Thanks for the shoutout! That “favorite angle” was by my wife! One thing to keep in mind is that in person this sounded so much better. That tone you mentioned was so rich and powerful, and those runs seemed to hang in the air forever. Every Angelina fan owes it to themselves to hear her perform live..

Britt is someone I hope gets to go to one of Angelina's concerts Chris. She always has so much to say. When I first heard Angelina was going to be Singing at Portsmouth, Britt was one of the first people I let know about James Thiel 'S youtube channel he had just dedicated to Portsmouth. I think it ended up at a time where she was about to welcome a new baby loved one into this world.

I agree Miss Britt, This is about the most riskye Im not sure if I spelled that correctly seen her dress atire ? I think she trying to get a younger crowd of fans, Cuz the average age of her fan base is 71 years old since she was 8, I know when I became a fan of hers I was 62 and I questioned myself am I a creepy old man or something ? Then after I read a few comments everybody was saying how shes like family to them like a daughter or grand daughter. Then I felt reassured Im alright being a fan and now referred to as an angel. for the rest of my life. She just does something to the soul when she performs, Its hard to explain but the feeling is transdential and other worldly. I was never into music as a kid but now Im a music junky . Thanks to Angelina God bless her, I guess shes already blessed. Great reaction Britt.God bless.

As always, another outstanding reaction to Angelina! And every human in that audience was crying! I was there, and can say I saw no one that was not crying and if there was , they are not human and have no heart! For me with that performance by Angelina I marked 2 of the 3 things still on my bucket list off! First was seeing her live, in person for the first time, and second I had been waiting since she was 9, when she did a fantastic job singing a shortened version of this song, for her to sing it better than Bobby Hatfield (Righteous Brothers) did in 1965 when he covered it on the Andy Williams show. I was in the audience that night in 1965, and it instantly became my favorite song of all time. For many years I did not think anyone could ever sing it better, but when I heard Angelina sing it at 9, and in my mind I knew that one day she would! AND, on the night of Sept. 22, 2023 SHE DID! Oh, and Bobby's version was a cover! The song was written and first performed in 1955 in the prison movie "Unchained"!

Thanks for sharing this story. You must be one of those rarest of individuals to have witnessed the singing of this classic song by these two iconic singers. I was also there that night and had never experienced anything quite like it. So glad I could attend! Hearing Angelina sing her own take on Unchained Melody was the highlight of the evening!

What a great story you recalled seeing the Righteous Brothers original live!
@rmcc4211 ай бұрын
@@DGrain-p6j Yes, it was quite an experience. I had met the members of the New Christy Minstrels a couple of years earlier (1963) during the time they were back-up singers on the show. They told me that if I was ever in Burbank I should go see the taping if possible. When I finally was in the area they were no longer on the show, but the Osmond Brothers were and I liked them and I liked Andy Williams, and several people that I was with wanted to go also so we managed to get tickets and went . I barely knew who the Righteous Brothers were before seeing them that night. By the way, Bobby's performance was by far the highlight of the show!!! During a break in the taping they introduced Bobby's Mother who was in the audience and was seeing and hearing her son perform on stage for the first time! But I must admit, seeing and hearing Angelina live in Portsmouth was a much bigger experience for me!

Hi Britt, I was also there sitting just behind Big Angie Fan and his wife. As soon as she started to sing Unchained Melody, you could tell it was something so special and awe inspiring. Not only did everyone including myself cry, but the standing ovation she got at the end went on for several minutes and the performance of the song was clearly the highlight of the concert. For me, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and Bohemian Rhapsody were also show stoppers and got impressive standing ovations as well. All in all, a very memorable night and I was so glad to later learn that Angelina loved being there and performing to a sold out performance. She looked so happy. She got one of the best billings for the summer at the prestigious Music Hall in historic Portsmouth performing on a Friday night. After all, Yo Yo Mah had a sold out performance the Wednesday before to put her concert in perspective. By slowing down the pace of the song, she was able to add so much depth to her notes and as you said, be so emotional with her runs and interpretative expression. Her operatic voice at the end of the song left many jaws to drop and was breathtaking. Stay well and keep the reactions coming!!!

