Software is dated but works great. I love that there are no updates coming up and causing issues. I have been using DGX for 12 years. I cannot find anything better and I have tried many. I also own Creative Sound BlasterX G6 Hi-Res Gaming DAC and many others, but I like DGX more. Recently I need PCI-E slot vacant for some other card, so I have just bought Xonar U7. I hope that it will sound the same as DGX.

I really like your vids! I got a question: My mainboard has a ALC3601 soundchip. Can you tell me if the Xonar DX is worth getting or would it be a downgrade in sound quality? I read that the onboard soundchips are pretty good these days.

you can try to bend the small bracket straight so it can at least hold in the slot. i did that with small gpu to fit full size case

Thanks for the advice. I've already taken this card out of my primairy system, so there is no more need for that. But again, thanks!

Great review (as always)! Since I do have a need for a low-profile card is there one you can recommend? I mainly listen to music using the EVGA NU or ASUS Xonar Essence STX but those would be a difficult fit for my current project. Thanks!

I have an Asus Xonar DG, the PCI version of the DGX, and when running RMAA I got pretty different results than yours... I was getting off results like yours, but found a guide from Asus about how to configure a D2 for RMAA, I used those same methods to set up the testing for the DG and tried the tests again and got much better results, posted below. Testing device [DirectSound] Speakers (ASUS Xonar DG Audio Device) Sampling mode 24-bit, 96 kHz Interface DirectSound Testing chain External loopback (line-out - line-in) RMAA Version 6.4.5 20 Hz - 20 kHz filter ON Normalize amplitude ON Level change 0.5 dB / 0.5 dB Mono mode OFF Calibration singal, Hz 1000 Polarity correct/correct Summary Frequency response (from 40 Hz to 15 kHz), dB +0.06, -0.08 Excellent Noise level, dB (A) -103.8 Excellent Dynamic range, dB (A) 103.4 Excellent THD, % 0.00467 Very good THD + Noise, dB (A) -84.0 Good IMD + Noise, % 0.00950 Very good Stereo crosstalk, dB -83.6 Very good IMD at 10 kHz, % 0.00596 Excellent General performance Very good

Also tested a D1 (PCI version of the DX) @ the same sample rate as your shown DX test w/ these results (found that missing 0): Testing device [DirectSound] Speakers (ASUS Xonar D1 Audio Device) Sampling mode 24-bit, 192 kHz Interface DirectSound Testing chain External loopback (line-out - line-in) RMAA Version 6.4.5 20 Hz - 20 kHz filter ON Normalize amplitude ON Level change -0.7 dB / -0.7 dB Mono mode OFF Calibration singal, Hz 1000 Polarity correct/correct Summary Frequency response (from 40 Hz to 15 kHz), dB +0.06, -0.05 Excellent Noise level, dB (A) -112.6 Excellent Dynamic range, dB (A) 112.7 Excellent THD, % 0.00095 Excellent THD + Noise, dB (A) -97.3 Excellent IMD + Noise, % 0.00119 Excellent Stereo crosstalk, dB -84.0 Very good IMD at 10 kHz, % 0.00115 Excellent General performance Very good

Where is the ASUS guide on this? I just got a DGX unexpectantly and wanted to see about replicating your setup ...
@joelo35097 ай бұрын
@@vap0rtranz My reply keeps gettin deleted or something... The guide is in the downloads section on RMAAs official website, it's for the D2, but I used that method of testing for all my Xonar cards and got results near advertised. I used external loopback, the guide mentions in a note how to do that in instruction 4.

In my country a Xonar AE cost 3 times more than a DX.. its really worth that amount of money for music and gaming with heatsets using analog conection?
@AntonsHardware3 жыл бұрын
I'd go do the DX than. The AE is better, but not 3 times the DX.

Can you help me? I have MMX300 and use a Xonar DGX. Will an Upgade be worth it? Either G6 or AE-5
@AntonsHardware3 жыл бұрын
Ha! I was thinking, didn't I see this question before... Well I did :D Here's my answer: I use the MMX300 also! One of the best headsets ever! Too bad the mic isn't particularity good. Both the G6 and the AE5 are very very good sound cards and both are capable of delivering high quality audio. So it will come down to your own preference! External of internal! If I had to choose... I'd go for the AE5

I like the DGX mainly for the front panel sense and headphone amp. I don't care much if it's 7.1 or 5.1 as I only use 2.1 anyway. EDIT: I can't hear past 16K on one ear and 14K on the other ear.

Thanks for details , i had upgrade new motherboard as shame cant use my 9 years old PCI Xonar DG...Now will go order Asus XONARAE PCIE. Always better use sound-card not wear-out motherboard weak Realtek® ALC892 Codec

A definite upgrade that I enjoyed a lot! The ALC892 isn't that good either, so you will hear a huge improvement.

Too bad I want optical and I like the old school software that hopefully wont chugg up my RAM. Powered Speakers with the DGX is gonna be great! Better than the USB it's currently using.

The sound card is amazing I just gotta use the other software since asus doesn’t officially support it no more. It’s beautiful though. Gonna get some 64ohm open back headphones to try that! The optical on it works amazingly.
