Had an 09 Si new, wife told me to sell it a couple years later. one of the biggest regrets I have done. loved the car so much, that 10 years later I bought me another one. I feel like I got lucky. found an 09 Si sedan white with only 50k miles on it. everything stock except the radio (who care about that). I am back in heaven. Love this car. Will never let it go. will drive it until I cant drive it no more. i am one happy dude again.

Man I miss my 8th gen Si. Most fun car I’ve ever had. It’s one of those cars you look forward to driving every single time, whether going to work, home, or just running an errand. It’ll rev to 8,000 all day long. I also had a GTI and totally agree with your assessment.

I used to have a 7th gen which I absolutely loved but it had headgasket and cooling issues. I'm considering the 8th gen. I don't like the looks that much especially the poor front visibility, and it has drive by wire instead of cable. But I'll test drive one and see how it goes.

2012 Civic Si owner. Daily driven and right now I’m sitting at 135,500 miles. No problems at all. CMC and slave cylinder was replaced at 62,000 miles and new clutch was put in at 118,000 since the car still runs flawlessly. Just an update*** I’m currently @ 177,000 miles. Car still runs great had a few little problems I’ve ran into and it all started @ 175,000 miles. LEFT REAR brake caliper blew and started leaking, easy fix thanks to KZbin. The other problem I ran into was my ALTERNATOR . Got it replaced 3x from Advance Auto Parts and the 3rd alternator finally got my car running correctly, boy I tell I was stressed as hell for a week straight, the first 2 alternators I had put in the civic was CarQuest brand and it was no luck for me. 1st one died after a day of installing. 2nd one gave out after a week. Not only did they gave out on me it was also causing my Si to idle surge at rolling stops & dead stops. But as of today the car runs fine. I plan on riding till the wheels fall off.

The reason I love Honda is my first Honda Accord cost $75 and had 315,000 miles, manual transmission and it ran great and had no reliability issues for the year and a half I drove it. My second on I bought with 215,000 and it ran perfectly, no rattles felt almost new. That turned me into a Honda guy for life. I’ve had 5 Honda’s so far, 0 check engine lights and no day ruining problems. Only bad thing I can say is NY salt will rust up a Honda pretty quick but same with most cars.

It's not really that simple. GM under past ownership would never have the kind of foresight to do this. They are closing factories of cars that don't sell well due to the demand for SUV's, and retooling for electric. While painful, I think this shows how the new GM leadership are actually thinking about the future.

@@lonewhitewolf8232 The only GM's that can do that are trucks or the cars that had the 3800 variant (Series I,II, or III) motor in them. Such a crime shame that GM ended that engine 10 years ago. Did you know that GM had an internal memo that they needed to cancel the 3.8 motor because it was "too good" and thus they needed a more disposable engine to use. Good luck getting 300K out of anything GM has put since their bankruptcy. Those 3.6's LOVE to stretch their timing chains......

enjoyed the review and its nice to see this car getting some recognition, they've been overlooked for years with the other manufacturers throwing boost at their engines and getting bigger numbers. you can make these cars fast of course, but what i love about them is how visceral and balanced they are from the factory while still being completely reliable, practical and cheap to own. its very easy to put them at their limit and the overall experience is so much fun. these are the last of their kind and kinda special as Hondas go, only the S2K, NSX, ITR and the 8th gen Si got the high revving VTEC/6spd/LSD combo in the US. Honda will never make an engine like the N/A K20 again for us Average Joes due to emissions and the horsepower wars, so go experience one of these while you can whether its just a drive or owning one. i'll have my 2010 FA5 for as long as possible.

Truly enjoyed this vid, about time someone showed this gen SI some love. I own a 2009 sedan with 12K original miles, purchased new after my son suggested I try one; the money flew out of my wallet the instant the clutch left the floor on the test ride. Odd as I’d owned many considerably higher performance/expensive cars but the SI instantaneously impressed me and continues to do so. The engine /transmission is pure magic, the chassis comfortable, competent, and tight as any BMW I’ve experienced. Car&Driver voted its 2.0 engine one of the top 10 in the world a number of years ago, I agree completely. I usually move cars quickly but have held this one longer than any other, honestly I’d only sell it for a 911. It is completely stock and original to include the battery, no rain or snow ever, and shows nicely wherever it goes to include dealers selling German cars, where oddly enough, many mechanic/sales people have come out to look and made offers to buy. Enough gushing, you get the point, grab one if you can and you won’t be sorry but incredibly shocked at the performance and quality on offer, the inexpensive cost the frosting!!! An under appreciated gem for sure. Be well.

These cars are great, engine/internal-wise that is. I have an '09. The one problem with them (or rather Honda in general) is that they skimp on the factory paint/clearcoat costs so these cars are plagued with clearcoat peeling and cracking down the road. The same thing happened with post 2000 generation of their accords/civics. Not sure how things are at the present but I will never buy a Honda again as it's hard for me to trust them anymore. The scar runs too deep.