Hey Britt. I was there for your first peek at Angelina just like your cousin but I saw Mrlboyd much earlier for his first. As Big AngiaFan has noted it was so much better live. I was also there and traveled from Western Canada not quite as far as from Hawaii that Big Angiefan traveled and even got lucky enough to meet her in the airport lol. At the very end of this performance I am the one that hollers out "beautiful " to which Angelina so graciously says Thabk you. What a treat to see her. I am a rock and roll blues guitarist and even a bit of a metal head for watching. I have seen some of the biggest names that are in the Hall of Fame. I saw some of Angelina when she first went vital and have been an ANGEL of hers for years. You just can't deny talent and I will travel again to see this wonderful, beautiful and humble young lady.😇

Britt, great reaction, as usual. I was front row for this concert. AJ mentioned Elvis in her intro -- but IMO she sang "Unchained" as much in the style of Bobby Hatfield as Elvis. The audio for the concert was not good, but of course Chris (BigAngieFan) did a fantastic job of optimizing the sound. Enforcers at the concert manic about confronting fans taking video, so it's a miracle there's anything at all online. At one point, AJ asked her fans to come up front -- which didn't go well with the security folks, who quietly asked attendees to go back to their seats. AJ's mother (Sara) took video on her iPhone during the entire second half of the concert (she was immediately beside me). It would be great to get some of that video on KZbin. Sara, if you're reading this, UPLOAD.

Shortly after her "Million Miles" single was released in 2020, Angelina posted to Patreon that she was "free to… dress how I want, and just be me, myself". From the context, she seemed to be referring to her contractual agreement with Republic Records, although I feel like she might have also been alluding to a more personal understanding she had come to with her family.😁 (It wasn't too long afterwards that she first showed up in social media posts wearing the now-ubiquitous colored contacts.)

The original was not performed by the Righteous Brothers, they were the first to make it a hit. This was the case for a number of songs. If you refer back to her 9 yr old performance it puts up the title and songwriters.
The Righteous Brothers were leading exponents of the music genre "Blue-eyed Soul". One could consider that that term succinctly explained it all, especially back in their heyday. Even some of Elvis's bit songs might fit under that genre.

The original Unchained Melody was written with music by Alex North and lyrics by Hy Zaret as a theme for the prison film Unchained in 1955. Since then, the song has had over 1,500 recordings by over 670 artists and recorded in multiple languages. It has charted into the 21st century and reached number 1 in many countries around the world. It is considered one of the greatest songs ever written for American movies. In the original movie, the song is sung by Todd Duncan to an acoustic guitar accompaniment in a casual group prison scene and only lasts for about 1 minute and 18 seconds. This original version is also much slower than the Righteous Brothers version but a little faster than how Angelina sung the song here. Plus, there is no going up into high head voice at any point in the song in the movie. The original: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWKUnneflLGLm5o You mentioned that Angelina's version almost has an Elvis quality to it. Elvis sung Unchained Melody in 1977 where two of his live performances were recorded, had some studio overdubs with additional instruments added, and then they were released. The last one recorded occurred on June 21, 1977, at a show in Rapid City, South Dakota that was part of his last television special, and was also released in June in his last album, Moody Blue. Elvis unfortunately died on August 16, 1977, less than two months after the live June show I was also at this concert with front row seats on the left aisle. Angelina's mother Sara was next to me in the aisle live streaming the song back to Rob Christie in LA (Rob is the Studio Director in the Republic Records LA studios) and also doing FaceTime with Rob. After Angelina finished and was getting a standing ovation, Sara got up and scanned the audience in the live stream

Wow! Sara must have been so proud of her daughter at that moment. I'd be floating on air. Angelina makes it look so easy, but like a magician there's hours and hours and hours of hard work behind that "simple" perfection. The whole family is a class act.

Actually, I thin I like her "Elvis" sound the best in her rendition of IT'S NOW OR NEVER when she was like 11 or 12. My absolute favorite by heere is SUMMERTIME when she was like 10 or 11...gorgeous...

Hi Britt, I don't know for sure if you messaged me, and I'm not savvy, and I don't how to figure it out, BUT a little page with a message from you to speak with me about the concert (?) came across my pc screen and disappeared as those notifications always do. Anyhow, if that's what happened, I'd live chat about the Abgelina live experience. I will go anywhere to hear again. 37 STATES AND 7 OR 8 COUNTRIES were represented at the concert.
