Michael Sabo I hope you reply but will a lighter weight forged piston make less torque than a cast? It seems plausible to me since it would be less rostering weight but it would rev faster and easier
@stevenbroski52355 жыл бұрын

@juantabby47875 жыл бұрын
Steven Broski no lighter stuff just moves faster. What you’re talking about is compression.

Made in Taiwan parts are usually ok to good in quality. Made in China parts are usually utter junk to ok in quality. Don't confuse the two - there is a difference.

I bought one of those holzforma knock off Husqvarna 372xp chainsaws from china. Also purchased the big bore top end for 16$, and the quality is surprisingly high.
@GoodlookinMug5 жыл бұрын
The cheap cast piston could be bore matched to the cheap cylinder. Shiny isn’t always better lol.

Nice job once again! Love to see a video of you ripping it around.

Dude, I could literally see where the crosshatch stopped lower into the cylinder where the piston rings don't run down that far when you tilted the cylinder at 3:39
@tylersoutherland79055 жыл бұрын
I got a cheap kit lol. Ran just fine, had tons more power, and had really good compression. Rode it for about three days then sat for about two days. Went to start it up and it was smokin harder than a freight train! Piston skirts wore down and chipped off and shaved the cylinder

I’ve used cheap pistons on all my quads! The 2006 Blaster I paid 70$ for piston and jug, and that was 5 years ago. My son rides it pretty hard too

It's just hard to trust off brand parts these days. I myself don't take chances because I've been burned by that issue before. I realize there's probably nothing wrong with them it's just preference.

Hey! I'm not the only one who knows the trick on making the cylinder head flat again with sandpaper. I have done that many many times. I've had people tell my I'm stupid for that and so on. I Would get rid of those Wire Nuts and Solder then Heat shrink the wire back together.

Hello there! Great work on this video and repair! Is it possible for you to share a link for that top end kit you bought? I've been looking and so far I can't find one with that elbow on the cylinder housing. I would appreciate the help, thank you!
@Robertas_Grigas5 жыл бұрын
Unless you are going to run 150hp shot of nos you don't need a forged piston Also forged pistons wear out the cylinder walls quicker especially the nikasil coated ones Thicker pistons side walls means that it will expand more due to more material so you will have to run looser tolerances.
@zillobeast525711 ай бұрын
So u r saying he shouldve stuck with the chinese piston, i dont understand what causes that excessive wear on the cylinder walls tho

Dont take it out for more then a test ride. Not an all day deal... You need to sell not fix it again. AWESOME job. I could have got a 2009 nice condition KFX450r for 600 bucks.. I passed because the case was taken out from a chain. Bike ran great however the JB weld he did was leaking pretty bad. New engine cases are expensive and who knows what ill find in a 10 year old race quad. I didnt make sense to me to buy it and have to completely rebuild the whole engine even if it was 600 bucks.
@racerx92235 жыл бұрын
The oil rings groove oil holes look nicely spaces and such too, also this knockoff looked heavier built (thicker) than the old knockoff..

Never use a 3m rolock disc to clean gasket surfaces they will cause high and low spots on surfaces from removing metal . seen heads and blocks have to be milled because of it.
@kingkracker19983 жыл бұрын
Also the cheap piston is poured aluminum and the Wiseco piston is pressed aluminum so it's much denser aluminum all around
@randombuilds83365 жыл бұрын
If your working on vintage Japanese bikes look for the ebay seller cruzinimage. Pistons are well priced, very close to matched on multi-cylinder sets, and very good tolerances.

@Crettybocker4272 жыл бұрын
LOL , The oem is like 5x weaker facts based its a forged piston factory is not best is what works and what they can get alot of cheap or they would make no profit take a ever take a rockwell hardness test to a oem piston ??? I have no even close to any forged aftermarket .

I would never put any cheap Chinese made junk inside my big dollar engine... Good way to cost yourself several thousand dollars because you want to cheap out on a major engine component to save a couple bucks..

Do you have an update on the cylinder? I’m thinking about buying this kit and I am lil nervous about it. I will be using the piston that comes with it. Just gonna be a cruiser so not gonna be dogging it and making a mud machine out of if. Think it will be ok?

I've heard of people cold seizing their new pistons or just locking them up because they overlook these much needed holes fir 2-strokes with exhaust bridges. Cast pistons don't need them just the forged pistons expand more but I'm sure you know that.
