Remember people: when companies compete, consumers win. You WANT Harley to make competitive bikes, even if you don't plan to buy one.
@stephenx2857
@stephenx2857 2 жыл бұрын
this is kind of stupid logic. You want good bikes, and hopefully good, sound companies competing. not some dying brand, who leverages gov lobbying and predatory legislation to linger on as some zombie shit show of it's bygone days... throwing spaghetti at the wall. if it doesn't legitimately impact the market, by being relevant, the other manufacturers won't be put in a position to respond. It's also perfectly reasonable to wish harley dead... so some other moto manufacturer can take it's place.

@@stephenx2857 I mean I get what your saying based on their previous government cheat code tactics but it's a level playing field now and they're finally adapting. When there aren't artificial sweeteners being the recipe is that competing companies benefit consumers. I'm just hoping they can survive the crashing wave if this economic bubble bursts in a real ugly way. I think every manufacturer is going to take some damage in the next 5 years. If I had the extra cash, purchasing one would not be out of the question. It had tons of pull and I was shocked by its handling and braking. It seemed great as a cruiser to me. Comfortable, smooth, relaxing, but easily powers up when needed. Everyone has different opinions. After spending time in the saddle of this one, I can't agree with a lot of his. I APPRECIATE bikes I can even get my damn leg over, never mind that actually FIT me. Being a bit older and with a bad slower back, I don't reckon I'd have much use for those forward bars though. It’s like Harley finally understood that to seduce new (and young) riders, they needed to build actual modern motorcycles that can turn, brake and not antiquated 2 wheels tractors with 60 years old technology costing 2 to 3 times more what they really should. Sure they look great and are raw and all, but you can see how much money people throw at them to make them into performance baggers, they change every single part on the bike. Now for the Sportser S, I’m actually shocked how good it looks, it looks like a custom bike from the factory, it handles well, good suspensions, good brakes, motor is powerful and seems great, and all of that at a really good price! Makes you wonder how much of a rip off they are on the rest of their model. Except the fact that I’m 6’6 and will look like I’m riding a minibike, everything on that bike makes me want to test ride it! Except the gimmicks I don’t care like motor modes and other things, but they sure look awesome sans seem great to ride!

Will somebody please slap an aftermarket pipe on these for the love of Rossi haha. The stock Euro5 friendly exhaust on these sounds absolutely lame, usually stock harleys actually sound decent, but guessing they had to go to great lengths to make the EU happy with the sound level to sell it in the EU.

Did you get to sample one with Mid Controls vs Forward? Any have screaming eagle exhaust for more sound? Hopefully they bring the bronx to market. Good reviews of both Pan Am and Sportster S :)

Yes. It’s still a girl’s bike just like any other bike a girl chooses to buy with her money and ride. Regardless, I always liked the Sportster and its iconic look. Was it in need of an update. Well sure. Was it still better than the new and ever so homely Rebel? It sure was to me even with all the power, handling and technology shortcomings that Papa Yam 🍠 says it lacked. Now time moves on and long live the new Sportster and Dirt Glide!!!

I bought one and I really like the bike. That also said I can appreciate why a lot of others wouldn't like it. I have owned a few Hondas which and a night train before this bike. I like its not really a cruiser or a full blown sport bike. I realise there are other bikes that I have not experienced that may be in this category and be really great or better. But I feel like this bike really fits what I am looking for at this moment. I look foward to trying other bikes as well. I wish I got try out all the bike you guys get to try.

So all this being said I think you’ve found the comparison to the Indian FTR,especially I can recall hearing something to the tune of it depends on which standpoint you’re coming from; whether that be from a cruiser or from a sportier platform. Neither the sportster or the FTR,again based off this video,fit into the cruiser category or the sport/naked category. Yes the FTR looks more like a naked and the sportster looks more like a cruiser,but they dance the same line. And that line is this weird new class of bike that we’ve yet to fully understand. Perhaps a comparison between the two would help to light the way of this new/weird path. I think both of these bikes know exactly what they’re about,and I think it’s something of an awakening of a brand new class

