@@anon4606 LMAO, it's giving me a black screen. So.. I don't know yet.
@GameplayandTalk2 жыл бұрын
@@anon4606 All right, so I actually just found the solution. I was using it on a Super Game Boy and was just getting a black screen. Turns out there's a reset button on the front of the cart.. behind the plastic shell, so it's not super obvious. The button has to be held down on powering up the console, then let go, and then I have to press it again to activate the EZ Flash menu after the Super GB does its thing (should make its usual startup sound and say "Super Game Boy" at the bottom of the screen). Games load fine from there. The front button on the cart will reset back to the flash cart menu, otherwise a power cycle or console reset requires you to go through that process again. I'm not sure how this functionality works on a standard GB or GB Pocket as I don't have any to test with right now.

Nice and very thorough review. I know the Everdrive GB X7 is a fantastic cart but $130 is a bit steep for only a casual fan of the original Gameboy IMO. The load time on this cart is a drag but I guess I expect some compromises on something that costs half as much as the competitor.

@videogamerNattie982 жыл бұрын
I tend to counter that with Rechargeable Double As with a charger for them, they are more pricy then disposables on the offset but if your gonna be using a GB, GBC, or GBA often, they are very helpful and a very wise investment get a pack of 4 to 8 of them with a charger and youll have plenty of play time and when your not using it you can charge the batteries so you have them for a trip for later. Also another advantage to the GBC, and GB over the GBA is if you have the plug for it you can plug the GB/GBC directly into the mains with a DC charger completely eliminating that problem all together when your at home.

I think you missed one of most important points about these cheaper flash carts. Battery drain. The battery drain on EZ flash carts is crazy compared to say Everdrive and after only a small amount of use I'd say Everdrives pay for themselves. In some cases battery drain on EZ flash is 100% more than Everdrives which is insane. If you're on a budget and especially if you don't use Eneloops, save up and invest in an Everdrive. Otherwise you're potentially spending a huge amount on batteries.

I got this cart for a specific purpose only but realized really quickly that while I am not using it for that purpose, I have more than enough space to dump some of my games on it as well. I did notice the sticker on it was, as you said, cheap, and seemingly just thrown on there as my carts sticker didn't even line up with the concave edges it was supposed to be set within. With that in mind, I wasn't even planning to keep the sticker there and had already purchased a sticker for my specified purpose to replace it anyway. Other than that, the card is very solid and easy to use. I have had no problem with it so far, granted it being a few weeks in my ownership but yeah. And the reset button on the cart itself I find handy as well. I went ahead and hid the 2 files needed to run it and update it on my desktop so they wouldn't show up on my screen in the gameboy at all to make it look that much cleaner, it still works as intended since the files are hidden, they are still there but do not show and I like that. I had already figured out what I needed for it before watching this video but wanted to say thank you anyway. Your other videos have done me a favor in knowing what the next purchase is going to be so those were especially helpful for that when the time comes.

Thanks, that was useful. I'm not sure why you'd talk about the flex of the plastic and the quality of the sticker before confirming whether or not it actually functions as a reliable flash cart, though. @Restalgia4 жыл бұрын
@@8BitPasta they work in more or less the same way. Everdrive boards are higher quality, but these do the job. Its all a personal preference, but these are a great value.
