Much lower weight and much greater power & torque. Great! All that power with just one disc in front seems like the brakes will be over matched. Lots of power, with a 3.1 gallon tank, seems like the range will be not much over 100 miles. Lots to like, though. However, the pricing is rough. Starts at $15,000 (without adding about $700 in mid-controls, for shorter riders). HD continues to move their pricing up-stream, which won't help them attract younger new riders. It's difficult to be the American working person's moto-company when only doctors, dentists & lawyers can afford your bikes!

I rode Bikes and raced them From 1963 to 2000 and stopped,had 41 bikes in that time according to my ledger.Five of them were Harleys.I bought a 1971 Superglide(first year and AMF).It had many defects,left me stranded and almost wrecked me and the fellow who bought it from me(rod went through the bottom).He wasn't going fast when it happened.Fast forward to the present(21years later),i decided to get another Motorcycle.I wound up with a Kawasaki ZX-14r.Very comfortable and the price was only 200 more than this new Sportster.I haven't even been on a bicycle in those 21 years but yet i took off on it like it was yesterday.It's easy to ride,just watch your throttle hand with 207 HP on tap.I'm 72 years old now and enjoying it.I guess i'm writing this because i don't trust first year bikes and Willie G isn't going to bail Harley out this time.

As someone who isn't a big fan of Harleys, they've got my attention. I'm more of a sport bike guy, just my thing. I've put a bit of miles on my wife's Sporty 1200, power is OK but I don't like how it handles and I'm just uncomfortable on it. Mid pegs would definitely help. I'm disappointed Harley went this far to make a sportier bike but failed on the braking. No way this should've made production with a single front disk, I can only imagine the amount of brake fade with a sport bike rider on it.... That alone isn't going to keep me from a test ride with serious consideration in buying one, but disappointing none the less. I think they came out with a bike that will attract sport bike riders, me being one of them. 121hp and twice the torque of my cbr600, this thing should be a beast. I want to see someone riding this thru the canyons, flicking it thru the twisties, and see what it's really capable of.

Short shots are the male equivalent of “live laugh love” …and yes I had a set 😂 they busted in two places- welds failed at the flange, and the mounting bracket cracked in half. (I live in a place with a LOT of potholes) I then went with a TBR 2-1 and immediately knew they were superior in all categories to the short shots, except sheer volume. 2-1’s are loud on throttle, quiet at highway speeds/idle, not for everyone but I loved em.

So I think pricing on the Sportster S is not geared for younger riders even though the tech is. But i do have something to say for my friends in their twenties worried about money. I’m not rich but I spent 20k on a Harley. But with that it means I can’t eat out as much or drive a fancy car. It depends on your commitment to what you like to do with your money. I’m getting tired of people complaining that high quality products are expensive, yeah no shit. Get a job and work for it if you want it. “But a brand new CBR600 is only 11k” Then get that. It’s a plastic pos in my opinion even if it’s faster. Sorry but H-D will probably never be a cheap motorcycle company. They make amazing bikes and that comes with a less than amazing cost. I don’t complain to Porsche that they need to make a 911 turbo more cost effective for my poor ass. I just accept that I can only afford an 05 Corolla and one nice thing, and that’s my Harley. This generation I’m part of seems to want a lot handed to them rather than buckling down and working for it. Also if price is the only thing you think about in terms of riding a bike then maybe you shouldn’t ride. You should be thinking about the awesome times that machine will give you and the new perspective of the world you will get by hitting the road on two wheels. Stop buying so many lattes and maybe you can save up and get a badass bike. Can’t wait to see y’all on the road. Cheers and ride safe.

Also still no A2 bike in HD lineup?? You can start riding at age 15 here, but you have to wait an additional 9 years to ride a HD.. @AM-nk7it
@AM-nk7it 3 жыл бұрын
How? you have 2.0 in of suspension travel in the back, which is more like a 1.5 in after you seat down. And for the shock not to move without hitting the bottom it HAS to be pretty stiff. And if you put someone in the back it will probably hit the bottom all the time. Indian has 4.72 in which give you more control over the set up. It will HAVE to ride pretty stiff with 2.0 in. suspension travel in the back and 3.6 in. at the front.
@loop1479
@loop1479 3 жыл бұрын
@@AM-nk7it What you say may prove correct, but the Scout suspension was SHIT quality for anything less than perfectly paved roads. Loved most things about it apart from it's suspension and lack of cornering ability. Did 13000km in the 10 months I rode it. Ohlins 2"may be more than equal to Scout 4 and 3" front and rear respectively.".

They are most likely not canceling it, but rather putting it on hold and pushing back its release date to see how well the Pan America and the Sportster S are received. Also, it likely would not have been a good idea to release it at the same time as the Pan America.

so after watching this video, and even though i do own a harley, I honestly think harley is going the wrong way. so Harley wants to put out a new sportster thats great, but think out this. they want to sell this for 15k (14,995 usd) but here is things to think about. the motor is a 1250. 94 torque and 120ish hp. big deal. again i do own a harley. but for the class bike you can get the same style in an Indian scout. 100 hp and around 80 torque. all for under 11k. and it comes with the same forward controls. 6sp tranny, and thw engine is a 1100. Also something to think about is why would someone want something at this price when u can pick up a streep bob with a big V twin 114 ci engine. 114 torque and 90 Hp for less money.
