Talia Letkeman The thing is their job isn't making coffee or doing data entry in some nice comfy workplace, they work for the Chicago Fire Department where they're being tested mentally, physically and emotionally. If their relationship impedes either of their duties or puts risk to their job and those around them - coworkers or civilians, or anyone - then either one of them, both, or their superior has to step in and stop before something bad happens. Granted I haven't seen the episode yet, but it must have been serious if Jimmy was specifically told he had to end their relationship. Especially given that I believe they do different jobs within the department. The superior has to think about what's best for everyone, it doesn't always end happily. Another important factor is that it is also his career that he has to think about. He wants to be a firefighter. He has to think of what's best for him too. If it was the other way around, I'd support Chilli's decision and not think less of her for doing so, definitely wouldn't think of her as less of a woman for making that decision. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices on your pathway to your career (e.g. location, moving houses/countries, ending relationships, etc).

Brett did the right thing. Telling Boden the truth about what happened. Chilli's erratic behaviour and her administering morphine instead of diazapam to the seizing patient couldn't be brushed aside; coming in smelling of alcohol or sleeping with firefighters on duty was unacceptable and dangerous. Hopefully, with treatment Chilli can return to work healthy, clean, and sober. However, once someone is an addict,they will always have an addiction; it's only when they are completely sober, do they understand they understand what their addiction has cost them.
