Is this GOP the smartest party? (by @TheMeFund)

I think that we are highly undreestimating the GOP's play here. By branding them stupid and foolish we are cutting down ourselves and allowing them to continue playing the idiot while they get EXACTLY what they want, which is government spending. If we continue on this path we will only be hurting ourselves.
Instead let's figure out what the REAL game is here and start playing THAT game instead.

I never thought about it that way, and this perspective is so, so much more terrifying.

While the Greek debt is a factor in their current crisis a stronger factor in why their economy tanked is the fact that between the years of 2004 and 2009 the Greek government ran HUGE deficit budgets, often spending 50-80% more than they were taking in via taxes. Then the recession started. THIS is the main cause of their crisis. Simply owing someone money will not ruin you, your ability to pay on what you owe WILL. Running deficit budgets is a sure fire way to have a massive debt bite you.

I do not thank you for being one step away from those who would wish to fire all 535 members of congress. This is Tea Party theatre. Those supporting the tying of Affordable Care Act defunding to a continuing resolution bill also feel free, as Rep. Randy Neugebauer's (R-Tex.) did, to confront a park ranger because the World War II memorial was closed.

I agree that we must "take our own lives into our hand and figure shit out" but I also do not believe we exist in a vacuum and it is important to be aware of the systems we live in and work to better those systems.

No doubt it's Tea Party Theatre, that was my point entirely. The smoke and mirrors are throwing us off the real trail for what is happening: defunding the ACA is not the ultimate end-goal of *this* particular fight (although it is a goal of the GOP as a whole) rather that our dismissal of the GOP as "stupid" or foolish is blinding us to the actual problems and not bringing about a better solution to the issue.

The Debt is a minor factor in the economic outlook of the US. The deficit however, is a huge factor. This administration has run the lowest deficits of the last 4 administrations. That 16 trillion in debt is mostly from paying for the 2 decade-long wars that we were pulled into by the previous administration.

Also I liked your beard more as it was in the previous two videos. And yes, I am a KZbin commenter telling you how to live your life. KZbin comments are a great source of internet wisdom.

Absolutely that is a portion of the game the Dems are playing. However, it seems as though they've drank their own kool-aid here and they are negotiating in ways that are consistent with their rhetoric, they need to be playing a smarter political game, not just trying to win some votes here and there, but rather really coming up with solutions to the problems and presenting them as adults would.

At one point KZbin was a hobby that turned into a career for me, it has changed back to a hobby these days though. I don't have enough time and energy to maintain the amount of content and quality it takes to really make this thing work. Instead I'm working as a consultant in the industry :)

And the issue I would just push is, if the system is unethical, which you seem to agree it is, than what is the point of bettering it? Isn't it more likely that there is something inherently flawed in the broken system? I would say people have been trying to reform the system for 50-sum years now and things have only gotten worse, so what hope is there that this time we can make that monster run right? Wouldn't it be more sensible to just abandon ship and go rogue, which we are forced to anyway?

There is no historical precedent for the size of our debt and what it means for the future of our economy. However, there is some evidence supporting the idea that having sane fiscal policies (tax rates that aren't laughably low, more responsible spending policies, etc) will prevent that large debt from doing any significant damage. I'm not entirely sure what your solution is, but it sounds to me as though you have some ideas about what would and could fix the economy, please share.

Sure there is a list of sane policy choices which could greatly improve the situation, but I don't think it is a lack of good ideas which is holding us back; my perspective more and more is that it is a lack of moral or ethical perspective which is hindering us. I believe there are super elite who are illegally, and immorally, robbing and systematizing their robbery, and until this issue is addressed those good ideas are so much academia.

I do not fundamentally disagree with you on this point (super elite robbery) however I don't agree that sharing and tackling the ideas is worthless. If we remain silent with our ideas and vision of the country then we are simply enabling the current paradigm to continue.

You basically get at this ethical point in your video, and as I saw it it seemed you were still enveloped in this us vs. them, republican vs. democrat perspective. We got into one of these back and forths before, I was a No-Voter during the election, and basically still believe that. I think no solace will be found in the system. I think we all as individuals have to take our own lives into our hand and figure shit out. The government is there to rob and imprison you.

What does the 16 trillion dollars in U.S. debt do for the economy? How are you still believing in this "Left-Right" paradigm is beyond me.

Also is KZbin a side hobby for you or would it be a career that you would look forward to? #KZbin thinks I'm a spam bot

You are refusing a very obvious point that this economy is totally hosed, and I like most sane people don't give a shit how we got here (outside of speculative discourse of course) but am concerned where do we go from here? How do we fix it? And frankly this partisan politics is just jerking us around. Stop defending bad policy because you think it agrees with your moral outlook. You're not helping all the sick people in this country by ushering in a depression.
