I feel like the way they tried to animate the short film was to replicate how the older short films looked. And the stiffness could be either an animation style choice or just because of the smaller budget for the short. I personally like the short because of that older 2000's look. Especially since it was Donald's 90th birthday, it was nice for animators to bring back 2d animation.

Maybe because in the past, short 2D cartoon animations were around 10 minutes and that alone was enough to make viewers (kids) satisfied, because of the good storytelling or something like that. If they made it too short, 2 minutes for example, it would definitely be a bit boring (probably?)

Personally, I liked it! While not comparable to the classics, it’s also shorter. With as much as people have been asking for a return of 2D animation and looking back to point out things from the classics they miss, I don't think this is the time to be nitpicky. They finally made something in this style. The backgrounds may not give off the look of a high budget production, but the animation and movement are appealing to look at. It also wouldn't surprise me if they didn't wanna go too far with textures after the critique of the visuals of Wish. The way this looks also makes it stand out from the other recent cartoons and makes it clear that it's different. I think this is the place we should cut them some slag.

Here’s my statement regarding wish as a “flop” the animation is similar to that of new animated Spider-Man where they paid homage to the original art style but prepared it in a more 3D setting. Wish was artistically amazing. Perfectly created the fairytale book feel but made it exist as if the books just turned 3D. As far as the story. It’s about the importance of wishing and working towards your wish. Not any specific character but the wishes in each of them. I’m glad I didn’t get too attached to characters, I got attached to the wish. My wish. The our ability to make it as real as possible. If you didn’t get it, you missed the point. I quite enjoyed the latest Donald Duck short, especially with how well it replicated the aesthetic of the classic cartoons.