I purchased the Midnight Crimson Sportster S RH1250S on Nov 19; never looking back... this bike is sweet, and the more I ride it, the more I love it. Truly, a modern motorcycle for the 21st century, tough, ergonomic, FAST, torque, tech, did I say FAST? and holy cow does it look great! I'm 102 Kg at 6'1" and this bike fits me like a glove... you need to have the preload set properly; fortunately this is easy with the knob left under the seat (all the way out, then 11 clicks in for my weight). This bike is FINALLY the right weight for the power|torque... its not a small motorcycle; other Harleys are too heavy. (needs to be said) The RH1250S is going to save Harley-Davidson in my opinion. We finally have a sport cruiser that has power to spare and plenty of torque in the lower ranges where you really need it in an urban setting or up in the twisties too! Can't say enough, I love this bike! marcus

The bike looks good I love the black on black, I just wish it was a dual exhaust system. I really want to hear it with the bassani exhaust system, I think it would sound awesome. I really like the sportster line and this new edition is truly a compliment to the Harley-Davidson line. I wasn't sure that it was going to catch on but, I think it's newly redesigned line should resuscitate a new breed of Harley-Davidson enthusiasts and generation.

I agree with everything besides that the sportster s "isn't a cruiser". Just because you are not comfortable on it doesn't mean it's not a cruiser. Hell I ride a M109R and I'm not that comfortable at 6'3/4 (just like the guy in the video) yet I still consider it a crusier. Yes I know the M109R is a muscle cruiser , yet it's still a cruiser

Do you think that a higher seat and maybe different handlebars would make it fit you well, or would it require significantly more? Since there was a lot of discussion of about properly fitting on the bikes, it would also be helpful if we knew how long the testers' legs are. Heights are not as useful, since I have known people of the same height that had a four-inch-difference in inseam length. Thanks.

I still have yet to take it out on a lengthy ride to really test the stock ride position but im honestly surprised to say that it oddly feels comfortable, I thought my body would feel a little strained from the forward lean and feet out front, I love the way it feels ESPECIALLY since it weighs the exactly the same as my previous bike at 487lbs (2001 Yamaha YZF600R Thundercat. one thing I dont really like about it is how small the tank is lol, my old T-cat was around 5 gallons, I could get around 220-230. BUUUUUUT for how fast and powerful this bike is I think I can manage to try and save fuel with it, I can be pretty easy on the throttle when I need to be. the squidness can wait. Overall I love what they did with this bike, never really liked the previous sportster Harley had so Im glad I got the S

Went to Sturgis back in 17. At the bar the Bar Tender was telling us, we need more hell raisers like you young guys to come in here. Look at this place, it's a damn geriatric clinic. As I looked around I saw what she meant. Maybe this will get the younger crowds into the Harley scene. Love the sportester, but those pipes make it's butt look big. That would be the first thing I'd change out. Other than that, it is quite a looker. The ergonomics are not new, I have a Triumph Bonneville America that has the same type of ergos. It does feel like a sport bike, until you remember how far forward your feet are. Kind of like the Duc Diavel. I initially thought, how the heck is that considered a cruise..... No way. Then I sat on it and realized the peds are well forward, just like a cruiser. Good on you Harley, nice to step up to the plate with good offerings this year vs the 500 and 750 bikes you put out a few years back.

Yea, I'll have to agree with some of you commenting! I'll be frowning on this bike, "if I don't buy one!!" My last motorcycle, I would take to the drag-strip, it was an 85 Vmax, that I kept until 2005, when my house burned down, and took my motorcycle with it. Then after I lost the bike, I quit riding altogether till 2017, when I came across a deal, that I just couldn't pass up! An 08 Sportster Nightster 1200 which I have to this day! I have really modified it, So making a transition to the Sportster S, would make me even happier! (I'm 63yo) "I will own a Sportster S machine!"

Everyone always forgets that the sportster was intended to be a small sporty racey cruiser option to the big bulky FL models of the time.. With that being said, they need to put the 1250 engine in the Nightster and also make a larger FX variant with the 1250 engine in it, either a Softail or Dyna..
