bit arduous.. But not one of the great mysteries of life ..pretty straight forward actually, And is something you will most likely need to every guitar sooner or later. But i get that a person new to guitar may be at a loss with this issue.

I didn't know Christopher Walken had a guitar channel. Same old story with Firefly, and all these super cheap guitars: they're great value if you get a good neck and frets, and they're garbage if not because they're not worth the time and/or money to fix. The reason's pretty clear: fretwork is the most time-consuming thing to get right on a guitar, and at these prices, they simply can't afford to put in the time.
