For me the 9th gen Si is my favorite. Because I feel it is an enhanced 8th gen with a better motor for an aftermarket turbo to really shine. Agreed there were some compromises in the enhancement but nothing deal breaking. It is just too easy to get 300+hp at the wheel out of a 9th gen without going insane with the build budget. And that is without a turbo. If you have turbo budget 400+hp is just the beginning. I also don't drive a compact JDM to hual human cargo. It is a driving experience for the driver and a lucky enough single female passenger. So yes coupe all day.

I've done a few minor interior modifications but it's just a phone holder, dash cam, aftermarket touch screen radio with Apple carplay and Android auto and a steering wheel cover. Painted the wheels black, got new red lug nuts, replaced the tail lights for aftermarket tail lights, replaced Chrome Civic badge with a black one. I also changed the bulbs to LEDs in the running lights and the low beams and I've replaced the badged Honda grill with a badgeless mesh grill. @jameshaulenbeek59314 жыл бұрын
If you don't swap it, the D17 in the EM2 is prone to head gasket failure, so keep an eye on that. If it starts pushing coolant out of the reservoir, the engine is toast - the blocks tend to warp in the middle, and cylinder 2 or 3 will blow to the water jacket. A swap would be best if you really like the car.
@FutureDeltaPilot7474 жыл бұрын
James Haulenbeek Wow, thanks for the headsup! Im not familiar with the D17 so, I will keep an eye on the motor and know a few mechanics who work on Honda's, so i will see what they recommend what to do as of now. That the last of the reliable Hondas. Those k series cars were incredible. The 2.4s were easier to live with but th k20s just revved to the limiter so freely. It may cost more upfront but it'll long pay you back in longevity. You can put 300k miles on those cars.

Yes! I have the fg2 civic si too! First time I an 8th gen civic and I love it

Look at all this space - I almost laughed!!! The Civic, especially the Coupe definitely feels extremely small in my opinion. All opinions aside though, these are very good cars for the money. Honda's still need love - I'm a VTEC fan! Good review once again :)

Personally a Sedan person but the 8th gen is great . I love that it’s a bit bigger than older civics lmao , especially with how versatile it is . It really stands out

I’ve seen many people crave and crave the more expensive, the higher power and it all comes at a price. Honda checks all the boxes, wrx also. Cost Reliability Cost of maintaining and repair Insurance Gas mileage Tuning potential Tuned reliability Precise and predictable handling in comparison to other cars at its price point and the fact that you can actually drive it without reaching speeds that put you instantly in the felony zone or where one mistake can kill you and others is so overlooked its insane. After you own powerful cars and you realize that driving them everyday for chores getting 10mpg, blowing up tires, having to deal with “race car” characteristics sucks the joy out of it. If you plan to go for a joy ride it’s a blast, but when you have your mind on handling life, getting things done and relative efficiency you immediately see the downsides. What makes it fun in one setting can make it just annoying in another. Unless you are going high end Audi etc. then the costs and unreliability can potentially eat that joy too. Honda was always about fun, enjoyment, engagement it was never about numbers, I took 40 years to get 205hp from the factory 😄 There is something about the Si package that gives an enthusiast so much for so little, after you have moved on and come back, that realization for many hits home. You hit the nail on the head with this one man 👌

I just got a Honda Civic LX from '08, although I'm a BimmerMan, and my parents have a '11 X5, which is hella fun and smooth... but i love my Civic, that's my blue baby and it has GREAT space everywhere and it's prefect since I'm going to college!

Had a '17 Civic SI which replaced my '08 Civic. Comparing the two generations, I prefer the NA Si because power came on in a satisfying linear fashion without all the electronic bs and turbo lag of the newer gen Si's. That K20z > L15B7

as a 10' 8th gen si coupe owner i can agree. Owning this car has changed my perspective about FWD cars entirely, it's a great daily and i love it.

Sloth not really that slow tbh
@sloth17964 жыл бұрын
@@morselr6972 it's slow depending on what ur comparing it to, for me I'm comparing it to my previous cars, a firebird and a wrx, so I consider it to be slow, but obviously its fast if u put it up against a slow economy car

@stephenmoore15414 жыл бұрын
Sloth, put an intake, exhaust, turbo and tune on that. It'll smoke a wrx, and it's head gaskets won't fail at 110k miles, while being more affordable.

Thank you for this video. Seriously. I have an 08 Honda Civic Ex coupe and it's rough around the edges all the way around, BUT, IT drives so good and gets about 400 miles a tank that's unheard of AND it's a manual. I would buy it again. No matter mine is beat all to hell, but it runs. And I 💜 it. Take care!!
